    The Netherlands has high taxes but you see all this money going back to the people in the form of good roads, well maintained bike paths, parks. Not to forget the social security and the fact that you don't see any homeless person or a stray animal. The Dutch society is more of an egalitarian one so you definitely don't make big bucks or live in a gated neighborhood. Everyone has a decent life.

    • @MakingitinHolland
      @MakingitinHolland  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Definitely it's a more social-leftist approach, which might be good for some and not so ideal for others. 😀

    • @evangeliamintzai6302

      @@MakingitinHolland Sure it's preference. But I'm happy we are not like in the USA, where people are left to their fate. Luckily this pandemic has taught them a lesson and they finally start helping the society. This will probably increase their taxes in the future.

    as a highly-skilled migrant, l get 600 euros higher after-tax salary from colleagues who are several steps higher in the company. this difference is massive the higher the salary is. professors in the Netherlands get around 5000-9000 euros brutto but half of that is stripped due to taxes. an ex-pat full professor can get literally 1-3 k higher after-tax salary than his colleague

      highly skilled migrant depends if hired from outside or within NL. Like I shit myself in my pants for doing a masters degree here in Netherlands paying 30k tution fees and not having any benefits and paying hefty dutch taxes. The 30% ruling is just a disgrace how easily from outside people can come to Netherlands and have that ruling with more money and also have a licence exchanged when they dont even know how to start a car and drive.

    My father is a Financial controller in the Netherlands, and we havent had much issues with money to be honest. My dad loves us very much, but i think that comes at the cost of us too. He does everything for us, meaning we dont get any experience in anything. I feel like a very irresponsible person because i dont know how to handle myself. I believe i'm pretty smart but nowehere near as smart as i want to be. I lack life experience, i'm 19 years old and i still dont know shit on how to improve my situation. Also the netherlands is facing a giant house crisis with homes becoming more and more expensive each year.
    When i look at technology i always tell myself i was born in the right time, but the more the world keeps connecting the more i start to disagree.

    I will never understand why lawyers are that much payed. Absolutely anyone can be a lawyer...you dont need to be good at math, physics, chemistry(like engineers)you dont need to be talented for languages, you dont have to be talented like architects for drawing/3d perception, you dont have to work outside like civil engineer or in mine like mining engineer. They just have to study and learn simple sentences that are not hard to understand and remember like sentences in medical/biology books. Still they are paid more than software engineers who are using all the math of the world for coding.

    • @vinnie4v277
      @vinnie4v277 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I think you underestimate being a lawyer. There are 1000s of laws. Ofcourse learning is easy, if ur a learner.
      But i think a lawyer is a jack of all trades. You have to communicate very well, you have to know to make a sale (sell the story of the person u defending or company) think logically, While being creative. I imagine lawyers sometimes spend hours looking for loopholes, or connecting laws together to get to a loophole, i think its a puzzle aswell Etc etc

      Hi!! The 30% mean that the income tax is going to apply to the 70% of your gross salary for 3 years, and for that you must be a foreigner that have been living at, at least, 150km from the border of NL.
      You need to remind your employeer to apply for that, it's only available for expats.
      On the other side, tech gross salaries goes between 65k and 95k, of course there are exceptions
      Hope it was of help!!

They also have a working contract system that differs betwen "unlimited" and "temporary". Most foreigners have temporary... which means you leave the company after a max. of 2 years, 7 , 8 or 9 months contracts or 1 year contracts are VERY common. If you take a random office of 100 people with 50 Dutch and 50 foreigners you know that 40 Dutch have the "unlimited" contract and 10 foreigners have the "unlimited" contract. The other 50 are super competitive in trying to get an unlimited contract. This is corporate live over there ;)

      Dear Gabs, There are tax benefits for companies that hire people with disabilities. How ever you will always have to compete with other interested employees without handicaps... So you need to have exceptional or rare skills! Don't forget that there are a lot of "handicapped" people who are native to The Netherlands that ALSO want to be employed! It sounds hard but that is the actual situation. But if you are the best candidate professionally there is no company that would not hire you just for being hearing impaired (or for having any other handicap for that matter). But it will be difficult if you can not communicate with your colleagues.. so that's something (except if the job requires concentration or stand-alone ..)

    Unfortunately, taxes are too high in NL compared to other countries which still offer good salaries e.g. Ireland or Luxembourg. Moreover, in NL, health insurance is mandatory and paid by the employee, representing an additional cost. Unless your salary is really good you have to cope with a high amount of tax which erodes your income

      imagine beeing from Romania....having an avarage Salary of around 600 Euros (very few people are that lucky) ... but the avarage food cost of one single "basket" is almoust the same as the one in Netherlands :D
      In Romania the taxes are so high that if you lets say make 100 EUR/moth the state will take from you about 45-47 EUR :)) imagine that...and you don't get anything back from thous taxes :D no good roads, no good medical system or any other system at all.
      IF Netherlands was a game....it would be on "baby" mode compared to Romania that would be on "good like" mode :D

    how much does i have to pay taxes as Profesional wedding photographer>

    • @MakingitinHolland
      @MakingitinHolland  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Vilnis, this would entirely depend on how much you earn per year. The higher the income, higher the taxes. You'd also have to file VAT taxes quarterly which are 21% for photographers. So that would be the amount you charge on-top of your fees. For example, if you charge 50 euros/hour with the VAT you'd charge 60.5 euros/hour. At the end of the financial year, you also get to pay taxes on any remaining profit your company has made.

      There are an abundance in seasonal jobs : picking strawberries, plant- and flower maintenance etc. But you will make the lowest hourly salary possible and the work is back-breaking. Living conditions are frequently in the news here. You will be docked in a small container building and will have to sleep together with 10 other people in 1 space. When you are not working you will be bored and tired. And the speed of work is extreme. If you can not keep up you're fired. Still there are waves of workers every spring till autumn. It is a hard life outside in rain , wind and sun.
