Yeh. It's meant to be sad. That's the point. Life is sad sometimes. And sometimes bad people do bad things to make life sad. But it's uplifting as well. The willpower of humanity is something that can only be described sometimes either through poetry or its musical equivalent and this is a prime example of that.

The quality of his violin tones seem richer than all others I have heard.The Cinema Paradiso brought me to tears. wondered if his instrument is finer than some of the others.
I thought had heard music similar to this in a movie ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST.sure enough the love them in it was by same composer.But the hauntingly beautiful Melody from Cinema Paradiso stayed with me for days.Renaud plays with soul in his rendering of lovely music.
