This movie really taught me a lesson to never go after something or someone that you think is better when you already have something good whether it be a job, wife/husband, house or anything. He literally gave up everything for carmen because he thought they were in "love" and the story ended up with him losing everything that he had and two people lost their lives. Everything may seem great and exciting in the beginning but that doesn't mean it could result in tragedy.
Hill’s friend was actually trying to save him prior to this scene. He told him to leave Cali(hinting that Hill already told him where he’s going) but he didn’t listen, so he had let Miller handle it. He probably didn’t expect Miller to try and kill him, probably thought he was gonna arrest him.
She was a toxic young woman & jezebel soul unfortunately. Her ways led her to a young death manipulating men for money & opportunities. She used a lot of men I believe and was always messing with other women men. However, the cop was an idiot and he should’ve knew much better than to lose his entire life/career over lust. It was lust that drove him out his damn mind for Carmen, she played him and he was dumb from the beginning.
Carmen: A Hip Hopera a 2001 TV movie produced by MTV and New Line Cinema was based off the classic Carmen Jones. The original version Carmen went to a boxing match, in this version she and her friends went to a blaze concert. Her lover strangled her in the original version while in this version she was shot by a dirty cop. I hate the fact that dirty cop killed Carmen Brown when the bullet was meant for Lt. Hill
+Ashley Bradley thats Carmen jones. the Italian carmen which is the original she is stabbed by jose. Carmen jones with Dorothy dandrige she does get choked to death in a broom closet. that was crazy. Carmen always dies
Edwin Lopez I know right, as much as I was a fan of Mos Def but his character Lt. Miller had it coming for fatally shooting Carmen Brown which the bullet was meant for Hill
Alott women don’t have what Carmen has just like alott women didn’t have what Marilyn Monroe had goddess energy some are born with it and it just exudes. And it can take over a man I’ve seen it happen.
I remember seeing this part as a little kid. I didn't see it until I was a little bit older, because I was only 1 when this was released. Can't believe she was only 19 years old.
This movie really has a moral of the story. Understand that it was kinda like lust to me. He was sexually attracted to her body she lead him on by seducing him and he fell for it. Dee supposedly would do “anything” for his gf and give her the world but hey it wasn’t true. It’s kinda like he was tricked it’s both their fault they thought they would have a future together and everything he cheated on a good gf for her (I love Beyoncé don’t get me wrong) but right. It was all lustful and Carmen kinda had her own downfall too. Should have never lead him on yk. ? Moral of the story is also just don’t be lustful and think about what ur doing.
Right. I like Beyoncé to. This character wise, she was the definition of a young jezebel archetype. She used men for opportunities, money, and perks that’s what I sensed. She was also the type who was troubled woman and had a history for messing with another woman’s boyfriend or husband. That bar owner mentioned how she was a troubled young girl always in fights or messing with another woman’s man. So yeah she was a toxic soul unfortunately. Fake would’ve turned her into a cold hearted person because with money, he would’ve just gave her more access to use people. She probably would’ve left those friends behind to, they were her support system when she was struggling but her aura gave off like she was in it for herself despite her faking like she wanted all them to win. If she switched on men like that oh she would’ve switched on women to. Lastly, she was fame hungry so she did anything to get where she needed to be. She was not in love with the cop. She used him for the time being and led him on with sex/her beauty that’s all. She was about to do the same to the rapper Blaze , she was ready to basically sleep her way up in Hollywood to get a acting contract deal or movie deals. She was desperate to be famous and was creating trouble in people lives. I always wondered why her friends were affiliated with a toxic soul like her lol smh. I wouldn’t be proud my best friend was dating a married man or doing all those dark things. I would’ve definitely had to distance myself from her with all that toxic stuff going on. I would’ve called her out or had a talk with her. Her friends were fame hungry as well in their own way. They were trying to be models, actors, and the other one a rapper. They were clout chasers it seemed like low key, who didn’t know how to go about being successful the right way. They just wanted to get out of the hood and wanted wealth but they went about it wrong. The club & the bar was their pick up spot to see if they could get ballers, musicians, and rappers attention it seemed to get in those men entourages so they can get a come up. Anyways yeah Carmen was headed down to sleep with blaze, she saw how he was