    Great!.
    Suppose we have a lumpsum amount already in hand rather than creating corpus, let us say 1Cr. Please explain the scenario if we want to start SWP after 2 or 3 years

      Sir
      We can handle these investments in many ways depending on your retirement income requirements and risk appetite. In your case, you wish to invest one crore rupees at a time to generate retirement income. Firstly, it is not advisable to invest this large amount in any of the best-performing equity mutual funds as a one-time investment. You need to split this amount and invest it over a period of time to average costs and take advantage of market fluctuations, especially if you specifically wish to invest in equities and consider factors such as tax, inflation, and relatively high returns compared to other traditional investments.
      In the case of investing in a safe debt fund, you will not receive tax advantages; your capital gains will be added to your income, and you will need to pay tax according to your tax slab. It is better to invest in the Post Office Senior Citizen Scheme and receive a guaranteed interest of 8.20%, at least for five years. After that, the interest rate may change based on prevailing rates at the time of deposit maturity, but you can roll over your investment for a lifetime as long as the government scheme exists. You can invest up to Rs. 30 lakh on a joint basis. Additionally, the annual interest of around Rs. 250,000 is tax-free if you don't have any other taxable income.
      For the remaining amount, you can invest in two or three well-performing equity funds in 3-5 installments based on market conditions (remember that we can't time the market). Wait for at least 3-5 years for that amount to grow, then opt for SWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan) not exceeding 3-5% of the corpus you created. The gains generated from the SWP will be taxed at a rate of 10% since your investment has already completed a one-year period.
      Alternatively you can opt for investing in Hybrid funds like balance advantage funds investing at least 65% in equities and balance in debt and other safe investments to get the benefits of the equity and debt investments and equity investment tax advantages. In this investment your risk is diversified up to a certain limit. Or you can investment in more conservative hybrid funds investing at least 35% in equities and balance in government securities and other debt instruments to take the tax advantages of long term capital gain with indexation benefits.
      If you follow this strategy, you can protect part of your wealth with reasonably good and inflation-beating returns from the Senior Citizens Scheme/conservative hybrid funds and also take advantage of equity market investments. All of this depends on your personal situation, retirement income requirements, tax slab, risk appetite, and other subsidiary income to support in case of any adverse situation. This requires a lot of analysis and understanding before making a decision. This is not investment advice; it is just for general information."

    Please mention the various type of funds one should have at the time of retirement and approximate percentage to be withdrawn from from various funds.

    • @prakash-nair
      @prakash-nair  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Normally, at least 2-3 years before retirement, you need to transfer a minimum of 70 to 80% of the total corpus to any safe and well-performing debt funds to protect your capital. You can withdraw a maximum of 4-5% of the total corpus annually to meet your day-to-day expenses. In case you are willing to take more risk, you can allocate more of the corpus to equity funds as well. The allocation to debt/equity will vary based on each person's individual financial situation and relevant factors.

    • @prakash-nair
      @prakash-nair  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This inflation is computed for 30 years @ 6% on Rs. 25,000 present monthly expenses. So you need around Rs. 143,000 after 30 years, if we assume 6% is the annual inflation rate.

      In bank deposit you will get only fixed interest. But in Mutual fund investment, there is a possibility to earn higher returns when compared to bank deposits

      This is sector specific fund, more riskier than normal diversified equity funds. This is the first fund exclusively investing in energy related companies. better invest via SIP routes to minimize the risk.
