BS7608 requires the use of a structured hex mesh for weld HS stress calculations. Does IIW allow tet meshes?
All the methods are displaying a sensitivity to mesh size (except for the tet meshes in HS/Haibach, which are not permitted in BS7608). It would require a prohibitive amount of work to repeatedly remesh a real structure in order to converge to an acceptable value.
Can you compare the results to the Nodal Forces (Volvo) method? It claims to be mesh-insensitive.

It is only some rough recommendations given: Prismatic isoparametric solid elements, for example is isoparametric 20-node elements with mid-side nodes.
For plate or shell element model , the elements are arranged in the mid-plane of the structural components. 8-noded elements.
