For me, the most haunting thing about the Stranger is the owlk who's watching a home movie from inside the simulation. They created a perfect replica of their homeworld in virtual reality... and it wasn't enough.
Jeez, I did not think about that. I guess they’ll always know that it wasn’t truly real, and they’d long for actual home.
One eye sends the signal, Two eyes locked it away, Three eyes looked for it, Four eyes watch it's conclusion
Hehe, four eyes. Nerds!
and at some point Seven Ate Nine
one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, four to go.
::)
"four eyes watch it's _play_ " makes for a nice rhyming couplet, also an apt description of the "show" the eye puts on for the observer as their consciousness collapses into the foundations of the next universe 👍
I think one of my favorite things to see is people discovering The Matrix by accident.
that was my experience, yeah XD i had it happen in the area before the underground library, i just put it down at the stairs and figured "hey, if i don't have my lantern, they can't see me!", and then boom, i saw the code of the world
It’s really annoying for me to watch. One of the best experiences for me was discovering that I could’ve done that the whole time.
@@danielhenze8182I feel they should have increased the size of the bubble to lower the chances of it happening by accident. Yes it's cool however and whenever it happens but if you discover it really early you no doubt have robbed yourself of some tension in the dark sections
@@piotr78 Everybody that discovers it prior to doing the stealth stuff uses it to scout out the area, yeah. Definitely takes away a lot of the suspense of not knowing where another one might be waiting to jump you.
Even though I was horrid at the canyon stealth segment, to the point of finding the workaround to bypass most of it instead (go there early and lower the elevator to the boat dock, THEN blow out the lights and just take the boat from another section, bypassing the need to rematerialize the bridge), I still think I had a better overall experience by not discovering the matrix trick early.
@@galewin8942 There's an even shorter shortcut than that, bypassing the elevator.
I love how much this game rewards you for being a gamer. "Man these caves are clearly loading screens... That's weird, they did a pretty good job at keeping the loading screens hidden in the base game..." Only to realise they are in-universe loading screens
28:50 was absolutely hilarious lmao. So close yet so far
hes a lil confused but hes got the spirit
"..that's ridiculous" haha
1:03:31 "Meditate until next L"
Ah, so the Hearthians have Twitter.
44:10 okay Eelis, now you’re having too much fun 😂
That transition broke my brain lmao
1:10:54 "you're telling me this whole time" basically explains the whole game haha
52:19 okay, so the owlk just activated the hand by shining its light at it while following Mapocolops who had his own light concealed, very interesting
oh yeah didnt realize it the first time!
damn you are right holy shit!! What an awesome escape and nice detail haha
Woah!! That's so cool!
"they take in information from their eyes"
Great observation 😂😂
36:42 I never realized the flower was shaped as the eye, great detail
How do I commission this owlk artist ?
Ask the prisoner. Its his home after all ::) @@carboxyde3770
@@carboxyde3770well first you have to free him
By creating a digital world and sleeping. X3
Little shoutout to the editing on "I need to die... Do I need to die?? I think I do..." I don't think I've seen you add little editor flourishes like that before, nice touch 👌👌

You can't just post these videos side by side, I have a life.
*you HAD a life ::)
You must be kidding me. After the normal playthrough I just started the echoes of the eye playthrough and earlier today I finished watching it
Same I watched it yesterday
same
1:11:10 My thoughts exactly.
There’s a certain something about *this kind* of unreplayability; that this game is the very definition of open world, and all you need to do is spend a hundred hours exploring it. But once you know, you know; you can never unlearn it, so you can never play this game for the first time again.
But even for that, “it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all”. I wouldn’t trade my first blind playthrough of this game for *anything* , even now knowing the curse finishing it applies to you.
It's definitely one of the games that gives me that feeling of immersive familiarity. I know and love this game world, and sometimes when I don't feel like I belong in this world, I retreat into the games universe that I know and love. It's that somewhat intimate connection of having gotten to know the truth of the world, the inevitability of it, and yet still being able to appreciate it for its beauty that makes me come back every now and then to play it, even after having "completed" its story. It's a great analogy to life for me.
But I don't see how that's a defect tho. It's like saying once you've read the best book of your life you can't read it again (not for the first time at least). That's kinda the point. Why should every game have 5000 hours of replayability ? It is a masterpiece. Certainly one of (if not the) greatest game in existence to this day.
