    1-22-2023 in two days I am having full mouth extractions. I was going to get snap in dentures but with the surgery it requires, cost and the risk of infection doubled I opted out. I am in my 60's have a pacemaker and defibrillator: heart disease. Anyhoo, all the research I have done on dentures and denture wearers was absolutely enlightening! Really impressed by the 98% that is all positive feedback like the good shit on this video. LOL, I LIKE THIS LADY!!! ThankYou again for putting me at ease and actually looking forward to D- Day. If anyone reads this, say a prayer as I am a risky patient.

    I noticed that pain is gone, myself. Also the constant anxiety of what to do about my teeth, and "oh great, another tooth is broken." I also had my teeth cutting my tongue, so it's nice to have that gone now.

    Thank you for ALL your videos! I just had my full mouth extractions done 2 days ago...feeling a bit rough, but so much happier now that they are out. I know you went through this 4 1/2 years ago so I doubt you even check this anymore...but please know your vids helped me gain the courage I needed to sit in that chair 2 days ago. I was terrified but the extraction experience (as scared as I was) went very smooth. I was in and out of the chair in under an hour with my new dentures in place!! I am healing, stoned on pain killers and Motrin....feeling kinda rough, but so glad I did this! Thank you again for all the indepth information you provided....and the heart thing...wow...I have been having some heart issues lately and I wonder if that will go away now too? Actually, come to think of it...I havent had a single chest pain in the last 48 hours...so maybe something to that too! Rock on girl!!

    Thank you so much for all of this!!! I'll be getting 31 teeth extracted in 2 weeks. I've been obsessed with watching videos from first timers too. I'm 41, with extreme peridontal disease.My gums flare up weekly for atleast a year now, and they have become more and more frequent over the past 10 years! Because of your videos and other, I'm less fearful and ready to get my dentures... begin the new journey. I will also document my experience bc having you all here is priceless. I must help the next person facing this situation.. I really can't thank you enough!!! Your teeth are beautiful btw!!! I'm ready to go now!!! The suspense is racking my nerves.

    Hi there. I love your videos. I am three weeks since my EDay and while I had a different experience with my dentures fitting, the experience as a whole is basically the same. The videos let me know I'm not alone in the not - so - good days. I had not even noticed that the heart flutters had stopped until someone mentioned it. Another surprise is that the heat doesn't seem to bother me as bad. I live in southern Alabama and before extractions I could not tolerate heat at all. I would get a migraine at the first drop of sweat and not to mention feeling so nauseated I couldn't function. But so far getting out in the heat hasn't been unbearable like before. Also, I used to have terrible sinus trouble complete with headaches and swelling that got so bad I couldn't open My mouth. Now, no signs of sinus trouble! And I have more energy than I used to. Other than not being able to wear My uppers I am so happy I have done this. I only wish I wouldn't have waited so long. I feel like I wasted all those years being miserable and basically a prisoner of My own health. Thanks again for the upbeat and honest videos. They give me hope for the future!!!

I will have my first consultation with a dentist in 2 days and if they can pull these bad babies out of my mouth the same day and put in some immediates, I will be the happiest little lady on earth! Thanks for sharing the wonderful changes you've experienced and thanks for sharing that beautiful smile too!

    At long last my E Day is set for Dec. 2nd for my remaining 8 teeth on top. I've got a 20 yr old partial that thank God held up. My bottom will be done by my BD the 1st week of march. What I'm looking forward to is filling out of my face for it is so narrow and sunk in now, better digestion so i no longer have stomach issues, being happy to finally have my smile back and better than its ever been and finally not having to worry about what is going to go wrong with my teeth next. Watching your videos have given me so much hope and has helped with the anxiety of it all. My dentist has given me a few 10 mgs valium to take the night before and just before i go to appointment so I'm sure I'll be quite chilled by the time i get there. TY for ALL your kind help!! Xo

    You are the first person to give me hope for a very long time. Hearing your story and seeing your beautiful smile just reminded me there is light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait for the day when I'm posted that with my dentures and can smile again, eat again, sleep again, be seen in public again and not cover my mouth when I laugh. But I wish getting my dentures meant I'd get your lovely dimples!! Maybe expecting too much? :) So a big thank you from Sydney, Australia, Beach Chick! xx

