Great down to the point. Thanks work 100% for me. I drill a 6mm fender washer to 8mm and then bevelled it with a 10mm, cut one edge of the washer with Dremel. Then widened the steel bush going through the plastic section at 3 and 9 o'clock, filed down the plastic bush about 1mm where the steel bush goes through the plastic, this gave the home "secure clip" some grip area. Once installed, just pinched the washer to secure it in place.

Very helpful video. Many thanks for posting. This annoying little problem happened to my bus a few years back but the VW garage fixed it free of charge at that time probably due to fact it was a recall fault which they don't advertise. I suppose the garage might have repaired it again but chance is my bus would have been off road for a whole day and they would probably just slot the pin back through holes. Evidently there should be a very thin grip washer on the end of the pin as there is a groove for a retainer. However, I managed to retain the pin by cutting a piece of thin copper sheet with a slot equal to the groove diameter and sliding it through the groove.

The pin appesrs to have a groove for a circlip.

Thanks very much. I was actually able to relocate the little lug and open it. I applied hotmelt glue around it to (hopefully) stop it happening again.

Sorry am I being dumb… how do you remove the seat pad… says remove for bolts but they aren’t accessible…. 2 at the front are but not the 2 at the back…. Do you need to take the 3 plastic covers of first…. Not clear in the video after removing the actual seat from the van…

    Thanks
In my T6.0, I had to sit in seat then force myself backwards while lifting the handle up (which previously wouldn't move) this was my quick fix, clearly a different issue to yours but thought I should add here as a quick first try
I think it's something to do with the last time I had seat out and it didn't engage properly (even though green tabs were showing)

And the star bolts on the plastic covers aren’t accessible either..?

Thanks for this. Really useful. In my case the problem was that the release clip for the forward tilt was jammed and could not be raised using the release handle on the side of the chair. The kids had been pushing on the chair as they tried to raise the handle. I released it after disassembling as you show. In your case a circlip might work well to retain the pin: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circlip

Actually my problem turned out to be a stretched cable. It's just like a bike brake cable, and these always stretch, which is why they have an adjuster to take out the slack. No such thing on this, however, and the dealer tried to sell me an expensive replacement kit, and offered to install it for yet more money and a job that involved tearing the seat apart. So I shortened the cable myself using a couple of washers on the end with a bit of wire to hold them on.

I made a slim clip from a washer to hold it in place.

    • @tobybetenson6791

Isn't it the same as the one for the mounts (though it might be a different size...)? A spline bit? I'm asking because I can't remember! But I don't remember using anything other than those.

@@tobybetenson6791 I was able to fix the tilt function. Thank you for the great video. I now have a problem when assembling the seat back. I can't get the metal clamp piece (that secures the seat to the foor) to re-attach to the plastic pulley inside the seat. At the beginning of your video you mention removing four screws, this is the part im trying to do again. Screw it back on with the inside bit attached. Any tips?

A simple hole through the barrel and a cotter pin to hold in place would have been a good idea from the engineer designing it.
