I bought this book. My Post Stroke Physical Therapist recommended I learn to draw with my affected hand. I am halfway through the book and switch to my good hand. I can’t even doodle with a pencil. I am now drawing with a passion I can’t believe how successful this book has been for me. I can only say thank you. My wife is a retired teacher and teaches learning upon learning. She says your book is excellent and that’s coming from someone who has two Masters degree and three bachelors degrees. I can’t say enough good things about what you’ve accomplished here for guys like me. I’m 73.
Commander Mark and the Secret City got me through some really tough times in my childhood. I bought this book a few years ago and didn't even realize the author was Commander Mark. I was getting those vibes though while reading the book, and then I had to search my memory (and a little Google Fu doesn't hurt) to figure out why it was so familiar. Then I realized that Mark Kistler is Commander Mark!!!! I know you go by Mr. Mark now, but Commander Mark was my childhood hero. No matter what kind of crappy day I had Commander Mark's positivity really made that stuff go away, if at least for a few hours. All my electives in High School were art related and I have always had a strong connection with drawing and art. I was a game developer for awhile, but as a web developer I still use many of the techniques that Commander (Mr.) Mark taught me. Thank you Mr. Mark for giving me a lifelong love of art and drawing.
I have to admit, you are very good at teaching! I've been struggling a lot with shading in the last few weeks but since I watched your tutorial I have been getting better and better! Thank you for being so patient and explaining things in an easy-to-follow manner!

I have drawn a lot in my childhood and have numerous drawings that range in quality. I've made very quality drawings recently but it's been years since I've really just used a sketchbook to doodle. I'm going through these 30 days trying to get back to basics so I can have a good foundation for just doodling and making better art and finally fill a sketchbook. Hopefully, I will be good enough to properly transfer my vision to the page in as much detail as I need to communicate.

5 years later and this is still a great instruction video. I ordered my sketch book and supplies today, can't wait to see how far this takes me.
