its called tremelo, look it up, what it is is strumming down with your thumb and each string down you go you strum the high string with your ring middle and index, or middle and index.
This song is AMAZING. I prefer this version millions of times more because his voice doesn't blend into the music to the point of losing the lyrics like the electric version does.
Could some gifted person please post a tutorial to play this track like he does? might be difficult, but I would really like to play this version on my own! thanx a lot!!!
It's such sad music but it makes me feel so good... By far my favorite musician of all time
Man I only really discovered Elliott smith like 5 years ago. I live in Toronto! If I new about him back then I could of seen him! AARGH
Elliot is such an underrated guitarist and is personally one of my favorites
watch elliott playing some figure 8 songs live is the best things u can hear, so special...
I remember the first time I heard this tremolo in the intro, it was almost as if I had no reaction, it was a magical discovery.
Hauntingly beautiful.
I love this song so much
Really saddening to know I will never get to see him play. What a brilliant man.
This is Town Hall, New York, 02.22.2000
Awesome! Love, love, love this song!
i once stood in front of one of elliott's shows and im still amazed
i know the rule is "nobody's perfect"
but...i just watched it happen
i get chills when i hear this.
PERFECT!

Everything I've read indicates he would've preferred a chair.

That shitty chair bothers me....it's should have been a throne.

@clf23Hunter Just a figure of speech, I understand what you're saying though
He is dead.
His music lives forever
