    I understand this is meant to be purely decorative. BUT, if I wanted to use this technique on a garment, would the garment require special cleaning? WHERE do you get gold leather?! Love this, so glad you are back!

      It has been used on garments and alter frontals for centuries in our churches such as chasubles and stoles but every day clothing could be very hard on it with constant washing. it is used on designer dresses but they dont get the wear and tear that ordinary clothing gets so i personally would be very careful on applying it to general clothing. The gold leather is available from specialist embroidery shops and is a soft flexible supple leather such as kid, nubuck or such like with a metallic coating applied to its surface. Try tapping in gold leather for gold work techniques.
