Yellen on January 2021: I don't expect inflation will be a problem
March: We might have some minor but controlled inflation
June: We'll have several more months of rapid inflation
October: Inflation will ease by the second half of next year
November: It depends on the pandemic
    See a trend?

In stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, it may happen, but we should do nothing.
Stage three, maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.

Janet has been coached by Biden’s political strategists to put forward the most positive spin on the economy, but she really is a public servant that serves the public interest and the American people. She needs to acknowledge the very real economic pain people are struggling with due to the pandemic; not effectively acknowledging the problems and talking about realistic strategies to address them only further serves to alienate voters. Messaging is not a strategy, political strategists are not effective substitutes for policy strategists that can engage in effective management solutions. Overly generous monetary policy and poor policy supports for lower income households in this pandemic have undermined our ability to get the pandemic under control and secure public confidence in this administration. Really disappointed in Margaret’s interview, I’ve seen her push harder than this for answers and I’m surprised that CBS isn’t giving her more leeway to push for aspects of the economy that are affecting women the most, I thought that was the hole point of having her replace John Dickerson. If she isn’t willing to fight for better interviews, this is really just more political theater that fails to enlighten, educate and empower voters.

Not sure if you're aware of this or not Carol, but the Fed is solely responsible for inflation. Injecting more currency into a system flush with it already does not create any positive effects. More Fed intervention is not the answer, they will continue to exacerbate the issue. Unfortunately this is only the start of tough times.

It's rather entertaining to see all the dancing around to avoid mentioning raising taxes and interest rate to combat inflation, which is the only sure fire way to stop it. People are too dumb to save their money, they won't stop spending. As Paul Volcker proved in 80s you have to crank that interest rate up (he did it indirectly by stopping money supply) and cause short term pain to get the house back in order.

Maybe foreign governments or the public would buy those treasuries and bonds, but ultimately the Government does not control the economy despite your belief. The basics of capitalism is free market economy which means the Government does not control the economy, the means of production and distribution. Capitalism means that private parties control the economy and the Government because he who has control of the money controls the Government, not the other way around. Hopefully you can figure this out and spread the word, it is our only hope. I have my doubts because research takes work and most U.S. citizens are lazy.
