Hi Dolphine. I am watching from the UK. I am married to a lovely Kenyan lady. We celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary on the 2nd May. She is currently there on business. I havent been in country since 2018. I am so looking forward to seeing all the new things there. I love your channel. Have subscribed today.
The drainage system was an afterthought. After a lot of public cries they added pipes that channel the water down to the ground below the pillars. Just another flooding waiting to happen 🤦🏽♂️
So true concrete collects alot of water and can be channelled for use. May be they can put water tanks below the expres way to collect the run off water that leads into the tanks and can be reused to green the expressway.
Hallo Dolphine. Watching from Germany with my colleagues. Thank you so much for the regular updates, and always remember to keep safe on the road when recording.
Great video as per usual. Please focus on Westlands stage at Waumini, the area of the Mall to the Old Tree - there is going to be a big mess there, since the former stage to town and Mpaka Road are now blocked, and no alternative has been provided.
Watching from Arlington, TX I like it, you doing a good job, but be careful though, I see crazy driving there. Plants a're drying up cause they're not watered.
It is misleading to call what you are driving on" lower part of the expressway ". Depending on where you are you are driving on, MombasaRd, Uhuru Highway or Waiyaki way.
concrete collects alot of water and can be channelled for reuse. May be they can put water tanks below the express way to collect the run off water coming from the top express way and then channeled into tanks at the bottom, and the same water can be reused to green the expressway.
Why not plant creeper plant thier so many type of creeper plant that would be the best option hence the ground are so close they can do well no need to water them...I am D R.C CONGO NICE ONE KEEP those update coming..

The work is "commendable" Major issue is drained on our free road sections.... Looking at how the pillars are splashed with maddy water just gives you a picture of the flooding situation
Dollphine can you please look for a plant specialist and ask them what types of plants would they have grown and why are the ones on the expressway withering. Ask them what would they have planted and why. keeping in mind watering.
Watching from Kitengela 😉 I remember meeting you on train ride to Suswa on February, loved your job. I think the pillars would be more economical if some graffiti would be done on them rather than using the plants as they may dry up easily because of lack basic nutrients
I'm watching from Qatar, I think hizo pillars zinafaa kua na plastic flowers instead. Another thing, those roads with brownish colour should be re-carpeted. Also Kenya needs more road signs and direction boards.
I agree. Or maybe they could have juat painted the pillars with art and murals. It won't be feasible to maintain the planted flowers in the long run. Some are already withering before even the road is opened.
I'm curious about the drainage system along the sides of roads. A lot of videos I've seen have shown extremely deep drainage ditches that are completely uncovered. Quite often I've seen them running right alongside where pedestrians walk. Is this safe/normal? (Coming from someone who knows nothing about drainage systems)
Back in the days any money given to Any politician to repair anything will dissappear before any work was done. Sometimes, they will hire few chocoras to smash few stones....This is at least some progress
You’re doing a great job which we appreciate for those of us abroad. Please don’t go too near fast moving vehicles, as you know not all drivers or cars are road worthy… just thinking of your safety. Another issue is that I don’t think the lower part of the expressway was thought through. It seems like ideas are coming as the days pass by, unless it’s a way to subconsciously force more drivers to the expressway?…the work should have been done simultaneously especially for those hazard prone areas…just saying 🎤
Dolphine254, your video was very good and I see that the overpass drain pipes are not finished so the water is just dropping on the road below. I hope that they will be finished or is it that the Chinese are afraid that the pipes will be stolen? I live in North Wales and you made me laugh when you were so excited about the lower road being tarmaced, there is at the moment just being a road here re-done and the base tarmac is over 300mm thick and that's before the top surface gets put down. It's no wonder Kenyan roads are full of potholes. When will these contractors stop stealing your money. Thank you Nthenya and Dave Smith.
Dolphine, you are welcomed to come take an ariel shot from the rooftop of my apartment. We have an unobstructed view of the entire stretch from the Capital Ctr interchange to the Haile Selassie one.
I was hoping they remove the roundabouts and replace with traffic light controlled junction boxes. Alternatively redesign the roundabouts to allow more traffic throughput than is the case now. They are the cause of wasteful jams.

Great work! The lower road needs serious rehabilitation. I hope they do a good job on it fast enough. They need to sort out the muddy areas too asap.

Watching from London, UK. Thanks for your good work.
you have done a really remarkable content . we have enjoyed so much
I wish they could find a creative way of harvesting the water that was spilling from the expressway. It could help in watering the greenery below.

pedestrians on freeways is a recipe for disaster. They should have some laws to deter this issue
