Interesting to see the difference in specification between UK and Malaysia - the Malaysian variant is more like a Typ 6R (pre facelift) than the 6C that was already common in UK by 2015 (quite often with 1,2 TSI engine CJZC or CJZD and DQ200 DSG 'box - but I understand these gave a lot of trouble in hotter countries due to VW making a poor choice of oil in the mechatronics and gearbox! The infotainment is more basic than UK variants, but there is better airco in cars for the Asian markets...
I believe there were 2 engine variants sold side by side at one time. Each distributor determines its own car specs according to their needs and price point
