I remember, when we patrolled in arctic regions and visibility was bad, we took regular seawater probes and measured their temperature. A sudden dip in temperature was a clear sign of an iceberg in the vicinity.
@@Sail-World Indeed it must. In the unlikely event of finding myself there it would be an appeal to "Beam me up Scottie" (from Star Trek younger readers!)
@@colmanoceanracing Do you have the ORCA system on board Conrad ? Also, with the icebergs only showing up on radar at close proximity do you keep your radar on all the time - radars are énergivore aren't they ?
@ I know... luckily a shiny white one alerted Coleman about the danger in the first place. It's pretty damn scary. Shouldn't the exclusion zone be pulled up to the north?
Damned icebergs don't seem to care that the Race Instructions threaten time penalties and fines for bergs escaping the Ice Exclusion Zone. . Be careful out there sailors.
I think your videos got to long. A daily update shouldnt be longer then 5-7 minutes imo. A lot of your script could be shorter and it would be more entertaining if the clips from the skippers would be cuted down. If some wants to see their whole clips, you should link them up anyway.
I've had more positive feedback to the longer videos than negative, and already cut down the clips from skippers to what I want. Some end up 20 minutes, some 8 minutes, but I've found so many of the clips so entertaining that I'm not going to cut them down. I know full well I'm not going to please everyone all the time, and some will think one thing while other think another.
@Sail-World fair enough. Doesnt match my perspective but all good, probably wont watch it that much anymore. But still better then the offical vendee globe channel who doesnt even get english subtitles on their videos i guess. Keep it up if it is sucxessfull
Fantastic episode bringing out the bravery and the self-control of these incredible sailors
Merci....look forward to your reportage every day!! What a trip!!!!!
Great update today, thank you! Mesmerised by the icebergs - can't imagine nighttime with them around your boat.
I'm not sure I could sleep knowing there are icebergs out there
Always love an update from Conrad - so much positivity
How exciting, and so many great impressions, thank you so much!!! As always, warm regards.
Bonjour à toutes et à tous de Paris 😍 merci de nous partager ces images. Vous êtes tellement courageux, je suis impressionnée

Thanks for the info. Carry on and Happy New Year to all. Beware of the ice cubes!
Scary situation with these icebergs. I hope they can stay clear and get through unscathed.
So great to see the dolphins & albatrosses
Great episode the ice must be fantastic to see down there .
It must be a weird sensation, taking in their beauty while at the same time knowing how dangerous the ice can be.

Prefect
It’s day 53 at sea and Conrad is completely mad 😂😉
But in a good way!
Conrad, as icebergs do not show up well on the radar do you slow down at night when ice is around?
The Titanic didn't!
A little, but not enough to make a difference

What are your thoughts on Gerry Roufs in the 1996 Vendee Globe ?
On the plus side, as long as they're not submerged they're white and shiny.
It's the submerged ones that are the biggest worry!

@TheMtotheArvin you can always skip through bits if you're finding it a bit long :-)
