I have to say, I'm actually pretty shocked that almost every single one of the comments here is someone asking you for something. Almost no one is offering thanks or praise for what you've done here.
This is a really really beautiful, nuanced rendition of a truly amazing song. Thank you so much for your effort and your craft. I'm really enjoying singing along with you.
I never meant to make it such a mess
I never thought that it would go this far
So I just stand here sorry
Searching for something to say
Something to say
Words fail, words fail
There's nothing I can say
I guess I thought I could be part of this
I never had this kind of thing before
I never had that perfect girl
Who somehow could see the good part of me
I never had the dad who stuck it out
No corny jokes or baseball gloves
No mom who just was there
'Cause mom was all that she had to be
That's not a worthy explanation
I know there is none
Nothing can make sense of all these things I've done
Words fail, words fail
There's nothing I can say
Except sometimes, you see everything you wanted
And sometimes, you see everything you wish you had
And it's right there, right there, right there
In front of you
And you want to believe it's true
So you... make it true
And you think maybe everybody wants it
And needs it... a little bit... too
This was just a sad invention
It wasn't real, I know
But we were happy
I guess I couldn't let that go
I guess I couldn't give that up
I guess I wanted to believe
'Cause if I just believe
Then I don't have to see what's really there
No, I'd rather pretend I'm something better than
These broken parts
Pretend I'm something other than
This mess that I am
'Cause then I don't have to look at it
And no one gets to look at it
No, no one can really see
'Cause I've learned to slam on the brake
Before I even turn the key
Before I make the mistake
Before I lead with the worst of me
I never let them see the worst of me
'Cause what if everyone saw?
What if everyone knew?
Would they like what they saw?
Or would they hate it too?
Will I just keep on running away from what's true?
All I ever do is run
So how do I step in
Step into the sun?
Step into the sun
Wow! Do you have sheet music you can make available?
Theatre Piano Accompaniments by Jess Modaff can you do in the bedroom down the hall!

Theatre Piano Accompaniments by Jess Modaff I
words fail has to be one of my favourite songs from dear Evan Hansen. its such an emotional song and without all the other instruments and just The piano its even better. thank you so much, if i use the original backing track i end up trying to sing the normal notes and have a hard time lowering my voice because im so used to hearing the music with the amazing vocals and my voice is not that good, so its hard for me to hit notes, though sometimes i can do a good belt, but anyway with the piano it allows me to lower my voice easier and makes my voice sound so much better, so thank you for all your piano covers, you are truly an amazing person
I just wanna say that this is absolutely amazing. I've been having a blast learning this song to your accompaniment. :) Thank you soo much!
Thank you! I am glad.
Theatre Piano Accompaniments by Jess Modaff hold up, do you learn these by ear?
Shane Jones Yes, all the Dear Evan Hansen, Great Comet, and Waitress stuff. Everything else I learned with notation .
@@theatrepianoaccompaniments2147 That's on perfect pitch.

This is an incredible accompaniment. Thank you so much for putting this together, so good.
u are a truly amazing pianist and i appreciate every thing u do! keep up the good work, ur amazing
Thank you!
You're the best!!!
Jess, thank you for such a great piano accompaniment. It's beautiful to sing along.
Could you please make an accompaniment for Sincerely, Me? Thank you so much! You're a wonderful pianist!!
Sincerely, Me - hilarious song! I might make a recording of it. Depends on how much bandwidth I'll have between now and the end of the semester. Thanks for the compliments. Cheers!
Please oh please make one for "anybody have a map," "to break in a glove," and "finale!" Then I'd have instrumentals for all of the songs!
Amanda Richards OMG I do that too then that way I can actually use my true singing voice
I do the same exact thing lol
ME TOOO
Absolutely beautiful work on this. Thank you for posting.
I absolutely adore this piece and I managed to sing all the parts without a problem! I feel like I'm way too much into this musical XD
This is so beautifully done!! Thank you so much for your hard work-it is FANTASTIC to be able to sing along with your accompaniment.
This is amazing! This is the best piano cover I´ve found of this song, truly good job
Beautiful.... perfect. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this! I think I'll use it for a choir audition :)
this is amazing!! can someone make a video that shows the music cues? it’s hard to know when to start singing and when to pause the word, and the only Words Fail karaoke video that does that has a clip of advertisement audio in it. :/
This is it folks. The song that got me into this whole musical..
You're truly the greatest. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUU
You're welcome!
I did a cover of this song and used your track :)
Many thanks! I credited you in the description
This is amazing! The tempo is really same as the original. Can you make a half-step lower accompaniment to this song? Thank you so much for this.
Oh God, how is it that when I sing to this I cry more than actually sing? Boy, I'd be a TERRIBLE Evan since I'd definitely cry through the whole show.
absolutely amazing accompaniments Jess, I am very jealous that you have access to this sheet music, once i get my hands on it i am definitely going to hire a pianist and do a reading with others in the dallas community- Thank you so much for these instrumentals to practice with for the time being! :D
Hi Vahn. I don't have sheet music for this. Learned and performed it all by ear!
