    Can we please just take a moment to appreciate Edwin's cinematography. There are few channels that put this much effort into every upload. I doubt most people understand how long it takes to setup every shot. The beauty's, pans, push in's, time lapse's, the MOVING time lapses, slow mo, the action shots etc etc... And then add audio, multiple angles and editing. I just really appreciate this channel. Thank you guys. Ethan gets down in the shop too. Fab god.

    @Grind Hard Plumbing Co. Put the tap in the Chuck in the tailstock, leave the tailstock unclamped from the lathe, put it in it's lowest gear and feed the tap in. Reverse the lathe to pull it out. Simple perfect tap every time.👍🏻

    It's quite safe to powertap in a lathe, hold the tap in the tailstock chuck, and use a low gear. Back up using reverse every few rotations to break the chips.

    • @trillrifaxegrindor4411
      @trillrifaxegrindor4411 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on tap drill size,material,tap condition,through or blind hole,cutting fluid used and several other variables.a tap handle is far easier to control and feel the cut.

    • @Shortsircut1
      @Shortsircut1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly my thoughts, however it would seem he needs to readjust/replace the drive belts on the lathe to accomplish this, and it appears it does not have reverse. I have been a T&D maker for a very long time and running a tap in a drill chuck/tail stock is the best way to tap a hole on a lathe except for the rare weird ass issue that might arise causing you to do it with a handle instead, and then you should keep it straight by using a center in the tail stock. It looks here to be a 1/2" or maybe 5/8" tap he is using into what appears to be CRS. At that size his lathe clearly does not have the nads to drive the tap the way the belts are now.

    Face it! Quality parts trim China is not a phrase we hear too often... but it reminds me of being a kid in the 1960s! My uncles put a McCulloch chain saw engine on a go-kart frame. We had to push (or pull) it with a pickup truck to start it, but it ran well over 80 mph. Finding brakes good enough to stop it dependably was a challenge, but we survived... AND WE HAD A BALL!

    You guys are awesome, the projects you come up with just makes my head spin. You should check into having a race with different categories of machines and show of all kinds of creations. I know there is a lot of guys out there who are into this hobby. You would be surprised.

      10k? Heck no this can be done with much less. For 10k you can buy: tube bender with a couple dies $1000, a decent welder from Esab or LE, Miller $2000, welding supplies like a couple cylinders, Helmet, etc $500. Couple grinders 7" and 5" with attachments $350. Hand tools and some power tools $300. That is the majority of the cost; tools. And let's face it, Odds are your first mistake is thinking you could build this without any technical training. After that, getting an engine is easily done with $1000. Steel is cheap unless you live in Hawaii or Alaska. The other bits you can fabricate or just buy cheaply. Besides, you won't be putting expensive ass parts in something like this. Then, If you spent this much on tools you know where to go get stuff machined and you likely have enough knowledge to know what will work and what won't, when to buy and when to fabricate. 10k... no way bro

    The proof of an excellent "adapter" (and for like anything) ... IS .. you do not have to modify EITHER item you are adapting! ... So YOURS is in effect perfect. If you have break down, you can use stock parts on either side of the adapter to repair it! ...EXCELENT JOB !!!
