Hey EoJ! So.... wow. It's very hard to put a lot of my sheer hype into words, but let's just break this down. First, I'm truly honored that you guys have made plenty of references to MLI Case 1 in this part alone. From Scootaloo's Ribbon being presented, to her being the accused, to the musical tracks you used! It's all incredible and very validating of the work we did on that game. I admit, I felt my heart swell from such, and I cannot thank you guys enough for all the work you've put in this series, and giving MLI a small revival. I still feel pretty awful the project died the way it did, but I'm glad that + Turnabout Storm did enough to push fans into making a full fledged AA story arc for this wonderful universe of Equestria. Seriously, keep up the great work! If you ever need a second opinion on writing/script, I'd be happy to help you guys out. Just putting that out there. Secondly, I want to thank Ule Lopez for introducing me to your team! I couldn't believe that another AAxMLP crossover was happening, and boy I'm ultra grateful to him that he brought me here. He's been a great friend of mine for a couple of years now. And, hopefully he can continue to do his part to promote your hard work where can. This is seriously a difficult project to pull off, and there doesn't seem to be any signs of slowing down. Wow, I didn't even notice how much homage to MLI was given! I saw it with Scootaloo being the accused, but that was about it. You're right, it was a shame the project died, but it definitely gave a lot of inspiration for other content creators.
And I certainly doubt ANY of Equestrias high council approved of Celestias action to ascend such a young filly to royalty. Every day must have them constantly saying "She's too inexperienced!/ She's but a child!/ She doesn't even KNOW half the highest laws!" And a miriad of other nuances she can't refute.
Someone give the voice actor who plays Layton pony a gold star. When I first heard his voice as a Layton fan, I thought "Layton what the heck are you doing here!?" His voice is that spot on!!! I hope he shows up in later cases.
I agree the guards don't do anything they are just there for decoration for the two princesses. Also WTF?! Do they seriously think a child could murder an adult pony? How?! This is insane not to mention cruel. Princess Celestia should feel outraged and ashamed that her guards would think of such a thing!!
I love the irony of Athena questioning whether she should keep at her job due to deciding her career for the sake of saving someone right next to someone who did just that who is also her boss.

In fact before the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles gets released at the end of July, I'm playing through every Ace Attorney game I have and that includes the crossover with Professor Layton, the Investigation spinoff with Miles Edgeworth, watching the playthrough of the fanmade translation of Investigations 2, all the anime, and maybe rewatch Turnabout Storm between Game 2 and 3
Okay, two things I wanna bring up here. 1. 0:48 Goddamn, y’all aren’t holding anything back and I’m loving it. That was the most graphic death image in the entirety of anything we’ve seen in Ace Attorney. I shivered looking at the victim. 2. 1:06:43 I gotta give props to Apple Bloom’s VA, because the scream and the hyperventilating not only sounded genuine, but honestly, because Apple Bloom is still only a filly, it’s exactly what she would’ve done in this situation. We’re off to a crazy start and I can’t wait to start putting the pieces together for this. Awesome work, everyone.
Yeah I absolutely agree the Apple Bloom VA sold the gravity of seeing such a horrific amount of blood beautifully well. That's the kinda acting you can't just get on instinct alone. Lots of practice and some prior experience in acting itself must've been done beforehand to deliver such a reaction.
Anyone else find it curious that out of all the interesting stories, only the mirror pool was told in detail while the others were avoided because “it’s a long story”

The victim lifted the boulder and cloned himself and they both died didn't they? Actually that would be far-fetched due to two different types of blood, but the mirror pool playing a role for something else wouldn't be so far off.

My god, Apple Bloom's scream genuinely terrified me the first time I saw that scene. And it keeps giving me goosebumps every time after that. The power of voice acting. If a scene like this was in a regular AA game (and not an Animé Cutscene), I think it'd just give me a shocker the first time, but nothing much really afterwards.
I really like Private Eye, if he is the detective for the remaining cases I will not be disappointed. He is polite and smart and super helpful, and the fact that he is a reference to Professor Layton only makes his character all the more likable. And he doesn't seem like the type to withhold information or evidence without a good reason, so I look forward to seeing how he'll help the main cast going forward.
I agree. I could see Private Eye being the only one on the investigation to help Phoenix and the gang know the situation so the trails can try to be on a fair plain. Because some prosecutors that Phoenix faces, like to sometimes make things unfair for the defense so they can't put up a fight. Prince Blueblood being a fair example of him almost winning the last case, had Twilight not stepped in when Phoenix needed her.

Cutie Mark Crusaders finally got their cutie marks in the middle of season 5 on the MLP side of things while on the Ace Attorney timeline this happened after Dual Destinies but before Spirits of Justice. Heck right there in the map room of the Castle of Friendship in the very first episode you don't see any Cutie Map because it hasn't been activated until the first episode of season 5

There was a time when he considered having this take place after season 9 of MLP but because the script was first conceived before season 5 even began it had to take place before season 5. Canon or not, I answered the question.

Especially, when you consider, where the victim was stabbed (in the head, what is... strange... place to be stabbed, unless Timberwolf stabbed him with the fang). Also, I wouldn't be surprised, if the Royal Order's murder was only coverage/distraction for real murder, what occurred on Nightmare Moon Statue. Let's remember that wiped blood... wasn't Royal Order's. That's another victim, who lost his life.
@@NightmareMoon9964 I don't think a timberwolf is involved in any death cause there would multiple marks of their fangs on the victim. Something tells me that the nightmare moon statue was used as a murder weapon. Once you take a closer look there is a pointy edge there and it could potentially be used to kill somepony.

