In this episode, I try a government-issued MRE (Meal Ready to Eat), a package of food that is given to our US soldiers out on the field. I'm going to try the items in this package and rate each one. Let's hope this isn't too gross.

13 years later. i watched this when i was 12. a simpler time. im an adult now. but i came back to remember a simpler time and shed a tear for when things were simpler. i doubt Ian thought he would make such an impact. but these older videos are my childhood

Ian I wanted to let you know why they dont gove that much wipes (TP) in your MRE. Its loaded with so many preservatives and has so much sodium its supposed to make your crap more solid so you wont need to wipe as much. Fun fact. Thouroughly enjoyed this while here in afghanistan

I was training in my advance individual training in the army based on the job that i picked, and i just got out of Basic Combat training, so i've been eating A LOT of different MREs. Personally, PERSONALLY!!! my best entree is either the chicken fajita, or the beef ravioli. Some MREs have the pretzel cheddar filling crackers, amazing, others have basic cheese and crackers (Jalapeno cheese is the best because it blocks out the rubbery flavor) and some even has poptart, skittles, twizzlers, m&m's, and cheeze-its! There's even a chocolate fudge brownie as well! A typical MRE packs in a lot of calories! An average packs like 1200-1500 calories. The fudge brownie itself has 330 calories! So it's a great type of energy food when it comes to physical training and a lot of sweating, but it's NOT good if you do nothing physical wise!

You buy them at army cyrplus stores
The US opens up stores called Military Surplus Supplies (or something similar)
Were when they have way to much stuff for a local PD or if its the national guard they will send them there usually. So sometimes you see police pistol vest or even a flat jacket (yes i have seen 1 lol) But MRE's usually cost about $20 or if you were in the national guard when you leave for break you can take some usually in my state

I’ve bought a few MRE’s, and the quality is absolutely better than the damn school, government-owned food they throw in the cafeterias. They put some decent quality into the MRE’s. I came back to this video cuz I just ordered a few more, gonna try then put with my cousin when they arrive.

Aww you were lucky to get the lemon lime drink. The only drink I ever get from the MRE's that my dad brings home from training with military is the vanilla milkshake and it tastes like week old barfed up barf.

The correct way to have the base powder is to either:
A. Pour canteen into the bag and shake or,
B. pour powder on mouth, pour water into mouth

Has anyone here ever tried a MRE? After a day in the wood's doing different exercises and making shelter, they actually taste pretty good. And that field one's the give to the actual soldier's are better, and they make them to make you feel at home(With different special dishes and condiment's) . And no I am not a soldier, I don't pretend to be one. I just like survival.

It's simply a myth from soldier to soldier, I grew on MREs and the gum never acted as a laxitive, which I ate almost all the time XD especially the cinnamon ones xP