smitten by her looks to so she thought about it and realized she could just sleep with him and movie audition opportunities. She didn’t want no love life and marriage with the cop. She led him on to think that. She wanted a wealthy damn man who could get her to be famous. The cop he should’ve definitely knew better. He had a nice normal fiancé that he cheated on after being manipulated by a woman’s body. He was manipulated by Carmen with sex & beauty & her body that’s all it was. It’s crazy how lust can make a man go insane like that. It drove him to his demise of a life prison sentence, I wish the movie would’ve should him being escorted to his cell or in court but that whole situation with Miller was crooked. Miller was only bullying him and after him because he knew Hill knew his dirty work when they arrest people. The law enforcement started to realize it was one of their own who was doing dirty crimes or letting off bad criminals but they didn’t know who it was, so Miller knew they would’ve found out it was him which is why he picked a weaker cop to set him up to take the downfall which was Hill. He saw hill as a easy target, he also saw how he could’ve doubled downed on him with Carmen messy lustful sexual situationship. He the one told Hill fiancé where he was at Carmen apartment. I always thought it was strange Carmen left him there the next morning without a care, that should’ve been his last time ever dealing with her when he saw how she moved like a snake. Nope he became more infatuated with her through prison letters and just whipped to the gods through her writings and sending him roses. Unfortunately hill let sex & lust drive him over the hinges like that and he became obsessed with Beyoncé character Carmen. It crazy how sex can create issues with people, when you’re involved with the wrong person who you had no business with. He ended up with double homicide charges over a superficial young fame hungry girl who manipulated him with sex/her looks and a crooked cop that he could’ve been ratted out to be thrown in prison. I know it’s a movie form ages ago but it’s crazy to analyze these things once you’re older now, I seen it in a different light than as a child. You notice all the fake dirty grimy things Carmen was doing. She was a seductress definitely and used men. She got what she wanted out of them then she would either ghost them or just use them for money/dinners or clothes or opportunities. She caused her own demise not some tarot cards. The cop who she played also caused his own demise.

It remains a mystery to me what happened to Derek Hill after the death of Carmen Brown, all I know he was wrongfully arrested for her murder, but he killed Lt. Miller in self defense
Lt. Miller was about to shoot Derek Hill, instead the bullet hit Carmen Brown and shortly after Carmen died Hill and Miller fought until Miller fell to his death. Then Derek Hill was wrongfully arrested due to the fact that Carmen Brown was shot when it was Miller who shot Carmen Brown
I just love how the Beyhive continuously justifies Beyonce's horrible acting in this movie by saying crap like, "She was young and it was her first movie". There are plenty of great actors and actresses who started out younger than she was in this film. Beyonce is a 10/10 performer but a 4.5/10 actress, at best.
Everyone is not great when they start out I don’t think it was bad it just wasn’t good y’all got to let people make mistakes but at the same time she was young and this was her first film she learned and or learning how to be better
He came to murder her & Hill together. If he couldn’t get Hill to go down for his dirty crimes he was doing as a lieutenant of the police force. He was a dirty criminal who was dealing drugs with criminals & letting off killers. Their police department started to crack down and was getting down to who was doing all this dirty work and helping those criminals. So if he couldn’t get him arrested, he decided to murder them. He killed Beyonce because she knew about the whole cop situation to and he did it to double down on Hill to hurt him. He knew Hill was lustfully sexually blinded by Beyoncé body/looks which it would’ve made him go insane. Hill could’ve been told on Mos Def but he kept it a secret out of fear. I felt Mos Def would’ve eventually killed both of them together or he would’ve killed one or the other depends on which one he would’ve gotten to first.
The cards didn’t matter. Her life was headed the wrong path from the beginning. She was fame hungry & a toxic manipulator & a jezebel. So eventually something would’ve happened to her. She ruined lives and I believe she had more male victims but the movie never went more in depth like they should’ve with the whole Carmen storyline.

NOOOO!!!!!😪😪😪😪
The cards did say death doh
Karma was coming for Carmen
The cards didn’t matter. Her life was headed the wrong path from the beginning. She was fame hungry & a toxic manipulator & a jezebel. So eventually something would’ve happened to her. She ruined lives and I believe she had more male victims but the movie never went more in depth like they should’ve with the whole Carmen storyline.
Justice!!!!!!!
