      V21 and V20 will be identical on how to make it run faster so no video on that. Not a fan of making identical videos yearly. Same with Best render settings. The Voukoder plugin and render settings is all anybody ever needs.
      That's awesome man. I appreciate it! And I'll be uploading a few more within the coming days! Hopefully some more during the year, as well!

    I remember Vegas 17 to 18 decreased my render time by like 20 seconds on the same video test. Would you suspect that Vegas 21 would also have improved render times? And is it really worth it to upgrade?

    Thank you for this! I didn't even receive the usual e-mail invitation to upgrade at a reduced price, so when I read about version 21 I was caught by surprise. Of my purposes, v21 seems an unnecessary upgrade - unless someone attests that it is significantly more stable (or renders better) than v20.

    • @ScrapyardFilms
      @ScrapyardFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No problem! I'd say the biggest reason to upgrade would be to the Suite or Post version so you can get the new Mocha Vegas plugin and have amazing tracking in your videos.

    Hi Josh many thanks for this. Your channel is always my first port of call to find out something. In VEGAS Creative Software's video about Announcing VEGAS Pro 21 at about 2.02-2.13 there is a 8 video screen grid. Have you any idea how this was achieved? If so could you explain in simple layman terms for a septuagenarian please. Cheers John

    • @ScrapyardFilms
      @ScrapyardFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So to me it looks like they stacked 6 or 7 videos on the timeline and likely used the Pan/Crop tool to resize and mask them to fit in the exact spots they wanted. As far as I'm aware, VEGAS does not have an east drag-and-drop effect to achieve this, but instead has to be done manually. Now there may be 3rd party plugins that can do this for you but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

    I upgraded from Vegas 19 to 20 and lost the ability to upscale... it now tells me I need a specific AI bundle. It's a bit crappy that I spend money "upgrade" and lose a feature. Any thoughts? Does Vegas 21 bring back the upscale or will I still have to pay extra to get this feture back?

      That is correct. If you want to use RAW files, then need to be converted to ProRes (non-raw) files first. They're working on it and all the licensing that comes with it but their primary focus is AV1 from what I hear.

    I still use Vegas Pro 19 and knowing 21 is out or coming out, I wanted to ask if it's worth the upgrade. Skipping 20 and straight to 21, I have had lots of crashes with 19 so I'm hoping if by what you said about them finally getting the code to the 21st century that it will provide a more stable experience.

    for me to upgrade this depends on what the upgrade price is for 21. I did find Vegas 20 somewhat stuttery and I even still use Vegas 18 for some stuff.

  • @1650million
    @1650million ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I tried Vegas 18 back in the day, and I found it the most interesting editing software for PC, in the sense that it would allow me to do what I wanted to do FASTER, as a noob, leaving plenty of improvement as a "pro" software.
    However, the lack of paid courses, free courses, youtube tutorials... was/is terrible, compared with other pro softwares such as Premiere, Davinci, Final Cut...
    I do feel it´s a dying product, since it just doesn´t really have competitive support from the community. Heck, it´s probably easier to find tutorials for Filmora than it is for Vegas...
    As a non-professional, this is truly an issue.
    Best.

    • @fx-studio
      @fx-studio ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There marketing is more or less non-existent compared to other software.
      They lack key influencers in the industry supporting it.
      I recommend that to compete with Davinci they should give away an older version like V18 for free - that would be a huge draw for people starting out.

      Every time I upgrade versions, I always hold Control+Shift while double-clicking the new VEGAS desktop icon. Check that box and click Yes/Okay and let VEGAS reset to default. Then see how it performs.

    I switched from Vegas POST to the Resolve paid version earlier this year. I was curious what they did with 21, and what I see is they are adding some of the features already in Resolve. And ooh, they have ONE tutorial project. Compared to the tutorials for Resolve, this is not much. All their updates did was confirm why I switched. The comment below about Vegas dying is pretty true. In fact w/o 3rd party plugins I feel Vegas would have disappeared.

    • @DustinRudzinski
      @DustinRudzinski ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Resolve has been playing catch-up to VEGAS as well... such as only just recently adding a proxy system, audio mix automation, auto-ripple editing, resyncing audio and video, online project collaboration, etc. Some of those features VEGAS has had for nearly 20 years.

    • @DustinRudzinski
      @DustinRudzinski ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And Resolve still doesn't have an image editor, an online stock content library, it doesn't support scripting, doesn't have Mocha (it has a similar system, but nowhere near as good), it doesn't support anywhere near as many formats, it cannot export to anywhere near as many formats... There's a ton of things VEGAS does that Resolve cannot, and even more that it does better than Resolve.

    • @renehinojosa1962
      @renehinojosa1962 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Resolve is all about clicking, clicking and more clicking until you finally get a little bit done. I can get more done in Vegas with far fewer clicks that you're able to do in Resolved.

    • @DustinRudzinski
      @DustinRudzinski ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Every single NLE has their Pros and Cons. They're all lacking features the others have and all excel in ways others can't. It's all about preference and comfortability. I own VEGAS, Resolve, and Premiere for scenarios where I need something specific done that the others can't do. But when the day is over, I still prefer VEGAS over the others.

For example if you went to VEGAS' site (here's an affiliate link: edit.scrapyardfilms.com), scrolled down, and changed the purchase options around you can get the cheapest version of VEGAS for a total cost of $200 and own it for the rest of your life.
