Nice! I would definitely do a manual brake conversion, and you can also get two drivers side motor mounts and them upside down and slot one of the holes to use for your motor mounts.
Concern with the front sump oil pan, that turbo hits and the motor will be out of oil real quick. Reversed oil pan will also make it clear the cross section better
@bertvisser6423 the trailblazer has used the stock pan with the same turbo for about a year now. The accusump has 3 qts of oil in reserve to ahove into the motor when there is a drop in oil pressure. If i didnt know this worked already id agree with you.
Awe man! I'm so excited to watch your progress on this build. I plan to start gathering parts later this year for a 4200 build- just researching now. 1 question though, are you going to keep the front sump stock oil pan? A custom rear sump pan like Calvin's may help you to open up some room to get the motor further back. It also may help you to retain the sway bar, but I'm not really sure. Just my thoughts J, but luvin what you are doing with your Trailblazer and the S14! - Dee
The cross member sits too far back to have a rear sump pan unfortunately. if i do a custom pan it would be a dry sump. id love to do it but it gets expensive and time consuming. im going to try and make the stock pan work first with an accusump like the trailblazer. thats the ideal scenario for me.
@@J-Whit Yeah, I rewatched your video and saw exactly what you mean about the pan. I did a quick search for you though. GKTech makes a brake booster delete kit for the 240SX. I don't personally have any experience with it, but it may be something that could help you get the extra room that you need. Also, great review of your Trailblazer on thatdudeinblue! Good luck and looking forward to updates!
I would move the motor towards the passenger side of the car, I’ve done that in the past, a lot of cars have offset motors. The drivers weight will balance out the car side to side. Looks bitchin
@Dietcola1 kinda just want to use it for whatever i feel like lol. First even would be a drag and drive most likely, but it wont be a dedicated drag car.
How are things going with this build? Been holding the idea in the back of my head of swapping a atlas 4200 into a 240 for awhile now. My main worries are fitment issues like what you are running into, are there any other vehicles you's know of that might have more engine room for this swap thats not an suv? Im not quite sure i could tackle the fab work needed for that crossmember
So this project is now dead. I am going all in on the 04 gto i have. The 240 requires way more work than im willing to do.they fit in foxbody platforms pretty well, it fits well in the gto, older kuscle cars they fit good too because they are bigger overall.
@@J-Whit right on! Thank you for taking time out of your day to reply, it means a lot! I was actually just watching your video on the GTO last night, nice amount of room in there forsure! Makes me wish they had made the 5.3 GTP's in a rwd platform, have tons of them around here!! Thanks for the advice, greatly appreciated as space in the 240 was a primary concern of mine! I'm starting to wonder if a 4th gen Camaro swap would even be doable considering the height of the block, will definitely keep the fox body idea kicking around! That's forsure! Thanks once again
Unfortunately it wouldnt work. The motor just sat too high. I was going to use crossmember spacers. But it sat too high for my taste. I wound up getting an 04 gto to replace this project.
I think some folks have swapped them but i havent seen videos. i know a few others are in the works as well! hoping it turns out how i have it visioned in my head! lol
Thoughts, concerns, opinions?
Let me know what yall think!
Great car for this engine. Love 240s but very hard to find in good condition and not 10k. Can't wait to see what she'll do in the quarter mile.

@@Calvin-Nelson good idea. hadn't thought of that!

i need to hop on this before it becomes a trend...
There are plenty of motors out there to choose from!
Or the 4.20SX 😅
It may work out more beneficially to remove the stock cross member and make a new one
the shifter is no problem to move back with 2 ball joints out of a small car and a little bit of work.
This is exactly the swap I thought needed to happen!
This thing will be crazy, great video

Those studs are severely underrated!

Ive considered it. Idk if my ocd can handle it lol
@@J-Whit 😅 oh I hear ya, but the end justifies the means
Looking forward to seeing what it'll do.
Great work can't wait to watch this project progress.
I want to see more of this! Calvin and others like yourself are wanting to make a swap with this engine.
There will be a lot more to come!
240s are my favorite car. I'm waiting on how you make this clean.
Excellent
I very much appreciate the details
I like the engine coming out of the hood...
I dont lol
Cool deal!!! Can't wait to hear it growling!!!!
Same!
This is going to be a really cool build
I’m kicking around the idea of doing an atlas 5 cyl in the 240 lmao
I was actually planning on putting one of these into an s13 hatch for a pro-am drift car. Looking into maybe going the e36-e46 4.2 route
Those are sick too. My buddy has a 408 stroker in an e46 and i love that car.
@@J-Whit just already set up for a big boi straight 6 from the factory
If you could cant the motor 20° to the exhaust side you can get the top of the motor down two inches, it might clear a little bit more. 👀
im gonna be working on it this evening. there are multiple interferences though. one is with the pan and the steering rack mounts.
@@J-Whit yeah the atlas 4200 is a biiig boi maybe a Camero would be an easier platform. What are you trying to build it for, drag racing, track hpde?
@Dietcola1 kinda just want to use it for whatever i feel like lol. First even would be a drag and drive most likely, but it wont be a dedicated drag car.
I want to see a z32 4200 build.
Looks good. Question though the transmission what was needed to make it work with the 4200?
A colorado ar5 will bolt right up. The 5cylinder and 6 cylinder share the same bellhousing pattern.

Is that Artec intake manifold available yet?
Not yet. You can email artec though
@@J-Whitwill do. Thanks.

I'm waiting for more info. Would cutting the crossmember and modifying it help level the engine ? I'm leaving toward this if I don't ls

@@J-Whit think with a 4l60 and a custom crossmember it would fit ?
Go electric power steering they make lil bolt ons for 240s I think they use volvo ps pumps
I'd prefer to have American parts develope these . Zzperformance or motion raceworks needs to develop parts for this
I see someone swapping a 4200 on a car that has never been swapped, i instantly subscribe. 🫶🏽
