I literally flipped my subaru ascent touring 2023 model tail over head 2x, rolled left to right 2x, and then struck a cement drainage system with my tail in the air then landed (which all started at 70 mph) after a heart attack and I walked away. One scratch in my hand. 100% safest vehicle.
Good news is, before your vid, Subaru released the newest U.S. version of Eyesight that includes an additional wide angle camera, and updated the two other cameras, and updated the computer, to improve pedestrian detection by quite a bit. This was released in 2022 for the 2023 Model Year. I cannot wait to see IIHS's tests of the Gen 4 Eyesight system (or the upcoming version you all will see not too far down the road).
I had a 2022 Ascent touring and just traded it in for a 2024 Ascent touring. I hated the 2024 at first but it was just like getting a new PC or phone, once you get it set to how you want the Ascent is really nice, safe, responsive and comfortable.
Was going to possibly get 2024 Hyundai Palisade…looked at safety ratings and holy crap am I glad I got the Ascent instead. Palisade was made of freaking tinfoil. 😮😢
Well Hyundai isn’t known for reliability (by any definition), so I’m not surprised to hear that safety is trash too. You definitely made the smart decision by getting a Subaru.
Small Overlap: 2019; Updated Moderate Overlap: 2022; Updated Side Impact: 2022; Roof Strength: 2019. They all represent the same generation of Ascent. Only the Updated Moderate Overlap test has ratings exclusively applicable for 2022+ versions.
@@gentilr01 because the test didn't exist at the time, and, in the case of the Ascent, the structure didn't change from 2019-2021 vs 2022. IIHS rarely goes backwards to grab older years to test in newer tests.
I could have sworn that it seems that they have removed a rating from the new system (perhaps a few years ago maybe) as I thought there was an Excellent rating or Very Good, above just "Good" and that Good was just average. Maybe they did because almost no vehicles would have made such a mark in the updated tests....
Definitely a fan of Subaru! Great information on safety!
Thanks! 👍

100% safest vehicle.
That’s quite the crash. I’m glad you are ok!
Yup, and most people would prefer something that looks luxurious than a vehicle that could potentially save your life in a car crash.
Thank you for your hard work in this test. It helps me make choices in buying of a new vehicle.

My mom owns one of these. The seats are super hard and not great for road trips. But at least I won’t die in one.
I love my Ascent ❤

What year is this model being tested?

Why doesn’t the Updated Moderate Overlap test score not also apply to the 2019-2021 models? What changed with the 2022 model?

“Good” has been the highest IIHS crash test score since they began testing in the 90s. The NHTSA use a 1-5 star rating scale.
Funny part is... this is the old gen Ascent!! The New ones have been Much More refined too!
SUBARU rear seat passenger head went between side airbag and door in front offset crash test. Subaryshould have lower score to POOR
The dummy’s arm went very slightly outside the air bag. The head remained inside the cabin the entire time.
@@crashcore_cc Look who the Dummy is now LMAO @georgevavoulis We should lower you IQ Score to POOR!