Thats beautiful!
AHH U DID IT. THANKS SO MUCH :)
PLEASE MAKE A FEMALE KEY!! I WOULD FOREVER VE IN DEBT TO YOU
You mean.... FOR FOREVER? Hue hue hue
MagicBrooke go home xD
This was so good!! Ive been practicing my favorite deh songs and your giving the the way to do it!!
Well done!
Thank you so much for this!!!
This is amazing! I'm auditioning for a musical soon and wanted an accompaniment for this show so bad! Is there any way you could do "Out There On The Road" from Big Fish?
Sorry -- don't know it, and don't have the bandwidth to get to know it. Good luck on your audition, though!
could someone possibly tell me when to start singing, 'this is just a sad invention'? thank you. and thank you for this 💗💗
Rachel Walker 3:03
Thanks!
Thank you!
This is absolutely beautiful! can i use this for a cover? I will credit you! x
Could you please transpose this into a female key?? That would make my life!!!
0:11 start of song
Hi jess I love this karaoke and was wondering if I could use it in one of my videos :-)
Do you mind if I used this for a cover? I'd credit you! Thanks!
Is there any chance that you could post a link to sheet music for this piece? It's incredibly beautiful :)
While I do transcribe, I haven't transcribed this piece - I learned it by ear. I recommend keeping an eye out for the Dear Evan Hansen score when it becomes available!
You are so amazing, thank you! Can I use your music for a cover?
Thanks! Yes, but please do credit me and link my page in your description.
ahhh! you did so well! (it's so sad though ;v;)
Justo ahí, ahí, ahí ...frente a ti.
No, no deberían ver
Do you think you could please do "corner of the sky" from pipen it would mean alot because I love your work and I'm doing it for solo comp
May I use this for my American Idol audition?
Hi, sorry to bother you but would I be able to use this backing in one of my videos? If not I totally understand. Keep up the good work!
Thanks,
Sam :)
Samantha Sandford yup
1:38 because I'm auditioning
Do you care if I use this for a cover and give you credit?
cause if I don’t have to look at it. No one gets to look at it, no! No one can really see.
I know this was transposed but is there anyway that you have sheet music for this now?
It's not transposed, this is the original key. I don't have any sheet music for it, but I did write out a chord chart if you are interested. If so, send me your email address.
Theatre Piano Accompaniments by Jess Modaff Hi, I was wondering if you could possibly send it to me too? You obviously don't have to, but I would absolutely love to play it for music class! My email is cielisdonzig@gmail.com, thank you very much!
Hey :) I was wondering if this was available to download? I’m thinking of doing this song for a recording session, and would need to download it as a backing track. Is it at all possible to download this?
Many thanks 😁
I meant the female key.. sorry for the confusion
This is an amazing cover/instrumental version of this song! Do you have any sheet music so I can learn how to play it too? :D
Thank you! I don't have sheet music written out for this as of right now. Learned it by ear. Best of luck!
Oh that's a pitty! My ears aren't the best, so it's really hard to learn it like that ... If you'd ever make it, ... But thanks anyway!
Do you read chord charts?
I do yes!
Send me your email and I'll give you a PDF of the chords I wrote.
Can I ask when the vocals start?
0:11
2:52 ignore that lol, great job tho!
I appreciate the accompaniment, but I'm finding this really hard to follow without lyrics because of the timing and all the instrumental breaks :/
The timing is nearly identical to the cast recording. My best advice is to listen to the cast recording in 20-30 second segments, then go back and practice with the same segment on the accompaniment.
Theatre Piano Accompaniments by Jess Modaff Wow, I didn't actually expect to get a response. Thanks! Also, I've used your "waving through a window" track so many times! I even downloaded it on my phone. It's so helpful to have it in the right key, especially since there's no sheet music yet.
I am a vocal coach, so I'm familiar with and sympathetic to the challenges that are posed by recorded accompaniments.
:-) Best wishes to you in your journey!
Theatre Piano Accompaniments by Jess Modaff Thanks so much!
It would be awesome if you could make a female key for this one
BrianaBrooks7 I have begun practicing this in a different key. Stay tuned!
Can I have sheet music for this? It's for an audition
Justin Giannino Sorry...learned this by ear!
hi:)) do you know what key this is in?
3:59 forward sounds like waving through a window
3:50
what happened to the female key for this? :(
I've never made a female key for this! It's a good idea, though...
Theatre Piano Accompaniments by Jess Modaff oh, i must've mixed it up lol sorry!
th-cam.com/video/kfVq4mdAHME/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xgOv8nnVE8BxUFDd this backing track helped me win 2nd place at a show choir solo competition in may 2021 and stopped me from ending my life. thank you
When the female version is too high
I never meant to make it such a mess
I never thought that it would go this far
