I believe in God but this is what broke me up from church. I went to a church with a military couple. The husband died in Iraq and his wife received a lot of money from his insurance. She gave the church $50k and nearly entire church praised God and cried. I thought that was bullshit. A man lost his life for that money.
As a former musician and Minister of Music for the church for over 25 years. I left about 6 years ago and have not been back. I could not sit there and play music to manipulate a group of people during offering time to give what they didn't have. Most were on welfare and social services and some didn't even have a car to get around. "Pastors would tell me to play money giving music" It was all manipulation.

A lot of people jobs are meaningless but people need a check for survival.. I speak on brown people because what I've noticed is that these are the people with majority lower level servant jobs because other races help their people either with positions or vital info to help them excel in life. I don't see that much within the brown community.. In order to gain wisdom through experience you need time.. A lot of people time is devoted to working.. You are right about what you are saying about why young people are leaving the church. Anyone can say they are a Christian but the Bible says: you you will know them by their fruit. I don't give up on the church because of what some people do or say. I look to God for myself and I try my best to live my life by the Commandments of God which is Love your neighbor as yourself and Love God with your whole heart, soul and mind. I must admit that I am in my sixties. Life experiences teach you that there is a God and you need Him when you Fall flat on your face. It may be a illness or hopelessness, becoming homeless or losing someone through violence. These things will cause you to search for the truth and something that can make your life better so you learn to trust God to get you through the tough times. You learn to get your eyes off people who mess up and fall because they are human and you learn to follow the true teachings of the Bible. Which all boils down to love. Do unto others as you have some one do unto you. People in the church are flawed but God is not. Don't let some of the people in the church stop you whether you are young or old from being a good person. When you pray to God He will help you be a better person and He can change the church folks who are being hypocrites when you come to God in prayer. We must wait patiently on God to change people and ourselves. We must trust God and believe by faith that He heard our prayers and that changes are gonna come. Don't give up on the church because Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. Remember in the Bible Jesus is the Head of the church so God is still in control no matter what things look like. Jesus is the answer for the world today. Just keep on praying for things to get better and pray that you don't lose heart because of all the racial and political unrest. God is still on the throne! God speaks to us through His Word the Bible. Read your Bible and God will give you the answers to every problem but you must be patient and wait on the answer He will give to you. He speaks to us everyday through people, nature through good thoughts of hope in our minds. It could be a encouraging post inn the internet. God speaks to us in many ways to help us and encourage us to hold on and be still and quiet in our emotions until He fixes the problems that we are facing by giving us the strength to get us through it and patience to wait on God to bring us out Of our troubles.

They collected $40.00 I was more hurt then angry. Let me finish with this; He made a point about wanting to be a part of something special, something different, but the reason why it's not like this is this: The Book of Acts 2:47 says " Praising God, and having favour with all the people, and the Lord added to the Church daily such as should be saved. What's happening now is the church has lost its witness and is not having favor with the people. People see what is happening in these so called churches, that they all are doing what the people outside of the church is doing, The way the women are dressing, acting, talking, the men too. So God is not adding to it at all.

Speaking for myself, as I got older I would visit churches and noticed I wasn't learning much. Just alot of motivational speaking and people who were kinda fake, judgemental, and hypocritical. Now I can honestly say i found a place where I'm being fed what I need. It's small and not the best building but we get alot done.

They have a few churches, that ask to see your w-2 and they base your tithes on that. I really don't care how a person worship or if they don't worship at all. The Bible says that God will give a pastor after his (God) own heart, and when you have a pastor after God's heart then you will see that he is helping everyone in need the same way God have helped him. When I lived in Michigan the church I was going to helped with bills (as long as you can show proof), gave food, cooked food, and clothed people and stayed open throughout the week and if you wanted to see what all the money was going to after you payed your tithes he would show you personally. Not all churches are corrupted and money hungry
That's why I left the church, I even went to have conversation with my pastor using the bible but he didn't want to use the bible. His words had no biblical backbones. Well, the church is no longer for me and I'm able to keep up with my bills now.

Although I'm a Seasoned Saint (over age 50), I feel that my generation and those with even more years behind them are responsible for this sad situation in the church. Sometimes we get so obsessed with sharing the Gospel that we ostracize the very people that need it. But this is not done intentionally. We try to hide our own faults but we ALL have faults. God tells us to love everyone, even our enemies.

You are correct that there should be a clear advantage for going to church. The main reason is that some individuals don't have a personal relationship with God. They have a relationship with the weak religious traditions and ignore the people. I work with churches, the prison system, and the police department to help people build a relationship with God. What I see in some cases is a lack of interest in helping people to be better. I do see good things happening too. But as a spiritual leader and coach, my biggest obstacle is not Satan, it's unconsecrated hearts.