  • @enig99
    @enig99 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    What changed for me:
    1. I can eat meat again. Before, so much would get stuck in between my teeth, and it would hurt like crazy.
    2. I can eat/drink cold things.
    3. I have more energy, but it's still not what I would call "normal". (getting that looked at BTW)
    4. My face is more filled-out. I was missing so many back teeth that my cheeks appeared a little hollow before.
    5. My breath is WAY WAY better.
    6. My mouth actually feels clean after brushing (the gums/tongue). It never did with the teeth.
    7. I have only gotten one canker sore since EDay. I used to get them several times a month. And they HURT!!
    8. Little to no sinus congestion or sinus headaches.
    Now, there are a couple of changes that I wouldn't consider "good", but given the vast improvement in my overall well being, I will take them.
    1. I had a LOT of trouble getting used to talking with dentures. I still feel awkward, but it's mostly back to normal.
    2. I subconsciously clench and grind my teeth during the day. I did this before dentures, and have continued the habit. It will mean more wear and tear on my dentures, possible TMJ problems, and possibly faster bone loss if I can't stop it. I'm working on that one too.
    3. Eating cake and bread isn't as enjoyable... (maybe that belongs in the GOOD list!)
    4. As I mentioned below, I have NOT stopped chewing my nails... I was back to chewing them about 2-3 months in.
    5. Sitting around with teeth out, and having the doorbell or phone ring. I hate that.
    6. When getting the dentures repaired, I have to go without for a few hours, in public... I know I'm luckier than some in that respect. Some people would have to wait overnight or even several days.

      Hey Amy! I totally forgot about the meat between the teeth, breath and cleanliness part.. and my tongue is no longer white. YAY! As far as the drawbacks, I've heard you say you can't speak right, and only you know that for sure, but I always thought you were hearing things because you sounded great to me! There's actually a thread about clenching on DANS right now, turns out a whole lot of us do that, many several months and even years past getting dentures. *sigh* I was hoping that was a short term habit. And every single time I take my teeth out, my phone rings. LOL

      Hay Amy, can I ask just how well they help fill out ur face? I have the same issue, I had most by back teeth pulled a few years ago and am getting the rest pulled in 2 weeks. I am a slim guy and have that issue of a hollow face, am hoping and praying my new dentures will fill out my face too. Love your list, giving me so much hope!!

    I'm having all 28 teeth extracted in about 2 weeks.. Terrified!! But I'm very much looking forward to the positives in doing this!! I'm 46 and I've been having pain and problems for 12 years or so .. I was diagnosed with Lupus and Anemia at that time.. Also Thyroid problems..
    My heart got so bad , racing, palpitations , that they put me on beta blockers .. They don't know about my teeth:;-( I got the flu a year ago and was hospitalized.. I wondered how much my teeth might have contributed to that? Physically getting sick, pain, heart palpitations /racing , bad skin,no energy.. It feels like my body is working so hard with my mouth that it's not being able to keep up with everything else! You're so right and I can't wait till I can feel better!! Scared though! Thank you:-)

    Thank you so much for your videos, hearing you talk about what you went through prior is basically the same thing I go through as well. Your Tachycardia really hit close to home, I was 99% sure that it was most likely my teeth, which have been bad since my adult teeth came in, I'm 36 now. My "E Day" is tomorrow, and I'm hoping that it will go smoothly, as it sits I will be getting a full upper and a partial on the bottom.

    I have dentures a year now, and I don't keep them in all the time. I'm going for an alignment as my gums shrunk, i think that is why my dentures slide around. I'm still not used to my dentures and eat most of my meals without my dentures in. Hopefully, my dentist gets my dentures fitting better and don't have to use adhesive any longer just to go out with a decent smile, let alone eat foods like a salad.

    Great video! It is completely amazing how much changes after getting bad teeth extracted! I was only 27 when I got my teeth extracted and didn't have a ton of health problems that I noticed that went away afterwards other than of course like you mentioned not being in pain anymore, no more abscesses and that type of thing. It is fantastic how much more we are able to eat after getting dentures! The thing I was really excited about is my favorite candy which are peanut M&Ms which I hadn't been able to eat in a few years... I love to be able to enjoy those every once in awhile now! :)

    My favorite of all of the changes (though probably not exactly a good one) has been my ability to eat ice cream and other cold foods without any pain. My teeth were so sensitive to EVERYTHING! I really enjoy not having that extreme sensitivity anymore. I cracked up when you mentioned nail biting, I was a nail biter before, not really bad, but I would chew off bits of my nails if they broke or snagged on something, and every once in awhile I still try to bite on my nails and just feel silly when the realization sets in. Clippers and emery boards have become a valued commodity in my house =)

    garrettbuck512 I am two months out from having 23 teeth extracted. I am relieved to be free from abses and pain. I have temporaries now. The upper no problem. I believe the lower was made to try and get me to do implants at least in the lowers. In the lower center not enough acrylic to put paste in the center without in oozing out. So moisture gets under easy and they lift. I go back for check up and relive the 15th so will call them on that attempt then. Would love to send a picture of what I reference to get an idea of what needs done.

He has had a nasty cough for years, indigestion, insomnia, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, and a general ill feeling, including a bad attitude (sometimes). We appreciate your candid feedback. He's less nervous and is looking forward to regaining his health and smile. Question: he has to take a five hour airplane flight two weeks after he gets his temporaries. Is this a no-no? Your smile is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your experience!