Another possibility is Silver Shill, who played a part in AJ’s development in her element, if you consider the fact that Coco, who played in a part in Rarity’s development in her element, was also framed for murder. For Fluttershy, I can safely it would be Discord m. I’m sure any pony, especially in the higher up would want to frame him for murder to finally get rid of the spirit of chaos Pinkie Pie, I can safely assume one of her family members from the Rock farm or maybe even Mr or Mrs Cake. Cranky is also a possibility. And of course, Cheese Sandwich. For Twilight, Shining Armor since he did appear for an animation test for Apollo’s power

I can’t help but feel that Athena & Twilight will have a serious connection with each other after she showed Athena what happened to her old home and how it happened. Something tells me that Twilight will be connecting to Phoenix, Athena, and Apollo a lot that it sparks a new friendship power or something.
Ok... First... This episode was absolutely... Awesome. And it finally kicks things up a notch first a guy gets Zapped then another gets hanged, and now one was straight up just Murdered, DEAR GOD. And now a child's life is in the hands of a one team good lord, talk about turning up the Heat.. and this is MLP for godsake. It shouldn't be this intense, but I'm glad it is

@@jcj268 OMG, YES! I was wondering how Froggy Bottom Bog would factor into this case and the would be PERFECT. It reminds me of Psycho when the Killer (people who have seen the movie know what I'm talking about) drove their victim's car (with the dead victim in the trunk) into a very swampy lake and sank the truck inside in order to get rid of the evidence. I could totally see that kind of logic being used with the statue murder. My theory is that Royal Order was trying to save his son and the CMC from a Tiumerwolf after they went into the Everfree Forest at night. Royal Order trued to lure the Timberwolf away and succeeded, but it ultimately led to his death. HOWEVER, during their escape the CMC and Royal's son saw the aftermath of the SECOND murder at the statue, the dead body being dragged to Froggy Bottom Bog, probably. THUS, the reason the CMC and Royal's son are reluctant to divulge what happened in the forest is because they were either intimidated to scared into silence about the second murder. That seems the type of misdirection that is on-brand for Turnabout Storm and the last case.

GOLLY! I watched the "Nightmare Night" "hidden blood" scene like... 30 minutes ago and I'm STILL terrified as heck. "Golden Oak Library" Scene didn't helped either. Whoa, of all EoJ series (and even Turnabout Storm) THIS part (2-1) was MOST intense. I've never had an that long-lasting feelings about the Spectacle. Also, for the first time, I can't get any clue for the plot (So congrats to Script Writers, they did a great job). Sound designer (Also graphics), you did... 1:06:40 HORRIFYINGLY Good job. It was really realistic and... ... Golly (sorry...) Anyway, the Graphic and Sound Designers did good job. The Sound is good, the Dialogues are hearable, the Background, animations, characters, even (upgraded?!) thumbnail, are splendid. Leading to Conclusion, EoJ Staff, you did greater work than ever before. Graphics, Sound, Plot, Animations, all of the work is Genius. Aljavis, I beg you and your folks, never give up. ... ... (1:06:40) Eeyup, it's 0:45 (45 minutes after midnight) and I now have to go sleep well, huh? Yeah, -greeeaaat...-
I agree! The way the scene quickly cuts to the statue, the horrified scream from Apple Bloom, and the amount of blood stains caught me so unprepared that I stared at the screen with terror in my eyes for several seconds before calming down. This first part really knows how to throw some good punches, considering the chase scene at the beginning too. 😨

