Really nice find mate and does look the part for sure. Love that old school brown colouring and can see why you grabbed this. Shame about the firmware issue but as long as its solvable as you've done might grab this myself. Thanks for the review 👍🏴🤘
I love the aesthetic of this little gem. So late 70s early 80s, just perfect. Shame they didn't fit on a home button. It could have had it discreetly situated at the back, but I'll forgive it 😉
The 8bitdo products all need a firmware updadate and the same applies with retro bit products too. 8bitdo generally have nice controllers. However I'm a bit of a stickler for authenticity and would most likely get the official Switch Online Famicom editions. That being said I own the original NES NSO SNES NSO and Japanese 6 button Mega Drive NSO controllers they are all very solid, well made and good. I use my NES and SNES ones for my modded SNES classic mini and use a blutooth dongle that you can buy from 8bitdo. This kind of does remind me I need to get a move on and get the Turbografx/PCengine 8bitdo controller as it's the only wireless solutution for my Core Grafx PC Engine Mini. Good video btw.
@@segahead660 My friend Rob has one and he plays on his PC Engine Mini with it and swears by it now, I played on it once ages ago, my only issue is I can't remember if their is any way to adjust the top auto fire buttons like you can with the original controllers you get.
The controller looks nice for sure. I was so excited when Gameboy was added to NSO. I charged up my official NES switch controller and while it does work there is a pretty much the same problem as with your controller. The shoulderbuttons are L and R not ZL and ZR so I had to remap the buttons. I was still pissed. When you use the NES controller on the NES games for NSO the button layout changes. L and R can take you out of the game, take screenshots and even back to the home menu. Why couldn't they add that for the gameboy games aswell?
Well i had the n30 and the wired usb enabled on the switch and it would randomly drop bluetooth connection...returned...replaced..same thing so back again...the best 8bitdo i have is deffo the tg16 pads that somehow i got for 15quid...followed by the pro 2 wired (which i have in gameboy stylee). You could try venturing into the realms of retro bit legacy16 also which is actually a pretty damn good 20quid snes style pad.
I got the same keyring with my SFC30 controller. I am starting to find 8bitdo a bit hit and miss at the moment, either they are not consistent in their manufacturing or they have 2 different plants making their controllers and one is a bit crappy than the other. When you get one that works and feels great then they are great but had a few that felt off and just didn't work as well at all. Bluetooth sync on one was impossible, had another that wouldn't charge at all.
To be fair, I call it 8BitDooooo too because I have a speaker by them that says it that way when powered on. That first bit of plastic was the controller's bondage add-on. Also, close up shots--good grief this thing looks absolutely TINY. Definitely looks cool though; shame about the added hoops of syncing it and no menu functionality.
Mr. Sega head, thanks for the short and concise yet straight to the point review. I think you said you don't notice any lag. Just wondering, since the video, has your opinion changed? I love this little guy but hesitate to grab anything not 2.4ghz// What's your latest take on it?
I have mAJOR advice for you! I am going to be your favorite person after this. But I do recomdn get youyrself a real 6 buton retrobit or someuthing with the genesis layout, that weay it doe s the genesis best too! But my major adivce for this gamepad,. goto switch settings>scontroler settings> remap buttons! In the sstem u can remap the buttons so L1 Zl swap and r1 Zr swap, so u can access the virtual console menu to save and stuff. U can do this inthe sytsem so any game u wanna reprogram' U can then xsave the profie so it is savbed ready for use any time.

Thanks man 😀 hope the firmware link helps out if you do get the controller
@@segahead660 seriously thinking about it and sure it will mate. Thanks and have a good weekend 👍🍺🏴

Fingers crossed they will release another famicom style controller in the future

I've been recommended the Turbo Grafx controller by 8bit...dough, several times now.
Would you say its that good?

Because that would be what the customer wants, and that ain't the Nintendo way

Is that the new retrobit controller? I went to buy it recently but the postage nearly matched the controller price 😞

I still use it for the Gameboy and NES games on switch and never notice anything bad about it 😀 glad you liked the vid 👍

8 bit du that the right way

Because of course it was supposed to be pronounced like Nintendo...
What an incredibly silly person.
Does this mean I've been saying Cookie Dough wrong all these years 🤔
