    I admire John Mearsheimer because he is a realist who explains his theory without any emotion. John said that China poses a threat to US hegemony. From the American point of view, that's a fact. And for that reason John said that China must be contained.

    My POV Prof Richard, the major economic problem today, which means political problem, is Social Democracy vs Liberal Democracy. Which as you know means Group rights vs Individual rights. No brainer... if you had to choose between saving 3000 Global Billionaires OR 8.1 Billion souls, which would you SAVE if you had to pick one group or the other?

    The US was not after WW2 under existential threat from Russia. However, it may have been under existential threat by labour power generally.
    I think there were two main counters here: military, and cultural. The various "liberations" of the 60s was of the latter. Feminism destroyed labour more effectively than anything else. I mean how is a miner going to strike in the absence of a family behind him?

      Do you think you could fall asleep in one of his lessons? If your teacher keeps you awake, and then stakes you to the subject matter from every angle, then the material shared will stick, and you will be a wiser student. This is what makes a brilliant teacher.

    La competition aujourd'hui est fictive: pour la gouvernance du monde entier! Mais nous ne sommes pas proprietaires de la terre!! Elle be nous apartient pas; nous y sommes des locataires, Dieu etant Le seul proprietaire kegitime.

    Ah, the GDP popped up as a “measure” of something…
    Might be worth, one day, to have the respected quests to clarify on that, too. In here, if the GDP would be a real indicator of a potential in winning a war -??? - needs a particular clarification.
    GDP = C + I + G + NX
    How would it directly (!) reflect a military might? (…while it does not even directly reflect prosperity, food quality, life style(s), etc.)
    2. B t w, I did not know that war in Afghanistan was a Rus-Am war. Ah, and Rus lost because of GDP. In that case, Vietnam war was also, perhaps, between Rus and Am. Then the Rus won with even lesser GDP ratio (?)….
    In Ukr, pathetic Rus is facing the block representing many all the leading countries with combined GDP x100 more than the Rus. The West is poised to win, I guess, could not be the opposite, right?
    Or (maybe), something wrong with the GDP “indicator” or the way we apply it?

    3:23 - I do feel like Prof. Mearsheimer tends to use "Realism" as a way to give some amount of (undue) validity to his claims. It's the academic version of "Trust me, bro!"