I feel kinda bad for being a week late to this, but yeah, here we go. This is a spectacular start to the case. I really love how everyone is interacting so naturally with each other and getting along based on their own stories and interests. It's kinda like a redo of the first case intro except now we go into more detail on what everyone has been through. The new VAs and characters are great too. I actually had to google Turning Page to make sure if he was a character from the show (since I've never seen it) or if he was original. Knowing it's the latter makes it a lot better, because the OCs from Turnabout Storm were definitely my favorite part. Speaking of Turnabout Storm, could those glass shards have been from Sonata's glasses? Maybe they're remnants from that case. Getting off that tangent, I like the family aspect between Turning Page and his parents. It's really sweet and I kinda envy him. He gives a very heroic and majestic vibe, and I also get the feeling the way his mom is acting might play into the case. I had the biggest grin on my face when Private Eye was introduced. I knew the instant he started speaking that this was a pony version of Professor Layton but I'm not complaining. I didn't expect you to reference that piece of PWAA history but it was a very pleasant surprise. I really hope to see more of him (though if there's a pony that represents Luke then I might just pass out from the hype). The Nightmare Night scene was a shocker. I liked it a lot because of the aforementioned family aspect between Turning Page and his mom (and also his new friendship with Scootaloo), but also... holy buck, that blood. That's like Danganronpa levels right there, and the "dead body found" music was playing through my head when I saw that. I have no idea what could have caused something that brutal, but I'm very eager to find out. I'm with Athena on being lost with all the MLP lore put into this episode. Again, I haven't seen the show at all, and I'm sure if I had I'd at least have some idea. I'm sure it doesn't impact the experience too much though; it's probably just me being nitpicky and out of the loop. I think that's all I have to say about the story. As for the technical side, it was very well done! I really liked the mix of the original and custom SFX that were used here. Also there was the intro cutscene and the artwork used at the start that had a lot of care put into them. They all provided just the right amount of tension and emotion. And then there's the big one, the end credits. The sketchbook style with the simplistic drawings was really charming, and it reminded me of some children's shows I used to watch. I think my only gripe with this section though (my only gripe in the whole episode actually) was the singing. It was really cool to hear an English cover of one of the PWAA anime songs, but well, it sounded kinda off, especially in the parts where it really mattered. I'm not sure if that was a cover you pulled off of TH-cam, or if it was made for the video specifically, but yeah, it... wasn't the best. I feel kinda bad pointing that out cause I don't want to put anyone down, but it just didn't sit right with me. I think that's about all I have to say about this. And the investigation isn't even over yet! If this much good quality can be put into just the investigation, then I'm sure the trial, Psyche-Locks, and Mood Matrix sections will be just as great. I can't wait to see it! Oh yeah, and I'm really glad we're focusing on Athena. She's my favorite of the lawyer trio.
Wow, that moment at the end was... beautiful. Twilight still burdened by the weight of her responsibilities as a princess, never wanting to be burdened by said responsibilities, but forced to accept it regardless. And seeing Twilight so distraught with sadness over the loss of the Golden Oak Library; her home, was heartbreaking, far better than how 'Castle Sweet Castle' episode handled, Twilight here feels far more genuine in her heartache, clearly still stricken with grief, as one surely would be after losing their home.
Man. You guys really outdid yourselves again. The entire thing is emotional, full of unanswered questions, and full of cool new characters, and it's just part 1! I'm excited to see how this continues, as I always was.
Huh, Private Eye, he looks like he's based off of Professor Hershel Layton, attire-wise. And Apple Bloom was spooked to see a large amount of blood traces leftover. She is just a filly after all. And it seems Phoenix is shocked to see the ruins of the Golden Oaks Library. Nice references by the way.
And Scootaloo's wagon, I have a sneaking suspicion it was used by someone other than Scootaloo, could have been used to move a body perhaps? And the blood was wiped away? But then why not clean that strange hoofprint? Unless they didn't think it was necessary to remove.

The obvious question about the wagon is where the handle ended up. When it comes to Fair Devotion, my first guess would be that she thinks her son may have done it, so is trying to cover that up.
With Scootaloo being framed it makes Twilight's actress being from My Little Investigations pretty fitting for this case. 18:13 "a MERE Element Bearer." Excuse me!?! Where were you when Nightmare Moon nearly brought eternal night? When Discord almost brought eternal chaos? Or when a demonic Centaur was destroying Equestria? Oh, right you were with the other Royal Guards sitting on the sideline being useless! Maybe if you actually did a good job you can be smug, but spoiler alert you guys don't do shit for the rest of the series. So how bout you step aside and shut up!!! Anyway great episode. Loved the reference to Discord and it was cool to see Athena taking a case. Can't wait to see Apollo take his. Dang the area around the statue was gruesome. Ok, so the Magic Mirror Pool has something to do with. There's no way they are going to bring it up and explain it after not explaining all the other referencing the other episodes, and have it not contribute in some way. Though if we are bringing that in it could make things a lot more tricky. Can't wait to see more!!!
I've been following this series since the beginning. And I've been very impressed with what I've seen so far. This latest instalment was no exception. TheAIJarvis said he and his team were aiming to make this case better than the first, and it looks like they're on the right track. You can tell a lot of heart went into it. First of all, let's discuss the things I had mixed feelings about - starting with the animation. Considering Turnabout Storm had only static images for its investigation portions, it's admirable to see everything fully animated here. I know it takes more time and effort to do it like that. New vectors and effects were used, too. Most of them were good, like Phoenix Wright's character model and Twilight sighing (30:06). However, others seemed slow or off-putting. For example, Rainbow Dash had a weird-looking nose at one point (10:05-10:17). And I'm not sure how I feel about Spike staring directly into the camera (12:15-14:00). These were all minor nitpicks, though. There was also the voice acting. For the most part, everyone did a stellar job. Twilight has had four different voices already, but each actor has performed the role well. Plus, the changes are barely noticeable. SilverFeathers was great as Scootaloo, MLP Arts was brilliant as Apple Bloom, and Joe Prezelman718 was incredible as Private Eye. Unfortunately, the one actor who sounded a bit off was Kimmy as Rainbow Dash. It's not just me. Many people noticed her voice was rather nasally. It's obvious she was talking from her nose and barely managed to do Rainbow's voice. I'm not saying she was terrible overall; her Fluttershy voice was much better. Also (going by the recent trailer), I think Sweetie Belle's actor needs some work too. Now let's discuss the things I enjoyed. First of all, it's intriguing to see this portion of the story told from Athena's perspective. Especially with how she reminisces on her past and connects with characters like Apple Bloom, Page Turner and Twilight. I'm excited to see her psychology skills used in the upcoming trial. Something else I admired was the story's darker elements. A pony being hung to death is one thing. But this video had moments where I felt genuinely terrified. That opening with the timberwolf; those depictions of blood (though the worst one is cleverly censored); and that giant splatter over the statue, which resulted in Apple Bloom's horrific scream. It's practically nightmare-inducing. Even more shocking was Scootaloo being accused of the murder - I always imagined it would be Zecora. Given she's already one of the series' most sympathetic ponies, it was soul-crushing to see her in hoofcuffs. Then you have all the Friendship is Magic references. From Applebuck Season to Twilight's Kingdom, there were lots of episodes hinted at here. Maybe even too many. The characters often start talking about things, like Nightmare Moon and the Castle of the Two Sisters. But then they suddenly stop because they're getting sidetracked. Even Athena is annoyed by all the vagueness. On the flip side, the Ace Attorney universe is explained very well to newcomers. I've never played the main games myself. But the more I watched this series, the more it makes me want to. If we are talking about references, though, there's one character I have to mention. You all know who I mean, the investigator from Canterlot, Private Eye. From the moment you see and hear him, you know who he's meant to be: the puzzle-solving extraordinaire, Professor Layton. Not only is he designed well, but Phoenix reminisces on his adventure with the Professor, and we hear music, not unlike the famous Layton theme. Plus, Private Eye's voice is just perfect. You'd swear it was Christopher Miller, himself, performing the role. Joe Prezelman718, you have got talent. Overall, this investigation hit all the right marks for me - and I understand there's still more to come. The narrative balances light-hearted humour with horrific imagery. The references explain everything that non-Phoenix Wright or -MLP fans need to know. And it builds a solid case with an abundance of evidence to be used in the trial. I have to wonder. Will the trial itself be concluded in one part? It'd be good if all the cases were just three episodes long for now. Then the last one can be longer and better. In any case, everyone did a fantastic job, and I'm looking forward to this investigation's second half. P.S. I had an idea for the writing staff. I know this story's continuity takes place between the fourth and fifth seasons of Friendship is Magic. And the writing, so far, has done well to stick to that. However, I'm sure it must be frustrating not including characters like Starlight Glimmer or a reformed Trixie. I know fans are disappointed. But what if there's a way around that? Feel free to ignore this, as I'm sure most of the writing has been done already. But what if, after one trial, Phoenix and the others did return home (either accidentally or by choice)? And then, by the time they were summoned back, several seasons of the show had passed, allowing those characters to be featured? I know it would be tricky since Equestria's timeline is slower. Plus, you'd have to explain why the murders suddenly stopped and then restarted again. But you've worked errors into the narrative before. Quite seamlessly, in fact. It's just a thought.

