Janette goes sorta undercover to an Amish chicken auction. If you're curious about them you might get a little taste of the culture. Music by Knobtown Skiffle Band.
I loved this video so much. I just found your channel and I am now a subscriber. It felt like I was there as you walked around doing the video. Have a great weekend....Calvin
Windsor Missourri??? What??!! I went out there once a year to visit my Amish grandparents, Andy Weavers, when I was a kid. They're both dead and gone now. That's neat tho. We had some fun times in Windsor when I was a kid!!
thanks for the great video! Am I correct to assume the cages go with the birds? So those really good cages some have...do they make the birds more expensive? Just wondering how that part works! Thanks!
@@TheNealsHomestead thank you for the answer! I thought as much...as almost nothing is wasted...the value of a good cage included! I appreciate your videos! :)
In northern Indiana, I would always go to Yoder's Market. Behind the meat counter was an Amish man who cut and sold fresh meats.ans wonderful whole chickens. I always called them Amish chickens in talking with my wife. So we wanted to bring home 20 and put them in the freezer for future use. So I asked the butcher if he had any Amish chickens. He said, quote "I am Amish. There's no such thing as a Amish chicken" He was so indignant. So I said back to him,"well don't get your feathers in a ruffle"
@@TheNealsHomestead I'm in Kansas city. I've checked and I think it's only 2hr away. My husband and I love to go places like this. Do they have a website? I can Google it.
They'll probably have one the end of summer/ beginning of fall. I'll try to remember to let you know. If you do facebook, and want to, you can send me a friend request. Janette Neals Homestead

Always nice to wake up to a new video from you, but I guess I was not quite awake, because my 1st thought was "Amish Chickens?"
Haha! Thank you, Mr Troll! Hope all is well up north.

That's a lot of birds! Those geese were huge!
+Whistle Thicket This was actually a smaller than normal group. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Janette

The cages do go with the animals. Sometimes, when there's an especially nice cage, they ask extra while auctioning it off.

That's a funny story! They are pretty touchy about the use of the word Amish. They don't like it when people use it to advertise. Thanks for watching.
Why didn't you show any of the auction I've seen chickens and the stuff??
Where is this at? Can you tell me the name of the place? I would love to go.
Its just outside of Windsor Missouri. Are you near there?

Only in Missouri
So'd you get anything?
No, i didn't get anything. I did sell my pig feeders for a good price, though. Thanks for watching!
Glad you were able to get a good price for your feeders. It looked like a really interesting auction.
They have them three times a year. This one was actually smaller than normal. Have a great day! - Janette
That's cruel to have so many chicks in a cage. I have severe claustrophobia and might be looking at it different but don't like it.

I love this. Can you give me address auctions in Savannah Georgia please
