    • @kenalier
      @kenalier 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree and the insane thing is its like he’s not trying to imitate his dad but being his son, there’s always going to be some resemblance to his dad somewhere and it’s in his voice and commanding presence, but it’s all natural JDW. He has his own talent and his own tremendous screen presence and he has done an incredible job in the lead role opportunities he’s had up to now and he will continue to open his own doors. But being Denzel’s son will always lead to never-ending comparisons which is unfair.

    Spike has been hot, but alot of his movies go over your head. Chiraq was dope, but misunderstood. Inside Man, He Got Game, Malcolm X (Greatest Movie of All Time) , Summer of Sam, 25th Hour, Do The Right Thing, Mo-Better Blues, Crooklyn, Clockers, School Daze, She's Gotta Have it. Plus he created the campaign for Jordan's. This guy is a GOAT.

    • @ARVvidz
      @ARVvidz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Muhammad I don't believe Malcolm X is the greatest movie of all time (maybe for you). For starters, it only has a 7.7 on IMDb. I did really enjoy BlacKkKlansman though.

    • @davidmuhammad8960
      @davidmuhammad8960 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL, who a rat's ass about IMDb...it is by the far the GOAT of movies...lmfao at IMDb...like they matter

    • @ARVvidz
      @ARVvidz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Muhammad I mean, if you're going to objectively say it is the greatest movie of all time, that can't just be your opinion, right? Most 'top movies of all time' lists, if not all, wouldn't even have Malcolm X anywhere in it, that's fact. IMDb is where people give their ratings, so if the overall rating is 7.7 how can you say it is the 'GOAT' of all movies. Even Deadpool has a higher rating. It's fine if you think that it is the best, but it comes of a little weird when you say it is as if it's a fact. There is no 'GOAT', because films are all subjective, even if they were - The Godfather, Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Citizen Kane, etc. Those are the names you hear, not Malcolm X.

    • @davidmuhammad8960
      @davidmuhammad8960 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of those lists are "descendents" of the culturally biased and institutionally racist social structure called white supremacy, much like Hollywood itself. So certainly when it comes to people of color and so-called blacks in particular, one has to enable their own power to define. IDMb and other so-called objective mechanisms are merely opinions as well, mostly culturally biased ones at that. Moreover, all art is subjective in nature, which takes all the teeth out of your premise of obectivity. Lastly, given the socio-economic and cultural context in which the film was made, even adds to its greatness. Further, all the films you named were "white" movies" thus making my point for me. Black people certainly CANNOT allow a racist (cant' be debated) social framework to judge its contributions. Read "Wretched of the Earth" by Franz Fanon or "Cultural Bandits" by Del Jones to inform your context. Malcolm X is by far the best film of all time, nothing is even close. Shalom.

    Saw it last night. Walked out. It was atrociously, embarrassingly awful. Whatever talent Spike Lee once held, it's clearly gone. I feel legitimately rooked out of $15 plus that lame $1.50 cinema online surcharge.

    • @martinhyizna3299
      @martinhyizna3299 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the film fails on a fundamental level in its failure to convincingly convey the necessary authenticity of a period piece. It was embarrassingly obvious, like for example the token historic vehicles used in street scenes. I mean every vehicle was a historically preserved perfect shiny Ford Pinto or Chevy Nova, and it was obvious these were historic vehicles garage-kept and waxed regularly. That's not what they looked like back in 1971. They were dirty just like everything else. And the props were obvious and blatant, like for example the "NIXON AGNEW' poster in the interior of a Klansman's home. That's actually what finally did it for me, I was like enough of this insulting tokenism. Most important though was that the sense of believability was utterly vacant and missing, and yes I'm well aware it's "based on a true story." But that means nothing in the world of filmmaking. and Spike Lee, who was once a great filmmaker, knows that. The director needs to put it all together in a remarkable and memorable way. I just feel Lee didn't do that here, and in fact didn't even come close. It's worth mentioning however, the lead actor John David Washington is remarkable and fascinating. He has his own individual charisma and magnetism, which he clearly inherited from his father but it comes out in a new and unique way. I completely get that Spike Lee saw this and he gets credit for casting him.

    • @martinhyizna3299
      @martinhyizna3299 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The inner torment Adam Driver's character supposedly is going through over his Judaism was utterly revolting and not at all believable. It was a reach for the actor Adam Driver and even more of a reach for Spike Lee, who has a history of not understanding American Jews and caricaturing themin derogatory fashion in his films. It needs to be mentioned because in the film it is the lynchpin connecting the suffering of Blacks with the suffering of Jews, which is, as the film tries, the supposedly common ground the two lead actors share. But it's just not believable. The struggle of Jewish people is utterly lost on Spike Lee, and this blind spot can be seen quite clearly & painfully in "BlacKkKlansman." It's bad acting and badly rendered. Only John David Washington made it bearable but even he could not prevent me from walking out early.

    • @martinhyizna3299
      @martinhyizna3299 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also the soundtrack- was VERY VERY Tarantino with a capital TARANTINO. Without being redundant, it was embarrassingly derivative of Tarantino. The dancing scene with the Cornelius Brothers and the lead actress with her 1970 gold oval tinted glasses felt staged and unnatural. I'm a huge Cornelius Brothers fan and a huge Looking Glass fan too, so when "Brandy" played I felt it was gratuitous. Easy. And again, very Quentin Tarantino, and not in a kind of sort of complimentary influential way- I'm talking direct theft.

    • @martinhyizna3299
      @martinhyizna3299 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For a little perspective, I'll also mention I'm a big Malcolm X fan, the movie I mean but of course the man, too. Do The Right Thing was great, too and I like Inside man and Clockers. So I am what one might call a Spike lee fan. Perhaps that's what accounts for my disappointment.

  • @martinhyizna3299