Unfortunately, as you predicted, most of the story has already been plotted out with the premise that this story takes place between Seasons 4 and 5, so we won’t be including anything beyond Season 4 in this series. On a side note, it’s actually refreshing to have such a limited pool of characters to work with. If this story were to take place in Season 8, for example, it’d be a nightmare to include all of the Mane Six, Starlight’s posse, the CMC, the Young Six, and our host of OCs. We don’t regret our decision at all.
Wow, i am really loving these new borders on the thumbnail. I especially love the new title card of the series being included as well. This series has come a LONG WAY since the first part of Case 1.
This was well worth the wait. Nice job to all who worked on this. I'm really looking forward to the second part of the investigation when it comes out. Oh, and let me just say, I REALLY love Private Eye. He certainly does feel like a pony version of Professor Layton. I just really love his personality and design. If he's in future cases, then I'm REALLY going to enjoy seeing him around. I'm happy to hear how much bigger your team got bigger too. I feel like we won't have to wait another whole year until the next video now. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the next part. Please take your time, and do your best Team Elements of Justice. I shall be waiting patiently for the next part.

3 comments) 1) This was just the first episode of case 2 and I already feel like asking a lot of questions especially about Royal Order, his son Turning Page, his wife Fair Devotion, Scootaloo, Applebloom, Zecora, and this possible "second victim." 2) I somehow think reason why Twilight became an alicorn and her castle grew in Ponyville are for a similar reason why Arthur was ended up being the one to pull the Excalibur sword from its stone or why Billy Batson was chosen to become Shazam. 3) The Opening Cutscene somehow seems like it may have a lot answer to a lot of questions about the whole case.

Another case begins and I am loving what I'm seeing. It's wonderful how, along with the mystery and the gathering of clues, we are also getting to see some in-depth emotions to the characters and their personal struggles. It makes them and their situations feel more real, and thus more fulfilling. Turning Page is both charming and dear. You can tell he's hurting, but he's trying to be "strong" as he puts it. However, with-holding your sadness can actually do more harm than good. Sadness is a crucial emotion to have and to feel; ignoring it can lead to depression, and depression can lead you to an even worse state. I'm also getting a sense that the series, as a whole, is leading to a grand conclusion, with Twilight's role as princess, the talk about "how far Equestrian royalty has fallen (mentioned in the last case), the High Council, and other such elements. Perhaps that's why the series is called "The Elements of Justice"? All in all, you all have done a magnificent job. I can tell that you are all putting your hearts into this project, so keep on going. I hope you all have fun along the way. 🙂 Oh, and nice touch with the end credits. The song isn't exactly memorable (sorry), but the animations are very charming and welcome.
I think we can count that opening as the "s**t got real" moment. That's more blood than I expected to see. Edit: I made this comment before I saw the rest of the episode. This is a real AA story now.
My thoughts: 1. It's great to see that Athena will be taking on the case. 2. If my hunch is correct, I think Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were involved with the murder, possibly pressuring or blackmailing Scootaloo. 3. I absolutely loved the continuity, especially with Twilight sharing her feelings after the events of Tirek destroying the library. This was way before Castle Sweet Castle when she opened that up to her friends. And 4. Great end credits and song. Now we'll have to wait more months to see part 2. (my mind inside is wanting more).
I Love love love love LOVE the outro, such a beautiful rendition, and a nice tribute to the Ace Attorney Anime. Great story guys, can't wait to see what's next!
I work on the project, but I only do script editing. I knew the scene was coming, but it still scared me seeing it in video form for the first time, as I was not expecting for it to go QUITE as far as it did. But, hey, a picture (and maybe a scream) is worth a thousand words, right?
Oh my god. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright is fucking canon to the EoJ universe. That makes me *very* happy. I also love who I'm going to assume will be the recurring lead detective for this series. Professor Layton is one of my favorite franchises, and whoever voices him is doing a fantastic job. It is a tad weird to hear Professor Layton's voice come out of someone claiming to be a detective, but it's great to see a pony say "Every puzzle has an answer."
damn talk about an episode especially the blood that was left. bit shockin and tad scary but just kinda makes me eager to see part 2 of this case when ever its done. especially the sad feelin stuff, change happens good or bad like how life is love it and the work put into this series. the team that made this whole series in the first place did freakin awesome
i'm on the edge of my seat and that shock reveal of the hidden blood at the statue, it was like right out of Danganronpa game, i loved that kinda sudden plot twist, keep it up guys i can't wait for Pt 2