    I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO SMILE AND LAUGH! I currently have (obviously) bad teeth, broken teeth and some down to the gum. They actually "missed" a molar in my plan because it was broken off and had been for so long, down to the gumline and I had to point it out. Bone has actually begun to grow over it I guess. That aught to be fun to get out! I am getting knocked out via IV sedation, because an oral surgeon is doing my extractions, so I won't care (at least that's what I keep telling myself).
    I AM ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO NOT HAVING TO DISCUSS MY DAMN BAD TEETH!! I am over it! I am sick of it! I am literally sick of it. I am pretty convinced that my teeth have kick-started my Lupus journey and hip replacements as well as my spine issues but no more!! I also get palpitations and was told it was due to a heart defect called Epstein's Anomaly. It'll be interesting to see if they stop after my teeth are pulled.
    So far, that is all I can wrap my head around currently. I am keeping my 6 bottom teeth. I am told it is easier on your bottom dentures. We shall see. I hope it is worth it because I have a ton of work to do on them and about $1500 worth of dollars to throw at those 6 teeth!

    • @lofairy5480
      @lofairy5480 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How did it go? Did you keep the 6 teeth? The dentist told my son he should keep his bottom teeth to brace the dentures but I got the feeling they just wanted to be able to still make money off those teeth as they will surely eventually rot like his others. If you did keep them, have you had any problems from them?

    You made me laugh so many times. Thank you! I have multiple chronic illnesses including Lupus and high doses of Prednisone plus a dozen additional medications, some of which prevent my body from absorbing nutrients have destroyed my teeth. Also, I am pretty sure my bad teeth are poisoning me. I have a dental appointment next week and I will probably end up making payments for the rest of my life for the extractions and a set of dentures but at least I won't be in pain any longer from broken teeth, exposed nerves and abscesses.

      @bleurghy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Carla, I'm so sorry to bother you as I know this was posted 2 years ago but would you mind if I ask how you went with everything, please? Honestly, when I read the first 3 sentences of your comment I thought, cripes, I must have accidentally written that myself when I was an incoherent mess (which I often am when in heaps of pain. I've got lupus and heaps of other chronic illnesses, destroyed teeth due to prednisone and other meds, exposed nerves (I cried in the bath for 20 minutes tonight because of the blasted exposed nerves!) pain, pain and more agonising pain. This is my worst pain night yet, which is why I was stalking the lovely Beach Chick to give myself hope and then I saw your comment and was like, "I must stalk her with a comment forthwith!" Did you end up having it done and were you happy? There is no way I could afford it for a long time here in Sydney, Australia, and am devastated that I will be in this much pain for months, or possibly a year or more. But Beach Chick showed me there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I certainly hope you found yours and are doing brilliantly. Take care, lovely.

    Omg you are so right about your heart with bad teeth & infection, I just went through getting allmy teeth out FINALLY (thank you Lord) & got my beautiful dentures (yay me) but I swear I was terrified those bad teeth were goin to kill me before I could get them out because of how bad it messed with my heart. I'm showing your video to my husband because he thought I was crazy so thanks for letting me know it wasnt just me. I wonder if it does permenent damage?

      @Coldgroove-S Going great. Compared to all the pain I was going through beforehand, that's all gone. I have to go to affordable dentures one of these days to get some new ones made cuz I'm starting to wear through my first one's. This will be my first time getting new ones since the operation but this time no surgery so it should be real simple. I wish I got dentures sooner. They're not as bad as everybody says they are.

    I am denture bound soon and scared , been looking at a lot of videos, truly enjoyed yours and found it very helpful , thank you for taking the time to share your experience , one thing , I smoked for 40 years , started vaping 3 years ago , 3 chemicals instead of the 7000 in a cigarette, please consider stopping , you will feel even better , if not it will kill you and you seem much to nice to let that take you out , again thank you

    On Monday had four teeth pulled, on Wednesday got another four pulled. Yesterday I got the remaining 20 plus teeth pulled. I'm so freaking sore and swollen. I just keep thinking of a time soon where I'll be able to smile without embarrassment. Dentist took an imprint and hopefully I'll have my teeth in about a week!

    Did you take your immediate dentures out the first time since they were placed, or does the dentist do that? Is it painful? I fear that the dentures will be stuck to my gums from the blood drying up and sticking to them. Like when they come out does some of your gums come out with them and start bleeding all over???

