Manufacturers often brag about the latest engine designs with this or that electronic ignition or fuel systems, but to my mind one if the greatest engines ever made was the air cooled lister .I had a single cylinder for many years in a sixteen foot clinker boat and it never let me down, why because it was that simple for example no water cooling to worry about so no impeller or water intake to get obstructed ,no starter motor and so no battery or alternator to go wrong or the hideous cost to replace them , and they run them all day on a gallon or so of diesel and just swing them over with the handle and off they would thud and the only thing you need to do is let them breath. If ever I do get another boat then I will get another Lister

I got these in a Winget tractor one has don ten thousand hours untouched just rebuilding hard to.stsrt in cold
