Reasons for choosing a concierge tour and plan selection, the weather, clothing information and many other issues that we had to deal with.
I made a video about it. I hope you will watch it to the end.
We chose the Premium Plan of the three Gunkanjima Concierge landing tours for 9,000 yen. It was a Saturday, so it was ¥1,000 more expensive than a weekday. It was hard to decided which of these three plans to choose.
Standard (unreserved seats on the first floor): ¥5,000 on weekdays
Premium (2nd-floor middle seat): 8,000 yen on weekdays
Super Premium (2nd-floor window seats): ¥10,000 on weekdays.
*Please check the above website for the latest information as these are the prices on board on Saturday 2 March 2024.
The standard plan was not in our mind because We wanted to see the photos and the view, but We really struggled to decide between the other two plans. The difference in price between premium and super-premium seats is ¥ 2,000. Initially, the Super Premium plan was considered. We were looking into it at the time - right? Left? Which window side should be designated? If you are unable to land and turn around Gunkanjima, you will eventually see it from either the right or left window as it circles around the island. This time, the waves were high and we were watching what was going on, but it was right around. Photo time started in the right window first. After the deck (second floor), the seats are unreserved. Early birds win. Basically, once on deck, you are sitting down. This time the waves were particularly high and it is dangerous not to sit down. Those who want to take photos first may want to sit on the right side.
As a result, we decided to go with the premium plan as we expected that we would not be able to sail in bad weather and that we would be mostly on deck (second floor free seating) when taking photos and could sit in the middle of the ship.
As an aside, drinks and snacks are included.
Almost all the ground floor and the second floor were fully booked, even when we booked a month in advance, it was still pretty well booked, so we recommend booking early. Check the website for cancellation fees as well, as there is no charge if you cancel a few days in advance.
The next video will deliver a visit to Hasami, a town famous for its ceramics, so please watch it.