    I'm 47. When I was a kid I had to visit the dentist every 6 months, and ALWAYS got seals every time. Then it became fillings every time. When my wife & I moved to GA in 1997, I had all my teeth minus my 4 Wisdom Teeth. Starting in 2005, I kept getting non-repairable tooth damage and had to have them extracted, never more than 4 at a time, starting with 6 molars. In December 2014 I had 12 teeth left and finally decided to get dentures because my remaining teeth were visibly decaying. The original plan was to have them extracted at the same time he implanted the 8 posts, but my teeth decided they would decay even more quickly, so within 3 months they were all gone. When he pulled my 2 remaining molars, the roots had rotted away to practically nothing in 9 years, so they had been spewing their poison into my body. On March 19 I had my 8 posts implanted for snap-in dentures because I don't have enough ridge for regular dentures; I can't even GLUE them in because there's not enough surface. In 5 weeks I should finally have actual snap-in dentures. There were many tooth-related things mentioned in your video and in the comments below that I had completely forgotten about. But the tooth pain and the constant loss of bits of teeth has always been in the forefront. And now that you mention it in your video, my fingernails have indeed been getting stronger. These snap-in dentures are absolutely the only way I can go, so I'm doing it.

    I could not have imagined getting my dentures right after getting my 14 teeth extracted, that would have hurt so bad.. it's sad that people can't even go long enough to get their gums healed before getting dentures because there so worried about vanity,and or looks. I waited about a year an a half ,an they still hurt a little at first getting used to them . Besides your gums change alot after they heal from extractions due to swelling, etc. .My suggestion is to JUST WAIT TILL YOUR MOUTH IS HEALED! Who cares what people think 😊 half the time people couldn't even tell that I didn't have any teeth to tell you the truth😅👍

    Well E days was 3 days ago...had all uppers out and 4 lowers only have 8 teeth in the front that need cleaned and a filling put in. Stitches all over the place and I could not get my immediate upper in after surgery because I was put in the hospital and put to sleep to have it all done. I also was given IV steroids to stop the swelling and spent past 3 days sitting in the recliner with ice packs 20 min on 20 min off now is justice water to drink and warm wash clothes to help with stiffness and being sore. I was not given any pain meds at all. Told me don't take Ibuprofen because could cause BP or heart complications. Told me to take OTC Tylenol for pain...but other than soreness not a lot of pain yet. How long does it take to get the stitches out of your mouth? I go back on Dec 5 to see the surgeon. I guess if they don't dissolve he will take them out then...I'm a little worried about the immediate though because I went running around the house the day before E day putting them in over my bad teeth and my mouth itched. I got the economy immediate and Affordable Dentures. So I may wait until after I see the surgeon on Dec 5 and soak those dentures in Efferdent rinse well and pray I'm not allergic to them. I'm service connected but not 100% only 60% but while in vocational rehabilitation I'm 100% for dental care so I went to the VA to get the work done which took them a year to get around to and with heart problems and high BP it was not fun waiting to get them pulled out.

    What kind do you have? My mom has regular full plate top dentures and the regular bottoms one. She dont really dont like the plate. Food gets stuck on it, cant taste food and she gags. She has already been to her dentist 5 times to have them fitted. They are out now due to pain from the dentures scraping the inside of mouth. She hasnt been able to wear them more then 24hrs. She said also seem to have teeth shards poking out here and there. It has been two months since Eday, and just got her dentures 2 weeks ago. How much pain is normal? She would loved to be able to eat food with some texture instead of only soft foods. She said it would amazing to be able to eat nuts,and have no pain where they just seem natural. Does this happen? Anyone get horseshoe top dentures from their dentist without implants? Do they stay in? Anyone know if Medicaid would replace her new ones and let her have ultra thin, horseshoe top dentures? Any info be great, thanks!!

    Hey I waited months for a upper partial with 4 of my front teeth gone and being 22 and with 2 little baby girls,I had alot to face when it came to public events but I just got mine 5 days ago on Thursday but I can smile an not feel ashamed of it! I can laugh again! I know your comment is old but I have issues with words like "Churches" "Mattox" and similar words but like I said it's day 5 for me lol but do you think it'll go away? Seems like everything else is getting smoother! I practiced alot of reading out loud too and singing. My dentist said they were snug and nice so I feel great about these!

    been suffering for over a decade and im close to having all my teeth extracted. pain and stigmatism is always on my mind. im debating whether i should get post installed to have snap ins or permanent ones. Very Expensive route. Even after the put the post in the have to wait 6 months for the gums to heal for proper fit of permanent ones. Any thoughts?

    Hi!!! My name is Clara....I'm 27 and I am 4 days away from getting my full extractions and dentures!!! It's amazing....but at the same time it's scary.....I haven't been able to eat solid foods for about two years now...and I have two daughters that I fear suffer because I'm not able to play with them the way I feel like I should be....I just wanted to know...were you scared??? How did you deal with it...and did your energy levels also increase after your dentures??? Because I'm terrified....mostly that I won't wake up....and I'm worried about being able to get healthy enough again to keep up with my little ones....thanx a bunch!!! Your smile is beautiful btw!!!
