sorry to say but it's actually a skill issue that's the KV-1E, additional armour plate on the side and front of the turret (75mm base + 20/25mm plate) and side of the hull (75mm base + 25mm plate) well and you shot both the side of the turret and the additional armoured plate on the side of the hull ^^
it's still pretty stupid that the game shows penetration holes in the spots where he shot. I think the marks on tanks are bugged. Whenever I get penetrated and survive, I usually get the chance to look at the "hole" in my tank where it was penetrated and it looks like a bounce because it's just a scrape in the armor. But when I bounce rounds on enemy tanks, they always show as literal holes in the spots where I shot. It's like they've been switched. I know, skill issue. Gaijin needs more skill in making a game.
Since you have around 140 comments stating its a KV-1e, I just wanna make it 141 comments stating that you did an analysis on the KV1, not the KV-1e, which has more armor than the basic KV1.

KV-1s generally have trolly armors especially with the introduction of volumetric armors. You could say it's sometimes even tougher than Tiger Is which is ridiculous

@GreenWithers kv1 zis 5 and e/b have better hull armor than a tiger because their side are all at least 75mm instead of 60mm on the tigers lower side with the same frontal armor

KV1 in the match is different from the first KV1. There were additional armors in the match as well. (For those who don't understand.)
