I was only 15 and playing with my homies the Mello Kings I was already losing my voice but I was blessed I could play the drums I played for these awesome guys has a sit-in have one of the doo-wop concerts a million years ago. it was an awesome awesome song
There's so much doowop out there, both good and bad. This definitely falls into that category of good. It's honest and heartfelt, oh and performed very, very well.
This is certainly a perfect doo-wop song with a beautiful melodic progression. Dennis, your voice is great, and full of the feeling that is so lacking in much of today's music.
Thanks to PJ Doowop and TH-cam, myself and no doubt many others in the UK would never have been able to listen to this great music, as so few of these classics were released in the 50s and 60's here.at that time. I don't know why but I'm grateful that I am able to now! Thanks again!!
This was played Friday (November 30) on Roots of Rock the local weekly show KBOO 90.7 FM 3-4PM Fridays. This was my first time hearing it and it got my attention instantly. A great one for sure and thanks for sharing it on You Tube for the world to enjoy. You're AWESOME P.J.
My favorite of all the released records by Dennis & the Explorers, and that is not to say that the others, including B sides, were any less stellar than this one ... but this one resonates with me just as it did when I first heard it on a Murray the K 'best of 5 new releases' that evening or week! I ran off to Pete the Greek's record shop on St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights to buy it as I knew Pete would have at least one copy awaiting me.
Of course it is. In similar vein, I had the very first Ravens lp with a small label on it indicating that it came from a Ted Steele collection at his radio station.
How could this NOT sell?! --- It has everything embodied by Doo Wop: nice melody, great harmony, occasional falsetto, good beat, solid refrain, and excellent mixing. What more could you ask for? Payola, maybe?...! Dennis: I posted this comment on Facebook 2 Aug 2016. GREAT JOB on the recording --- it's beautiful, and has everything. BTW, did it sell? Hope you made something! Best, Bill S., Oceanside, CA.
Hi Dennis, many greetings from France and many thanks for all good sounds! Still fresh and hard to find harmony that built modern music, you can be glad to be a pioneer!
Don't be a fool When I kiss you good night Don't be a fool When I hold you tight You know I love you So don't be a fool Don't be a fool By playing your games For if you do My love will then change But if you love me Don't be a fool You tell me you love me You tell me you care Then when I said the same Your love you don't want to share You run around be with other guys When I'm not there Tell me darling Why am I suppose to care Don't be a fool By playing your games For if you do My love will then change But if you love me don't be a fool
Great Doo Wop...Best time to be a teenager was when we had dances and wore clothes without holes.......The bands had class, dress, and all.
At the sock hops on Friday evenings, there may have been some holes in the socks; usually could not wear shoes in the gyms.
The best time in human history to be young.
Somehow you're right but ain't so true unfortunately most of those genious singer as they were black
what ???
Well if that’s the case lets all be forever young
Couldn't agree more!

Press the like button.
Don't be a fool
When I kiss you good night
Don't be a fool
When I hold you tight
You know I love you
So don't be a fool
Don't be a fool
By playing your games
For if you do
My love will then change
But if you love me
Don't be a fool
You tell me you love me
You tell me you care
Then when I said the same
Your love you don't want to share
You run around be with other guys
When I'm not there
Tell me darling
Why am I suppose to care
Don't be a fool
By playing your games
For if you do
My love will then change
But if you love me
don't be a fool
