I feel like these youtubers know, they just don't care. There have been so many videos on betterhelp, surely before accepting a sponsorship, one should do their due diligence, especially from a commentary channel.

My hometown in Oklahoma has tap water that often runs brown, tastes terrible, and is rumored to possibly contain zinc due to a zinc smelter we had in the past. Because of this I have a very strong aversion to drinking tap water, even in areas where I'm told the water is fine. Unfortunately I believe undrinkable tap water may be more common in the US than we're led to believe..
yeah the Us surely has some big problems with tap water in some areas. But I can tell you in western europe (france germany netherlands etc) the tap water is no problem. But with hte Us being such a big country with some places with very backwards infrastrucute, I also wouldnt trust the tap water over there.
THAT INTRO👏🏽now I understand what my English teachers meant by an introduction that hooks the reader attention. I don’t know how you made a conversation about WATER so insightful👌🏽
Good Video. Another issue is the privatization of water companies, the last think that should be in the hands of the private market is our water. Privatizing water has created the most intense issues from Flint, to Mexican towns where Coke is literally cheaper then tap water (see, Chiapas Mexico), and UK companies that get paid by the tax payer to pump their own untreated sewerage straight back into the beach where people live. If people want to buy bottles of water, that has its own issues, This really does pale in comparison though to the of privatization of water corporations and the insanely toxic implications (pun intended). Honestly, look into this you will be shocked.
better help sponsorship, wow…. i’m sure all youtubers including amanda know about their controversies; my question is how much do they pay these influencers for them to keep promoting this thing? all these “liberal” and “aware” youtubers suddenly turn a blind eye, the money gotta be crazyyyy
@@alxxblu3 Same. Especially since not looking critical at sponsorships makes me doubt how well someone really researches their topics. My tolerance for sponsorships stops when they actively harm viewers.
Personally (Canadian) my tap water tastes gross. It has a heavy chlorinated flavour. However I still drink tap - I have a charcoal based filter jug that I run it through, and it gets rid of the chlorine taste. :)
I'm very lucky to live in a city in Canada known for its delicious tap water. The tap water here is nicknamed 'Government Soda', and most places have water bottle refill stations rather than selling bottled water.
@@sudanbabe p much all of metro van/lower mainland BC falls under the government soda zone. The areas where bottled water is hardly available are more localised and tend to be out near the universities, though I was at a baseball game yesterday and they had multiple water stations through + didn't see a single purchased bottle. It's not so much an environmental thing because there's still loads of plastic soda bottles etc, but bottled water just genuinely doesn't compete here (unless someone's been duped into alkaline water or similar)
genuinely fascinating in a scary way. tap water i love you forever. also shout out to when camebaks with rubber spouts were popular in 2010s and we were all giving ourselves mold poisoning bc you could NOT keep them clean
This was super interesting and I didn't know any of it! Very enlightening. Also had no clue that hydration was an 'invented' concept. I will say that where I am (NJ) our tap water sometimes runs brown before it turns clear so I would never feel comfortable drinking it.
The story at the start hit too close to home. When I was about 12/13 and heavily indoctrinated in tumblr I became obsessed with voss water bottles and wanted one so badly. to the point where I ordered an empty one off ebay, I didn’t even realise they came with water in them and just thought they were these aesthetic water bottles 💀💀
One of the other frustrating things about the lifestylification of water is that alkaline water is incredibly expensive, including for people who might actually need it for their health. I have weird problems with acid reflux-related stuff. It got so bad in my throat that I was losing the ability to speak and sing, and being able to use my voice is central to almost every part of my career! My doctor recommended, along with things like famotidine and sleep changes, that I drink alkaline water. It tastes like friggin' cardboard, but it helps my voice a lot. But a single bottle also costs so much dang money! We use a filter at home, so normally I'm just drinking purified tap water for free, or spring water as a treat, lol. I just hate that since alkaline water is somehow also fancy celebrity water, anyone who needs it also has to pay a ton. It's not as bad as the diabetes patients who aren't able to get Ozempic when they need it, but it's frustrating as hell!
I have crazy dry mouth problems due to anxiety and medication side effects which results in my mouth being more acidic than it’s supposed to, which eats at my enamel. And regular water makes my throat feel so dry because it washes all my saliva away and I don’t make more quickly 😭 alkaline water does nothing for your health once consumed but it makes it so much easier to drink water at all!! Just because of the mouth experience!!
Better Help doesn’t have qualified therapists nor is this approach of constant access to “therapy” actually proven to be helpful to individuals in their mental health improvement. It is a predatory model targeting people’s insecurities and fears, and is not a substitute of real mental healthcare.
Ironically, bottled water did actually have a small health benefit for some since water has different minerals depending on the water source. Minerals that some population may have had trouble finding in their local foods otherwise... but since they didn't know why it helped some people, it was often sold as having more benefits than it did
lol as a person who grew up chronically dehydrated and getting utis, seeing hydration as a hype tool is so weird. you mean most people arent able to pinch up the skin on the back of their hand if they go two hours w/o drinking? on the other hand, i did see alkaline water with lemon juice, which neutralize each other's base and acid nature, and it makes me laugh every time.
i understand excessive consumption of water may be an issue, but do you have any sources regarding consumption of water not being necessary at all and dehydration as a concept being manufactured by big water?
not related to the video but i really love seeing you and your confidence grow over the years!! really shows in the quality of the video, which is superb like always, but its so good to notice you having fun while recording it:)
i grew up in florida where the tap water was utterly undrinkable, of course everyone pretty much had one of those fridges that filter the water for you so it wasnt too much of an issue. i remember going to visit my dad who lived in new york, where the tap water was not only drinkable, but cold, and probablg the most delicious water ive ever tasted.. i was absolutely appalled to see him, his girlfriend, his girlfriends two kids and everyone else in the household drink ONLY bottled water all day long, they didnt have it if they needed to grab a water on the go, it was their only source of water. they would buy three cartons of it and go through that in a week or two. mind you i was 16, a proud member of the environmental conservation club and actively terrified of the new phenomenon of global warming, it was a nightmare to me
Ya know, bottled water could be popular nowhere except china, and it would still be a colossal problem because its all they drink. And its popular everywhere.
