You missed one point about the fate of cyborg noodle. Back in 2016 Gorillaz did an ARG where you can talk to murdoc and noodle over skype in order to bust murdoc out of prison. If you ask what happened to cyborg noodle, murdoc tells you he scrapped her for parts and used her head as pot for a bonzai tree. I guess they retconned that fact or they just forgot about it lol
This whole music video is a metaphor of letting go of one’s own past in order to move on... It’s like returning to a psychotic and life scarring Theme Park that terrified us as kids only to come back and burn everything down to the ground in order to remove the Trauma from our past so we can finally move on to a brighter future.
Murdoc's reaction to being left behind also reflects his fears/emotions from the Desole music video, where he's concerned that the band doesn't need him anymore

Cyborg has seems to be aging like noodle does and resembles noodle in “désole music video”. So she does age but it’s been stated by murdoc and the other band members that after the plastic beach incident when noodle first meant cyborg, cyborg got decapitated and used her head as a flower pot.. she’s then been seen in saturnz barz (7 years later in humanz) in the garbage moving, the lore is completely fine but Damon and Jamie has definitely never stated how she got her head back on or if murdoc fixed cyborg. I think the music video symbolizes some disdain Jamie might have had/still has towards Plastic Beach. Considering he and Damon buried their souls into it, only for it to flop. I'd say it's even worse than can be understood on the surface, as the sheer amount of effort that was put into Plastic Beach resulted in a colorful and diverse aesthetic. In my opinion, the best one Gorillaz was able to establish. You'd no doubt get this sense of accomplishment and pride in creating a master piece, like Plastic Beach. But as the years go by and nothing you create could stand up to your previous works, at least from a technical standpoint, you begin to feel chained to your past (Literally). Like you could never break free from it. Which is why Leee John never breaks out of his chains at the end, merely sinking back into the remains of Plastic Beach. That's how I see it, at least.

Since Plastic Beach was the Worst time the band had (as the story, like, Murdoc Kidnapping 2D, Daley dying) they must have felt really good seeing it finally got destroyed. But honestly i felt bad
You know, I always thought the ending of Murdoc being left behind and then 2D coming back for him, reminds me of when Jamie and Damon ended the band. Damon went off and did a Solo sent, and went back to blur, and Jamie didn't really get anything major or big afterwards. I think he had some work with Motorcity as a character designer, but still nothing really worked out for the two. But then they started working together again, it too a bit to get back into the grove of things, but I'm glad to see them finally hitting their strides.
In this video Jamie took the whole animation thing on a different level, I´d say. I mean, I like all of the new videos, but this one is something special. All this stuff looks...physical, like I could touch it. Damn...
I was legit worried when I saw the live visuals for The lost chord. I really thought they would just show Underwater stock footage, and then show the band arrive on the island, like the teaser trailer showed,. To then maybe set up Song machine Season 2. But I was so relieved to see that we got such a story filled episode. I love the themes of letting go, as we know Jamie never got to finish Plastic beach the way he wanted, since executives wanted to give Doncamatic the last video... Idk, was the skeleton of Daley a jab at that? bit harsh for Daley in that case, but I don't think there were any ill intentions. Can't wait to see what Season 2 brings, especially since Jamie has hinted at a more story filled season
I wish Gorillaz ended up going a comic book route for Lore. Like between music vid we get maybe 3 issues of a comic explaining and delving deeper in the story.
Yeah, id agree with hoodo and the comments, though we loved everything about plastic beach and g3 as a whole, it was a bad time for the band and for Damon and Jamie. Such an amazing and diverse story with good music, yet it drained them of their energy, and probably didn't do as well as they hoped. We'll miss you plastic beach, and you will forever hold a place in my, and many peoples hearts.

The whole season has kinda been about Murdoc in a lot of ways. Unlike his old actively asshole self, ever since Humanz he's been losing control over the band and most importantly 2D who is now independent and happy. The plot of phase 5 was basically a publicity stunt for him to get some attention cause he feels so redundant now. Season 1 of Song Machine has shown his feelings blatantly, trying to poison Damon probably to get control over Gorillaz, feeling lonely and guilty about what he's done, trying to fuck with 2D again like he used to only to get his ass kicked by Russel yet again, plus interviews indicating he wants to know how 2D can apparently use portals and other weird powers. And in The Lost Chord it all culminates as it seems all of Murdoc's sins finally catch up to him, he's met with Plastic Beach, the entire plot and tragedies of which were his fault, we see him slowly break down during the video upon seeing all of the stuff he's responsible for from a decade ago, and in the end all his friends abandon him. For someone like Murdoc who was all about to control, to slowly lose it all and even feel like he deserves it from what we can assume from Desole's video, it's really emotionally impactful how it all led to this moment in The Lost Chord. I was about to cry when that ending came, I legit thought that was how it ends. But 2D, with that goofy little face of his right at the end, uses the portal to come back and get Murdoc because he forgives him, and I think we can definitely assume Murdoc is going to be alright as well. This is honestly a character arc so long in the making and explored over so many phases that I can't help but love it. It's an utterly perfect note to end the season on and a beautiful conclusion for the characters. I can't wait for season 2 and what other craziness it might bring, cause this phase was 10/10. Sorry for rambling, but I just love Gorillaz so much

As much as 2D coming back for Murdoc is a touching moment... ... I can't help but see the other three on the other side of the portal pausing and going "Wait, SHIT, we forgot Murdoc!" Truthfully though, this music video was just like the ones of old, especially the Plastic Beach-era ones. More of the Gorillaz world and less of the real world. ^^; Also, I notice that the last bit to sink is the lighthouse... and if I'm right, wasn't that where Murdoc was doing the pre-Plastic Beach podcasts from? I swear it was. If so, first bit of the Beach we knew about is the last bit to sink. (I also swear hearing back in the day that the Beach was built on top of something powerful and keeping it contained, and if so... well, Lee the "Sea King" is probably what it was containing.)
I think that plastic beach being destroyed represents humanity stepping up and doing something against pollution with a true leader at hand saying goodbye to the demon days of sorts

why does Robot Noodle look like Mardoc when the submarines sinks
I thought the shot of them with the lighthouse was also a callback to Noodle's flying lighthouse in "Feel Good Inc." that got shot down in "El Manana".

If I recall correctly, it looks like the chains holding Leee John are the same as the ones holding the bottom of Plastic Beach from the “Doncamatic” music video at 2:56. If that’s true, then Leee John destroying Plastic Beach would be breaking his chains.
Makes you wonder why he didn't just shoot the chains with his laser-eyes all this time if he wanted to be 'freed' unless I'm missing some kind of metaphor.
I think they'll make a new Plastic Beach. But it won't be revealed in a while. Because Kong died and revived again. Anything can happen

Truthfully though, this music video was just like the ones of old, especially the Plastic Beach-era ones. More of the Gorillaz world and less of the real world. ^^;
Also, I notice that the last bit to sink is the lighthouse... and if I'm right, wasn't that where Murdoc was doing the pre-Plastic Beach podcasts from? I swear it was. If so, first bit of the Beach we knew about is the last bit to sink.
(I also swear hearing back in the day that the Beach was built on top of something powerful and keeping it contained, and if so... well, Lee the "Sea King" is probably what it was containing.)

I think that plastic beach being destroyed represents humanity stepping up and doing something against pollution with a true leader at hand saying goodbye to the demon days of sorts
