Automatic DPF regen option will show up in the Scorpio-N only if the vehicle is started and in the 'N' (neutral) gear. It will not show up in the 'P' or 'D' gear, which is a gear most of us normally keep it in. Source: Real life experience.

Exactly, It usually happens over time and as per your driving conditions. Mine got this error after 25k only as I usually drive it in the city...
Kudos to the electricals, was able to sort it out within 15 min through DPF regen...

Regen ka option tb aayega all headlights turned on ac full speed and then regen option will show up and will be locked around 2k rpm for almost 30 mins. And after it it'll be as good as new.