Here's my thing... There is no way that there is a second victim. The first victim has a giant, gaping hole on the left side of his cranium ye? Someone, grabbed 'im, tossed to air and had him land on top the Nightmare Moon statue... It's the best I got.
@@Tarrenxer The problem with that is that the blood on the statue wasn’t the victims. It has to be someone else. And since someone can’t survive after losing that much blood, then that person is also dead.
@@dannysmi7162 Yeah, that's what's bothering... Yet, the impalement is still there cause the victim has a gaping hole, similar to that of a giant nail instead of a broken scooter. But that's just speculation right? We still have to see it on trial, in the next episode I mean.

Yay, my friend Optic Rainfall is the voice of Turning Page! And MLP Arts did nicely as Apple Bloom, especially with her extreme fright at the statue, spot on acting right there!
This was a wild ride... I really like the whole thing with Athena relating to the feelings of Twilight and how we are diving into her backstory. Since she is proficient with feelings and thoughts, it made the episode so much more complex! I love all the callbacks and hints at not only the show, but My Little Investigations and the Turnabout Storm series! I must say though, the blood in the statue and the scream really caught me off guard, wasn't expecting that at all. And I also wasn't expecting to be so lost! All the clues, the questions left unanswered... amazing. Amazing job! I think maybe the first scenes dragged out a little but I understand those were meant to see the bonding between the characters, so I guess it is fine since the other parts might be more story driven. All in all, I was at edge of my seat! Really emotional, well done and truly intriguing first episode of the second case!

So.... wow. It's very hard to put a lot of my sheer hype into words, but let's just break this down.
First, I'm truly honored that you guys have made plenty of references to MLI Case 1 in this part alone. From Scootaloo's Ribbon being presented, to her being the accused, to the musical tracks you used! It's all incredible and very validating of the work we did on that game. I admit, I felt my heart swell from such, and I cannot thank you guys enough for all the work you've put in this series, and giving MLI a small revival. I still feel pretty awful the project died the way it did, but I'm glad that + Turnabout Storm did enough to push fans into making a full fledged AA story arc for this wonderful universe of Equestria. Seriously, keep up the great work! If you ever need a second opinion on writing/script, I'd be happy to help you guys out. Just putting that out there.
Secondly, I want to thank Ule Lopez for introducing me to your team! I couldn't believe that another AAxMLP crossover was happening, and boy I'm ultra grateful to him that he brought me here. He's been a great friend of mine for a couple of years now. And, hopefully he can continue to do his part to promote your hard work where can. This is seriously a difficult project to pull off, and there doesn't seem to be any signs of slowing down.
Third, it'd be really cool if you guys could also thank GabuEx, the original lead of MLI in a future video. I... honestly wouldn't be as invested in the fandom if it wasn't for him and getting involved with this gaming project. He's worked on the game harder than I have, and I'm sure he'd be more than thrilled to hear of this project!

Okay, two things I wanna bring up here.
1. 0:48 Goddamn, y’all aren’t holding anything back and I’m loving it. That was the most graphic death image in the entirety of anything we’ve seen in Ace Attorney. I shivered looking at the victim.
2. 1:06:43 I gotta give props to Apple Bloom’s VA, because the scream and the hyperventilating not only sounded genuine, but honestly, because Apple Bloom is still only a filly, it’s exactly what she would’ve done in this situation.

Yeah I absolutely agree the Apple Bloom VA sold the gravity of seeing such a horrific amount of blood beautifully well. That's the kinda acting you can't just get on instinct alone. Lots of practice and some prior experience in acting itself must've been done beforehand to deliver such a reaction.

My god, Apple Bloom's scream genuinely terrified me the first time I saw that scene.
And it keeps giving me goosebumps every time after that. The power of voice acting.
If a scene like this was in a regular AA game (and not an Animé Cutscene), I think it'd just give me a shocker the first time,
but nothing much really afterwards.
I really like Private Eye, if he is the detective for the remaining cases I will not be disappointed. He is polite and smart and super helpful, and the fact that he is a reference to Professor Layton only makes his character all the more likable. And he doesn't seem like the type to withhold information or evidence without a good reason, so I look forward to seeing how he'll help the main cast going forward.
I agree. I could see Private Eye being the only one on the investigation to help Phoenix and the gang know the situation so the trails can try to be on a fair plain. Because some prosecutors that Phoenix faces, like to sometimes make things unfair for the defense so they can't put up a fight. Prince Blueblood being a fair example of him almost winning the last case, had Twilight not stepped in when Phoenix needed her.
Well, I hope Layton himself will appear. Or Ryunosuke, no matter how.

