Hot take: I like Mario Party 10. I like the inclusion of boss battles, even if Mario Party DS did it first, and the car is a nice change of pace to the "repetitive" Mario Party gameplay we'd been used to for about 8 games and who-knows-how-many years straight. It's certainly not the best, but there's merit in "I want to play Mario Party, but different." It works well as an alternative to the other Mario Party games, rather than trying to be definitive.
If i wanted to play MP10, I would've played MP9

Chaos Castle and Haunted Trail are really the only good boards we got out of this mechanic. Haunted Trail actually encourages smaller rolls so the boo has more time to drain stars from the opponent and Chaos Castle ends with a fittingly chaotic homestretch that can lead to legendarily close games
