Crochet Sparkly Summer Sun Hat Part 1

- Crochet a sun hat. This video is from round 1 to round 12.
Materials used:
Medium 4 weight 100% cotton yarn(I love this cotton brand)
Crochet hook: Size G or 4.25mm
30 round Pearls(I guess the size is 8 or 9mm, no size label on packaging when I bought it).
Tapestry needle
Fabric stiffening spray(you can also use a wire on the brim)
Correction for round 2: Ch 1, 2SC in same St and in each stitch around.
The diameter from round 1 to 12 is 6.75inch..
Hat's size: Fit's teenager/small adult
My mannequin head circumference is 21 inches & this hat fits perfectly on it. For changing hat's size, I usually use different crochet hook sizes. When you use smaller hook like size E & F, It's going to be a smaller hat & for bigger hat, bigger hook like size I & H.
Abbreviations used:
St/s -Stitch/es
HDC -Half double Crochet
SC- single Crochet
Ch- Chain

I made this beautiful hat (minus the beads and flower) in Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn in aqua color for a neighbor, adding millinery wire to the edge of the brim. As a beginner/intermediate crocheter, I was amazed it turned out so perfect (like a store-bought hat!), thanks to Lyza's easy-to-follow instructions. Will be looking for more of Lyza's wonderful tutorials. 😍

I have been working this pattern, as you work in your video. It keeps coming out to 8-9 inches in diameter i even ripped it out and tried with a smaller gauge hook. I went from a G to an F . It is still 9 inches after row 12. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love your design

Very nice vid. Tqvm for sharing.but,correct me if i'm wrong. The instruction for round 2, after 2SC in same st as joined, isn't it 2SC in each st around? Then only it'll become 20st at the end of the round

Mine came out an inch wider. Not sure how that happened. Used acrylic yarn with size G hook. Will this affect the end results?

@Lyza Walters, I want to make this hat for a baby with a head circumference of 14.75 inches. What weight yarn would I need to go down to to make the hat that small? I was thinking either a really thin 3 weight or a 2 weight. Any help or guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, I think the light weight/sportweight yarn. Or make a circle 4.5 to 4.75 in diameter. And the stitches should be multiple by 2 & 3 for all the stitches to work.Ex. 60, 72...

Hi Ms Kathy, I'm sorry I don't know exactly but It's less than 2 skeins. I bought 2 & I have about half skein leftover.
what is the measurement of the hat height before adding the brim? Also what is the measurement of the depth of the brim only?
I am not a beginner crocheter BUT I had to drop down to a #3 hook and still end up with a piece measuring 8inches. This is the third time I started this pattern because I love it so much. Actually thought my stitches were average leaning more to tight. What is the world is going on. If I kept going the pearls would be laying across my cheeks! About ready to give up. HELP

Hi, this one, I estimated for teenager/small adult size. If you like it smaller, I usually use smaller hook. And also when you use light weigth yarn will make this smaller.