Cutie Mark Crusaders finally got their cutie marks in the middle of season 5 on the MLP side of things while on the Ace Attorney timeline this happened after Dual Destinies but before Spirits of Justice.
Heck right there in the map room of the Castle of Friendship in the very first episode you don't see any Cutie Map because it hasn't been activated until the first episode of season 5

There was a time when he considered having this take place after season 9 of MLP but because the script was first conceived before season 5 even began it had to take place before season 5.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised, if the Royal Order's murder was only coverage/distraction for real murder, what occurred on Nightmare Moon Statue. Let's remember that wiped blood... wasn't Royal Order's. That's another victim, who lost his life.

Something tells me that the nightmare moon statue was used as a murder weapon. Once you take a closer look there is a pointy edge there and it could potentially be used to kill somepony.

I can’t help but feel that Athena & Twilight will have a serious connection with each other after she showed Athena what happened to her old home and how it happened. Something tells me that Twilight will be connecting to Phoenix, Athena, and Apollo a lot that it sparks a new friendship power or something.

Ok... First... This episode was absolutely... Awesome. And it finally kicks things up a notch first a guy gets Zapped then another gets hanged, and now one was straight up just Murdered, DEAR GOD. And now a child's life is in the hands of a one team good lord, talk about turning up the Heat.. and this is MLP for godsake. It shouldn't be this intense, but I'm glad it is

My theory is that a Timberwolf killed Royal Order, but the Statue killing is part of the underlying mystery that Phoenix teased at the end of Case 1.

@@jcj268 OMG, YES! I was wondering how Froggy Bottom Bog would factor into this case and the would be PERFECT.
It reminds me of Psycho when the Killer (people who have seen the movie know what I'm talking about) drove their victim's car (with the dead victim in the trunk) into a very swampy lake and sank the truck inside in order to get rid of the evidence.
I could totally see that kind of logic being used with the statue murder.
My theory is that Royal Order was trying to save his son and the CMC from a Tiumerwolf after they went into the Everfree Forest at night. Royal Order trued to lure the Timberwolf away and succeeded, but it ultimately led to his death. HOWEVER, during their escape the CMC and Royal's son saw the aftermath of the SECOND murder at the statue, the dead body being dragged to Froggy Bottom Bog, probably. THUS, the reason the CMC and Royal's son are reluctant to divulge what happened in the forest is because they were either intimidated to scared into silence about the second murder.
That seems the type of misdirection that is on-brand for Turnabout Storm and the last case.

GOLLY! I watched the "Nightmare Night" "hidden blood" scene like... 30 minutes ago and I'm STILL terrified as heck. "Golden Oak Library" Scene didn't helped either.
Whoa, of all EoJ series (and even Turnabout Storm) THIS part (2-1) was MOST intense. I've never had an that long-lasting feelings about the Spectacle. Also, for the first time, I can't get any clue for the plot (So congrats to Script Writers, they did a great job).

The way the scene quickly cuts to the statue, the horrified scream from Apple Bloom, and the amount of blood stains caught me so unprepared that I stared at the screen with terror in my eyes for several seconds before calming down. This first part really knows how to throw some good punches, considering the chase scene at the beginning too. 😨

I feel kinda bad for being a week late to this, but yeah, here we go.
This is a spectacular start to the case. I really love how everyone is interacting so naturally with each other and getting along based on their own stories and interests. It's kinda like a redo of the first case intro except now we go into more detail on what everyone has been through.
The new VAs and characters are great too. I actually had to google Turning Page to make sure if he was a character from the show (since I've never seen it) or if he was original. Knowing it's the latter makes it a lot better, because the OCs from Turnabout Storm were definitely my favorite part. Speaking of Turnabout Storm, could those glass shards have been from Sonata's glasses? Maybe they're remnants from that case. Getting off that tangent, I like the family aspect between Turning Page and his parents. It's really sweet and I kinda envy him. He gives a very heroic and majestic vibe, and I also get the feeling the way his mom is acting might play into the case.
I had the biggest grin on my face when Private Eye was introduced. I knew the instant he started speaking that this was a pony version of Professor Layton but I'm not complaining. I didn't expect you to reference that piece of PWAA history but it was a very pleasant surprise. I really hope to see more of him (though if there's a pony that represents Luke then I might just pass out from the hype).
The Nightmare Night scene was a shocker. I liked it a lot because of the aforementioned family aspect between Turning Page and his mom (and also his new friendship with Scootaloo), but also... holy buck, that blood. That's like Danganronpa levels right there, and the "dead body found" music was playing through my head when I saw that. I have no idea what could have caused something that brutal, but I'm very eager to find out.
I'm with Athena on being lost with all the MLP lore put into this episode. Again, I haven't seen the show at all, and I'm sure if I had I'd at least have some idea. I'm sure it doesn't impact the experience too much though; it's probably just me being nitpicky and out of the loop.
I think that's all I have to say about the story. As for the technical side, it was very well done! I really liked the mix of the original and custom SFX that were used here. Also there was the intro cutscene and the artwork used at the start that had a lot of care put into them. They all provided just the right amount of tension and emotion. And then there's the big one, the end credits. The sketchbook style with the simplistic drawings was really charming, and it reminded me of some children's shows I used to watch. I think my only gripe with this section though (my only gripe in the whole episode actually) was the singing. It was really cool to hear an English cover of one of the PWAA anime songs, but well, it sounded kinda off, especially in the parts where it really mattered. I'm not sure if that was a cover you pulled off of TH-cam, or if it was made for the video specifically, but yeah, it... wasn't the best. I feel kinda bad pointing that out cause I don't want to put anyone down, but it just didn't sit right with me.
I think that's about all I have to say about this. And the investigation isn't even over yet! If this much good quality can be put into just the investigation, then I'm sure the trial, Psyche-Locks, and Mood Matrix sections will be just as great. I can't wait to see it!
Oh yeah, and I'm really glad we're focusing on Athena. She's my favorite of the lawyer trio.
Wow, that moment at the end was... beautiful. Twilight still burdened by the weight of her responsibilities as a princess, never wanting to be burdened by said responsibilities, but forced to accept it regardless. And seeing Twilight so distraught with sadness over the loss of the Golden Oak Library; her home, was heartbreaking, far better than how 'Castle Sweet Castle' episode handled, Twilight here feels far more genuine in her heartache, clearly still stricken with grief, as one surely would be after losing their home.
I almost cried at this part. Really painful to see

