Great video , I was ok in for a video like this. Your explanation were clear and concise . I will be watching this video to ensure I didn’t miss anything.
This video is great to understand the deco courses. I haven’t heard it explained this way before. This was very helpful. I’d like to see something similar covering intro to tech courses.
Good info! I'm studying up in prep for this class now, didn't even realize deco procedures and helitrox occupied a similar spot in the training roster (minor helium use aside). I know tec classes can have more bespoke scheduling and logistics; what would you consider a good student:instructor ratio and how many days does the AN/DP or AN/Heli class usually take assuming proficient students? And do you have a pref as far as sidemount/back doubles for divers with no plans to do caves or wrecks? I'll probably end up learning both; I'm in good shape but BM doubles seems like a lot of load on the knees and challenging stability in smaller boats and choppier seas. On the flip side, a lot of boats don't have the elbow room for sidemount... maybe I'll just end up clipping an HP100 to my BM BCD D-rings :D
Great questions. I popped a few short answers below but can give you more details via email or phone if you reach out directly. 4-5 days for AN/DP. You should not be the only student in the class because that prevents learning good team diving dynamics - up to a 3:1 student to instructor ratio is appropriate. I prefer doubles in the ocean (easier on boats) and sidemount in shore diving sites. Drift deco ocean dives are - in my opinion - the best place for ANDP classes. Let me know if any questions and have fun in your class!
Thank you for doing this video am half way through now, I haven't finished yet but planning on it

Hardest part of deco dives is finding a charter that I can schedule. Nice video
That's the nice thing about South Florida, we have tech trips every week! Come down to check them out.
Great info John! Thanks!
Excellent video
What’s the title of the top book? Deco for Divers was awesome.
Breathe by James Nestor.
