- This has everything you could possibly want out of a doo wop song.. If I were to chose one song to exemplify the doo wop sound for someone, this song would definitely come to mind. One of the few songs issued by The Explorers.. They may have lacked in volume, but they issued 6 great songs on Coral.

Great Doo Wop...Best time to be a teenager was when we had dances and wore clothes without holes.......The bands had class, dress, and all.
At the sock hops on Friday evenings, there may have been some holes in the socks; usually could not wear shoes in the gyms.
Now this is Doo Wop.... Our young lives were all about the memories and this song takes me back.
The best time in human history to be young.

Heard it first in 1971 on Roy Adams doo wop show which was on from Midnight until I think 2am Monday mornings in NYC.
Excellent group and tune. Another song by them, 'Vision of Love' is another that defines doo wop at it's best. Thanks.
This is certainly a perfect doo-wop song with a beautiful melodic progression. Dennis, your voice is great, and full of the feeling that is so lacking in much of today's music.

My favorite of all the released records by Dennis & the Explorers, and that is not to say that the others, including B sides, were any less stellar than this one ... but this one resonates with me just as it did when I first heard it on a Murray the K 'best of 5 new releases' that evening or week! I ran off to Pete the Greek's record shop on St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights to buy it as I knew Pete would have at least one copy awaiting me.
I like to read the comments here on TH-cam, they are a true Journey in Time ...

Thanks to PJ Doowop and TH-cam, myself and no doubt many others in the UK would never have been able to listen to this great music, as so few of these classics were released in the 50s and 60's here.at that time. I don't know why but I'm grateful that I am able to now! Thanks again!!

I just noticed the great Dick Jacobs directed the orchestra. He of course is the guy who arranged the four Buddy Holly records just a couple months before Buddy died. I heard nothing but nice things about Dick. Sad to say he was a victim of a supposedly random mugging/murder in NY.

PJ--this group is unique cool. The X's probably represent which side for the DJ to play. I worked on a job at a radio show telecast place in Delaware years ago as a young Carpenter and I was offerred some boxes of old 45 records that had stick on notes saying 'play this side only', usually A sides I guess. Turns out that the B sides were sometimes better than the A sides.