Anyway great episode. Loved the reference to Discord and it was cool to see Athena taking a case. Can't wait to see Apollo take his. Dang the area around the statue was gruesome. Ok, so the Magic Mirror Pool has something to do with. There's no way they are going to bring it up and explain it after not explaining all the other referencing the other episodes, and have it not contribute in some way. Though if we are bringing that in it could make things a lot more tricky.

I've been following this series since the beginning. And I've been very impressed with what I've seen so far. This latest instalment was no exception. TheAIJarvis said he and his team were aiming to make this case better than the first, and it looks like they're on the right track. You can tell a lot of heart went into it.
First of all, let's discuss the things I had mixed feelings about - starting with the animation. Considering Turnabout Storm had only static images for its investigation portions, it's admirable to see everything fully animated here. I know it takes more time and effort to do it like that. New vectors and effects were used, too. Most of them were good, like Phoenix Wright's character model and Twilight sighing (30:06). However, others seemed slow or off-putting. For example, Rainbow Dash had a weird-looking nose at one point (10:05-10:17). And I'm not sure how I feel about Spike staring directly into the camera (12:15-14:00). These were all minor nitpicks, though.
There was also the voice acting. For the most part, everyone did a stellar job. Twilight has had four different voices already, but each actor has performed the role well. Plus, the changes are barely noticeable. SilverFeathers was great as Scootaloo, MLP Arts was brilliant as Apple Bloom, and Joe Prezelman718 was incredible as Private Eye.
Unfortunately, the one actor who sounded a bit off was Kimmy as Rainbow Dash. It's not just me. Many people noticed her voice was rather nasally. It's obvious she was talking from her nose and barely managed to do Rainbow's voice. I'm not saying she was terrible overall; her Fluttershy voice was much better. Also (going by the recent trailer), I think Sweetie Belle's actor needs some work too.
Now let's discuss the things I enjoyed. First of all, it's intriguing to see this portion of the story told from Athena's perspective. Especially with how she reminisces on her past and connects with characters like Apple Bloom, Page Turner and Twilight. I'm excited to see her psychology skills used in the upcoming trial.
Something else I admired was the story's darker elements. A pony being hung to death is one thing. But this video had moments where I felt genuinely terrified. That opening with the timberwolf; those depictions of blood (though the worst one is cleverly censored); and that giant splatter over the statue, which resulted in Apple Bloom's horrific scream. It's practically nightmare-inducing.
Even more shocking was Scootaloo being accused of the murder - I always imagined it would be Zecora. Given she's already one of the series' most sympathetic ponies, it was soul-crushing to see her in hoofcuffs.
Then you have all the Friendship is Magic references. From Applebuck Season to Twilight's Kingdom, there were lots of episodes hinted at here. Maybe even too many. The characters often start talking about things, like Nightmare Moon and the Castle of the Two Sisters. But then they suddenly stop because they're getting sidetracked. Even Athena is annoyed by all the vagueness. On the flip side, the Ace Attorney universe is explained very well to newcomers. I've never played the main games myself. But the more I watched this series, the more it makes me want to.
If we are talking about references, though, there's one character I have to mention. You all know who I mean, the investigator from Canterlot, Private Eye. From the moment you see and hear him, you know who he's meant to be: the puzzle-solving extraordinaire, Professor Layton. Not only is he designed well, but Phoenix reminisces on his adventure with the Professor, and we hear music, not unlike the famous Layton theme. Plus, Private Eye's voice is just perfect. You'd swear it was Christopher Miller, himself, performing the role. Joe Prezelman718, you have got talent.
Overall, this investigation hit all the right marks for me - and I understand there's still more to come. The narrative balances light-hearted humour with horrific imagery. The references explain everything that non-Phoenix Wright or -MLP fans need to know. And it builds a solid case with an abundance of evidence to be used in the trial.
I have to wonder. Will the trial itself be concluded in one part? It'd be good if all the cases were just three episodes long for now. Then the last one can be longer and better. In any case, everyone did a fantastic job, and I'm looking forward to this investigation's second half.
P.S. I had an idea for the writing staff. I know this story's continuity takes place between the fourth and fifth seasons of Friendship is Magic. And the writing, so far, has done well to stick to that. However, I'm sure it must be frustrating not including characters like Starlight Glimmer or a reformed Trixie. I know fans are disappointed. But what if there's a way around that? Feel free to ignore this, as I'm sure most of the writing has been done already. But what if, after one trial, Phoenix and the others did return home (either accidentally or by choice)? And then, by the time they were summoned back, several seasons of the show had passed, allowing those characters to be featured? I know it would be tricky since Equestria's timeline is slower. Plus, you'd have to explain why the murders suddenly stopped and then restarted again. But you've worked errors into the narrative before. Quite seamlessly, in fact. It's just a thought.