"Oh well fuck me that's terrifying", fucking mood, I played OotE as my Halloween game and a) knew I'd made a good choice and b) noped the fuck out of those rooms
I absolutely love the imagery of when you first approach the stranger. Like I just love that it completely eclipses the sun when you first approach it. A hint of the horror to come I guess
1:14:57 this moment is straight up crack for my addict brain
When Space Buddhism gets real
"CIA owls" is the best phrase of this playthrough
Please follow Mapoclops, he's an amazing youtuber that always gets fully immersed into the games he plays. This was such a beautiful journey. Eelis, keep doing what you're doing, every time you drop a video it improves my whole WEEK. I can't even begin to tell you how comforting the community around this game is, and how even when I feel like I'm alone in the universe, I know I'm not
yes!!! I absolutely adore him, he is always invested in the games he plays
His cyberpunk, now on hold for a week or two, is superb too!
Thanks for this comment, it's so nice to see that other people feel the same. I'll have to check out his other videos, I have the feeling I might discover some other good immersive games. Outer Wilds is definitely a profound experience in itself, and the shared experience of watching these videos is something truly unique.
45:01 Aww, I hate that. Such a shame the time when he started looking at that slide reel was also the time when the supernova song plays. I really think it takes something away when there is a specific music track meant to play when you take an action, but you don't hear it. Too bad.
No matter how many times I see the ending, I cry every time. This game is truly something special. One of the greatest stories I've had the fortune to experience! Thank you so much, Eelis, for taking so much time to make these incredible supercuts! Your love for this game shines through with every edit and it's absolutely beautiful!
1:09:10 That's so devastating it almost makes you forgive them for being scary assholes.
Here we eye again!
It's always quantum pleasure.
44:15 nice cut ::)
same goes for the cut just a few seconds before.
When you reach the eye, you can see the Owlk's probe still orbiting the eye, blocking its signal.
It forced the Nomai to find the location wih brute force, to the point of using time travelling in their plan.
I wasn't expecting this to be lined up next so soon! Thank you for your hard work
26:33 wooooo. Well happened to me as well...
This is easily the most interesting way I've seen someone discover the dream world.
God he was so ahead of or on top of everything the whole playthrough, that’s impressive
Genuinely, thank you so much for all these supercuts, I am literally addicted
I just finished the first part 10 minutes ago, can't wait to keep watching!
Thanks for all these supercuts Eelis!
26:40 dang that was a cool moment. i dont think ive seen that in a playthrough before
Another perfect playthrough after a few frustrating ones. I love this.
I love it when they're are really immersed into the game. Thanks for making these supercuts! Probably takes you alot of watching to know what should be kept in.
Me and my BF played this game together using multiplayer mod. It took us ages to figure things out but it was SOOO satisfying to figure things out and be like "hey this is kinda weird idea, but let's try YX" and when it was actually working it was SUCH A GOOD FEELING
In addition to the quantum moons, you can see the eye signal blocker the owlks sent out orbiting around the eye as well if you look around. I love that attention to detail
52:00 onwards.... Ugh I had the feeling of being chased lol. I'm glad you got away...
37:27 These sudden cuts with the End Times theme playing always jump scare me for a split second and my bpm go up.
It is also my alarm, that i wake up to everyday xD
Eelis youre spoiling us. ❤
Other than seeing the matrix early (and subsequently ignoring it) this was one of the most “intentional” playthroughs of the dlc I’ve seen. He actually got most of the hints before making most of the discoveries, most people stroll into dream world on accident really early
The editing of these last two videos was excellent. It just keeps getting better and better.
Thanks Eelis ❤❤❤
so soon?!? eelis based as hell what
47:54 take me down to the ring world city, where the trees are dead, and the reels are burning
After watching both supercuts, this guy actually FIGURES stuff out by LOGIC. Tons of fun, this one
We are FEASTING tonight!
58:47 “oof ouch my bones”
Thank you lord eelis for dropping this and making me cry on my birthday
Never saw anyone just get murked by an owlk because not having a lantern.
Happens quite often. You need to watch more.
44:12 Wow, that was cool, haha
Dude, most streamers give up on outrunning the Owlelks and try to sneak past them. This absolute chad just outruns them instead, or makes split second getaways!
Bro is somehow both the most and least intelligent individual. It’s phenomenal, I love it.
