The full modern bike build is still a little while away! It's gonna be quite time consuming as I think there isn't much point making videos that just breeze over everything without walking the viewer through the detail. Thanks again... these sort of comments help with my motivation.

@@beanz6745 Apologies for the delay in coming back... lost a whole day trying to get a new Hope brake working only to find it was leaking. Not sure my current style is therapeutic, but thinking a more relaxed Ashley will come with more experience of doing the whole productions myself. Need to do a modern bike and though it won't be imminent, the next time I have one in to build and isn't a rush I'll get it done. Thanks for your kind words.

... excellent video, thanks :) had a bunch of problems getting 16" tyres onto brompton wheels. found it a lot easier with some lubrication, a little fairy liquid on the bead. any thoughts on this approach?
Thanks heaps and it is my pleasure. Brompton wheels can often be a pain in the backside, especially the ones with thick puncture resistant belts. There are 2 reasons I wouldn't use washing up liquid to get the tyre on or seat it. First is the washing up liquid will deteriorate the rubber over time. Secondly and what I would consider more important, is riding in wet conditions may reactivate the washing up liquid and bleed onto the rims and/or tyre tread. I think you run the risk of making the bike unsafe. I'd suggest using tyre mounting rim paste like the stuff used in the motor industry. A quick search on the internet and £6 later you'll have enough for a good few tyres...
Back in the day, yes! These days I think the materials are better matched for lower friction, but you I do think about it when a tube has last an extreme amount of time and I need to replace. It defo won't hurt, but what I would do is sprinkle some over the tube and then just rub it around with your hand. I found putting it directly into the tyre can make it lump up with water ingress...
@@bicycleguru I had a tube delaminate a bit after I removed it due to stickiness, its wasnt an expensive tire either but pressure was around 4bard+some sun and few years without change. Ill keep adding tire but on the tube, I previously put it on the inside of the tire but you end up putting too much.

do you recommend putting a bit of baby powder in the tire to reduce the tube tire friction?