Unfortunately, as you predicted, most of the story has already been plotted out with the premise that this story takes place between Seasons 4 and 5, so we won’t be including anything beyond Season 4 in this series. On a side note, it’s actually refreshing to have such a limited pool of characters to work with. If this story were to take place in Season 8, for example, it’d be a nightmare to include all of the Mane Six, Starlight’s posse, the CMC, the Young Six, and our host of OCs. We don’t regret our decision at all.

1) This was just the first episode of case 2 and I already feel like asking a lot of questions especially about Royal Order, his son Turning Page, his wife Fair Devotion, Scootaloo, Applebloom, Zecora, and this possible "second victim."
2) I somehow think reason why Twilight became an alicorn and her castle grew in Ponyville are for a similar reason why Arthur was ended up being the one to pull the Excalibur sword from its stone or why Billy Batson was chosen to become Shazam.
3) The Opening Cutscene somehow seems like it may have a lot answer to a lot of questions about the whole case.

Another case begins and I am loving what I'm seeing.
It's wonderful how, along with the mystery and the gathering of clues, we are also getting to see some in-depth emotions to the characters and their personal struggles. It makes them and their situations feel more real, and thus more fulfilling.
Turning Page is both charming and dear. You can tell he's hurting, but he's trying to be "strong" as he puts it. However, with-holding your sadness can actually do more harm than good. Sadness is a crucial emotion to have and to feel; ignoring it can lead to depression, and depression can lead you to an even worse state.
I'm also getting a sense that the series, as a whole, is leading to a grand conclusion, with Twilight's role as princess, the talk about "how far Equestrian royalty has fallen (mentioned in the last case), the High Council, and other such elements. Perhaps that's why the series is called "The Elements of Justice"?
All in all, you all have done a magnificent job. I can tell that you are all putting your hearts into this project, so keep on going. I hope you all have fun along the way. 🙂
Oh, and nice touch with the end credits. The song isn't exactly memorable (sorry), but the animations are very charming and welcome.

1. It's great to see that Athena will be taking on the case.
2. If my hunch is correct, I think Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were involved with the murder, possibly pressuring or blackmailing Scootaloo.
3. I absolutely loved the continuity, especially with Twilight sharing her feelings after the events of Tirek destroying the library. This was way before Castle Sweet Castle when she opened that up to her friends.
And 4. Great end credits and song. Now we'll have to wait more months to see part 2. (my mind inside is wanting more).

I work on the project, but I only do script editing. I knew the scene was coming, but it still scared me seeing it in video form for the first time, as I was not expecting for it to go QUITE as far as it did. But, hey, a picture (and maybe a scream) is worth a thousand words, right?

Oh my god. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright is fucking canon to the EoJ universe. That makes me *very* happy. I also love who I'm going to assume will be the recurring lead detective for this series. Professor Layton is one of my favorite franchises, and whoever voices him is doing a fantastic job. It is a tad weird to hear Professor Layton's voice come out of someone claiming to be a detective, but it's great to see a pony say "Every puzzle has an answer."

Statue Bloodstain
(Bloodstain found of, and behind the nightmare night statue. The blood does not belong to the victim. All visible traces of the bloodstain were removed, except for a small pool behind the statue.

Here's my thing... There is no way that there is a second victim. The first victim has a giant, gaping hole on the left side of his cranium ye? Someone, grabbed 'im, tossed to air and had him land on top the Nightmare Moon statue... It's the best I got.
@@Tarrenxer The problem with that is that the blood on the statue wasn’t the victims. It has to be someone else. And since someone can’t survive after losing that much blood, then that person is also dead.
@@Tarrenxer then how did he end up at the bridge without a bloodtrail?
@@dannysmi7162 Yeah, that's what's bothering... Yet, the impalement is still there cause the victim has a gaping hole, similar to that of a giant nail instead of a broken scooter. But that's just speculation right? We still have to see it on trial, in the next episode I mean.

Yay, my friend Optic Rainfall is the voice of Turning Page! And MLP Arts did nicely as Apple Bloom, especially with her extreme fright at the statue, spot on acting right there!
This was a wild ride... I really like the whole thing with Athena relating to the feelings of Twilight and how we are diving into her backstory. Since she is proficient with feelings and thoughts, it made the episode so much more complex! I love all the callbacks and hints at not only the show, but My Little Investigations and the Turnabout Storm series!
I must say though, the blood in the statue and the scream really caught me off guard, wasn't expecting that at all. And I also wasn't expecting to be so lost! All the clues, the questions left unanswered... amazing.
Amazing job! I think maybe the first scenes dragged out a little but I understand those were meant to see the bonding between the characters, so I guess it is fine since the other parts might be more story driven.
All in all, I was at edge of my seat! Really emotional, well done and truly intriguing first episode of the second case!
