One more thing....absolutely the best spiritual I've heard by a white dude, with the best sense of what it must of been like to be a black man back during the time of the song...without actually being a man of color. Probably has close cross-cultural/racial friends and relationships. I'm guessing he's a sensitive and insightful person. Once again, WONDERFUL!
I've been listening to this song for over and hour because it touches every fiber in the soul about hope, encouragement, and that there is a better place. Heaven is that better place. This soloist has power and calm at the same time. Love his vocal range. Great! Simply Great!!!
We are doing this song at my school, kudos to Mr. Jonathan Pilgrim, because I used this videos to learn some runs to use in my solo audition. Overall, best soloist I've seen do this song yet. Great work.

Praise God for Jonathan Pilgrim. I don't know who he is but the Lord sure did use him to move my soul. I pray over his talent that God blesses him to go where ever that voice will lead him. Amen!
Hey "Octa"...you "hope" he's getting quality instruction??? He clearly has already had it!!! I fully agree with your feeling and I felt it too...he has plenty of free movement and facial expression if you look closely....he was feeling it too! It's a vocal performance, not a spiritual dance. This guy is VERY musical and his voice and interpretation is fabulous!
Actually, my comment was my personal opinion on what I saw/heard based on my music education background. I fully understand that every performance will have a different interpretation, but to say that someones opinion was unnecessary is ignorance as well. I know that gospel and spirituals can be considered different, yet can be classified in the same genre as well. There is more to a "perfect" performance then simply executing the notes on the page
There is no denying that Jonathan has vocal talent, but this is a soulful song...a gospel song...and he just stood there and executed the notes, but where was the feeling, where was the soul?

We did this song in high school I still come back and watch this video I graduated in 16 dude killed this song choir sounded great also