You have it, in essence, Willie D. I am based in the UK and the very same is happening NOT JUST in the 'black church'..but across denominations. In fact, this is happening amongst people of the older age group too. When they listen to preaching, but the preacher does not show the examples of love, generosity, humility etc...etc they think what is the point? Young people often say to me, what good is the church when they are not impacting their local community? Isn't that what the church is for? But today it seems to be politics inside the four walls NOT in all churches, but the bad news is always louder than the good. I speak on these issues on wide platforms as I researched retention in the church for my dissertation and work with Church leaders. I can tell you there is so much work to do. May God help us. When people understand that they ARE the Church and thus ambassadors of the Church I think things would change.

The answer that every believer can give to doubters that Jesus is real is that He is real in us and we can feel His presence in our lives. No one can take that from us and He's even been apparent in the non believers lives as well. We are living epistles (2 Corinthians 3:2) (living bible) to all. Let our light so shine. In the end, if we don't stand up for truth in our living, and don't correct the falsehood in the church, we will be committing greater abominations (Ezekiel 8, 9) than the current ones in the church today. As a former musician and Minister of Music for the church for over 25 years. I left about 6 years ago and have not been back. I could not sit there and play music to manipulate a group of people during offering time to give what they didn't have. Most were on welfare and social services and some didn't even have a car to get around. "Pastors would tell me to play money giving music" It was all manipulation.

I speak on brown people because what I've noticed is that these are the people with majority lower level servant jobs because other races help their people either with positions or vital info to help them excel in life. I don't see that much within the brown community.. In order to gain wisdom through experience you need time.. A lot of people time is devoted to working.. The original bible carried by early Christians of Christ had only four books (chapters really),and were called the gospels. It later became two main books, old and new testaments.
It gets worse. In 1249 AD pope Innocent the third changed the Bible again by ordering his priest to take the chapter of revelations out of the Old Testament and put it in the New Testament.

You are right about what you are saying about why young people are leaving the church. Anyone can say they are a Christian but the Bible says: you you will know them by their fruit. I don't give up on the church because of what some people do or say. I look to God for myself and I try my best to live my life by the Commandments of God which is Love your neighbor as yourself and Love God with your whole heart, soul and mind. I must admit that I am in my sixties. Life experiences teach you that there is a God and you need Him when you Fall flat on your face. It may be a illness or hopelessness, becoming homeless or losing someone through violence. Don't let some of the people in the church stop you whether you are young or old from being a good person. When you pray to God He will help you be a better person and He can change the church folks who are being hypocrites when you come to God in prayer. We must wait patiently on God to change people and ourselves. We must trust God and believe by faith that He heard our prayers and that changes are gonna come. Don't give up on the church because Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. Remember in the Bible Jesus is the Head of the church so God is still in control no matter what things look like. Jesus is the answer for the world today. Just keep on praying for things to get better and pray that you don't lose heart because of all the racial and political unrest. God is still on the throne! God speaks to us through His Word the Bible. Read your Bible and God will give you the answers to every problem but you must be patient and wait on the answer He will give to you. He speaks to us everyday through people, nature through good thoughts of hope in our minds. It could be a encouraging post inn the internet. God speaks to us in many ways to help us and encourage us to hold on and be still and quiet in our emotions until He fixes the problems that we are facing by giving us the strength to get us through it and patience to wait on God to bring us out Of our troubles.

What's happening now is the church has lost its witness and is not having favor with the people. Speaking for myself, as I got older I would visit churches and noticed I wasn't learning much. Just alot of motivational speaking and people who were kinda fake, judgemental, and hypocritical. Now I can honestly say i found a place where I'm being fed what I need. It's small and not the best building but we get alot done.

The Bible says that God will give a pastor after his (God) own heart, and when you have a pastor after God's heart then you will see that he is helping everyone in need the same way God have helped him. When I lived in Michigan the church I was going to helped with bills (as long as you can show proof), gave food, cooked food, and clothed people and stayed open throughout the week and if you wanted to see what all the money was going to after you payed your tithes he would show you personally. You are correct that there should be a clear advantage for going to church. The main reason is that some individuals don't have a personal relationship with God. They have a relationship with the weak religious traditions and ignore the people. I work with churches, the prison system, and the police department to help people build a relationship with God. What I see in some cases is a lack of interest in helping people to be better. I do see good things happening too. But as a spiritual leader and coach, my biggest obstacle is not Satan, it's unconsecrated hearts.
It's because it's become clearly apparent that not only churches, but the aspect of religion in and of itself is "unadulterated mythology"! Also, it's lying is completely transparent!!! The one thing that is extremely refreshing about youth is that they're "Brutally Honest".

You have it, in essence, Willie D. I am based in the UK and the very same is happening NOT JUST in the 'black church'..but across denominations. In fact, this is happening amongst people of the older age group too. When they listen to preaching, but the preacher does not show the examples of love, generosity, humility etc...etc they think what is the point? Young people often say to me, what good is the church when they are not impacting their local community? Isn't that what the church is for? But today it seems to be politics inside the four walls NOT in all churches, but the bad news is always louder than the good.
