Had this on tape as a kid, I think it helped shape the idea that it doesn't matter who you are-- even if you're a ghost-- it's the merit of your character that matters. These kids just saw Casper as a friend to play with. Such an old cartoon but a very timeless message.
I honestly feel bad for Casper... he's the only ghost who only wants to make friends but fortunately, that landlord who looked at him was frightened and ran off. He finally got the friends he gets and the love he deserved!
The animation in this is soo clever! Even when I was young I enjoyed all the weird things the ghosts did, turning into sheets and being airplanes. The rooster turned into a backfiring engine, and literally split the scene! And the Mortgage Man literally burnt the bridge. Brilliant! However, Casper getting run over by a train was a bit . . . much? As a ghost he should have known it wouldn't work, but the fact that he tried it was a bit of a mind breaker. Wow.
@@xaviermoncada-martin8156it’s the first appearance of Casper. That’s what this person means. Noveltoons was created as a series of one shots and if a specific character was popular enough, they’d be spun off into their own series. Baby Huey and Little Audrey were more of a sub series as I guess they didn’t make enough shorts to warrant having a headlining series.
Do you have NBC recordings of Casper the Friendly Ghost when it was rerun as part of Chip and Pepper's Cartoon Madness!! program block in 1991 to 1992?
Had this on VHS as a kid. I put this in so many times thinking this was the 1995 live action version. And then upon realising I watched it anyway 😂
Omg! I watched this all the time when I was little at my grandparents, they had it on vhs 😍

Classic❤🎉 👻
Champion!
This scared me as a kid.
I remember watching this in kindergarten!
So…is this the pilot?
I guess you can call it that. I had to look it up on Wikipedia, it's Noveltoons episode 11 from Paramount.
Well yes
@@reyarqueza7627 How can it be the pilot if it’s episode 11?

@@AnimationNation2004 Oh, okay. Thanks!
This cartoon turned 79 today. The second world war was over before this aired. I wonder if anyone that created this knew about the wars?
Casper the first