I just finished the base game supercut. Fantastic timing!
I just finished the other supercut. Stop reading my mind, Eelis!
You are the supercut goat eelis
Thank you Eelis
Dude I haven't even finished the first video yet!
Another one ty
13:09 We're gonna WHAT??
1:05:21 second time I see someone talk about owls downloading their language
44:13 The Transition
19:42. In my play of this part i could never figure out why they had a reel of this explosion. Not until watching many of these playthroughs that this is a reel of an owlk dying when testing the second version of the artifact.
I was like "OH SHOOT A SECRET ARTIFACT" and got the achievement for blowing myself up. I laughed so hard at myself for that one. Especially since I thought I was a genius for trying it.
@@raddaks2039 HAHA. I went back afterwards and tried it myself to get the achievements.
@@raddaks2039 >I'm a genius!

Do helloitskolo next. Her playthrough was really nice
WE'RE BACK AGAIN. LOVE YOU EELIS. MWA (no homo).
No video game I’ve played since compares to the experience I had playing Outer Wilds.
Kinda sad seeing people find out about the lantern glitch before you’re meant to. Kinda spoils the reveal imo.
I know, I was SHOCKED to see him set it down so early on. When I had this moment revealed on my playthrough I walked away from my computer for a few minutes. Such a risky thing to put a reveal right there in front of you but damn the payoff when it works
@@jixaw9383 yeah it was one of the most memorable moments I’ve ever experienced in a game
Hey Eelis, check out the Playthrough of Lukeal and consider a supercut, it's a small channel but very very similar to mapo's run in quality! ::)
I love this channel, can you do one of Kastaclysm. Her playthrough was awesome
I wish more people would also play The Outsider…
Searching all over the web and legitimately cannot find what game you are referring to. Perhaps that is why. Is it the defunct game for xbox that was never released, the abandoned indie horror game that was never released, a character in dishonored, the tiny indie point-and-click that has basically no reviews on steam, or something else?
Like the avatar btw, World of Goo is great and I'm so glad we're getting a sequel.
@@raddaks2039 I don’t advise you to search for anything on Outer Wilds, unless you want to ruin your gaming experience. Outer Wilds: The Outsider is an unofficial DLC for Outer Wilds and Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye.
My avatar is not World of Goo at all. This is the protagonist of Little Inferno, one of the four official avatars bundled with the game on GOG.
::) Awesome.
YES!!!!!!!!!
6:22 Wow this is the first time I’ve seen this brought up. And he’s totally right, the ghost matter is there because they were there before the Nomai. But you know what this makes me wonder? Is why the bodies of the Owlk aren’t bones like the Nomai if ghost matter got to their ship? Or why they aren’t bones by now anyways for that matter
I am completely convinced this is not his first time playing or he has the most massive brain ever
I think he's just very perceptive. His reactions are too genuine
Mapo is like that, but will also look straight at something and not see it. It can be frustrating and hilarious, but he always understands very clearly by the end.
I have followed Mapo for years now and he is 100% legit. He is usually quite perceptive and thoughtful and that is a good match for Outer Wilds. But he also gets stuck just like any of us. These supercuts make him seem even more effective than reality since they cut out some dead ends and inefficiencies but he generally is savvy and experienced enough to stay on track. And he HATES to be spoiled; we all take a lot of pains in the community to avoid accidentally spoiling anything for him.
You should go watch pirate software's playthrough. He manages to finagle his way through everything and it sucks because he misses so much.
To be fair in the video he specifically said he noticed something when reviewing his vod, which means he spent at least some time off stream considering the puzzles, and the run took place over 15 streams giving a decent amount of time. It's also very abridged, his run took about 25 hours in real time which isn't particularly fast.
Chasing the Outer Wilds dragon is a double-edged sword. Watching other people get the magic is awesome, but you also develop a BS sensor for people who've spoiled it for themselves. Doing improbable things by "accident" or on a "hunch" once is a fluke, twice is a coincidence, three times is a phenomenon. You can see it in the contrast between what should be "whoa moments" that they have to fake surprise at. It's especially obvious if you've watched them have genuine "whoa moments", like this guy had in the original playthrough. Such a shame.
::)
really sad that someone out right spoiled the lantern room discovery instead of letting him find the answer :/
So who wants to share something today?
one of the dumbest playthroughs ive watched...
