R.I.P. Freddie Prinze, Sr. (Chico) 😢. That smile and that gift of comedy is still missed (on Tubi now). Jose Feliciano, what a voice. Your musical talent has blessed us over the years (especially at Christmas). ❤

@ricardodelangel8135 I don't know. He was heavily into drugs and I believe at that time he was going through a break up.

I used to watch Chico and the man every week with my family, love it, I was doing a school report about Freddie Prince back ,in junior high school, I still sing this song at home. Tonight I'm going to sing it at karaoke club.

Sorry for the delay...Well part of the reason was a case of too much too soon..Remember Freddie died very young..early 20s I believe..Drugs, alcohol , depression, substance abuse, erratic behavior, a very large ego..There was no one to reign him in to control him...But, he was loved by many...When the news broke out about Freddie expiring from a gunshot wound to the head...You can imagine the shock EVERYONE felt...Back then in the 1970s people used to play a deadly game called "Russian Roulette"..sometimes for gambling $$$ or sometimes drunk or sometimes because they wanted all of it to end...Sad but true

Not enough people know about this song, or the young man who starred in the show it was written for. But I remember, RIP Freddie Prinze Sr, I remember you and all the ways you made me and my family laugh and still do, in my heart.

True. I was expecting the audience to go wild when they heard the guitar and vocal intro to Chico and the Man, but nothing. They have no memory of the song or tv show. :(

hopefully this man is finally getting his due. if you were around back then, mid seventies, like me, you surely remember the tv series and the song! i was in my early 20's. it was rough times for me back then. laid off from GM in Flint MI late 1973. i think the tv shows, back then, got me through a very rough time.

LOVE this performance. I have loved this song since it was brand new -- I was in the 4th grade when Chico & The Man was on TV, I lived in L.A. and this song was on radio all over the place for a time. I just LOVED it, and taught myself to play it after a while (I'd been playing guitar since I was 6, and playing professionally for over 35 years now). Jose Feliciano has been a hero of mine since then, and this song is one of my favorites. Just so gorgeous.

Jose is a legendary, multi talented artist.
Had the pleasure of seeing him live years ago, in a small club, and halfway through he went on to play some serious Hendrix tunes and after had his guy walk him to the drums where he went on to get down on the drums,
he played so many great tunes, and we ended up dancing the night away 👏🏽

Would have been much better, in my opinion, if the keyboard player wasn't so loud. He did not add much to this fine song of Jose Feliciano.

On this day in 1975 {May 20th} Jose Feliciano was a guest on the nationally syndicated television program, 'The Mike Douglas Show'...
Jose didn't have a record on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at the time, but five months earlier on January 19th, 1975 his "Chico and the Man" entered the Top 100 at position #97, the following week it peaked at #96 and that was also it's second and final week on the Top 100...
Between 1968 and 2017 the Lares, Puerto Rico native had twelve records on Billboard's Top 100 chart, one made the Top 10, his cover version of the Doors' "Light My Fire"*, it peaked at #3 {for 3 weeks} on August 25th, 1969...
His seasonal record "Feliz Navidad" charted four times; #44 in 1970, #70 in 1998, #44 in 2016, and #49 in 2017...
José Monserrate Feliciano García will celebrate his 74th birthday this coming September 10th, 2019...
    * The first week his "Light My Fire" peak at #3, the Doors' original version re-entered the Top 100 at position #96, it stayed on the chart for five more weeks and peaked at #87...

People used to say that I looked like Chico went I was in my 20's, but I never really thought so.
To prove it, my friend took me to Miami where Chico was staying at a hotel, I walked up to the desk and asked for another room key because mine wasn't working correctly... The attendant gave it to me and said "Chico, I love your show!"

Freddie Prinze Sr, who's son is Freddie Prinze Jr, starred in this beautiful show, it was on once a week and won all these awards, it was the most watched show at the time just before the tragic death of it's star. I will always remember how he made my mother so proud, he stood and still stands for latinos, he set a precedent of sorts and still does for me. He always will.
