- In this action packed vlog I head to Parc Astérix in Paris! Join me for on ride POV's from all of the major rides at the park including the NEW for 2022 Tonnerre 2 Zeus. For this year the park have refurbished their wooden roller coaster and also added a seat facing backwards on each of the trains! Along with trying out the new experiences I check out the construction taking place on Toutatis, a spectacular new Intamin Roller Coaster opening next year and share highlights from some of the spectacular entertainment. This includes a brilliant stunt show and an amazing night-time fireworks show on the lake!

Hi Shawn, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Parc Asterix, my home park. It was a very enjoyable vlog to watch! But I'm sad that you were disappointed by Tonnerre 2 Zeus. In my opinion Gravity Group did a good job, the Timberliner trains are comfortable, the airtimes are much better and the 90 degree bump is a great feature! For me, the new version is much better than the old one.

The Mad House is the BEST becauce the preshows.. such a shame... now Villa Volta is the best version without these preshows

Wow Zeus looked as rough as a bag of spanners. Normally I’d say Wood is Good , but in this case I’d say they need to dial 999 and call RMC.
Mind you thinking about it, can you imagine that being given the RMC treatment, mmmmmm nice 👌🏻

I am comfused. One youtube channel rode tonnere in the begining of the year...and said it was an upgrade...and very smooth
I think it s all about what wheels they put on the trains. Parc asterix puts one type of wheels in summer...other in other seasons

So why would they change the layout of a ride that was previously spectacular? What is the reason?
The track and trains needed replacement due to age. However they should of gone with another manufacturer in my opinion!
I'm wondering how the Zeus ride compares to Wicker Man at Alton Towers?
Wicker Man rides better in my opinion!
Love the park! Last time I was there, there was a huge rain storm halfway through and i decided to go on the kiddie log flume before running indoors. Luckily got on all the rides and queues weren't too long after it!

Shame about the Zeus woodie. From the POV it looked phenomenal, especially the 90 degree banking, at least we all now know not to go on a woodie backwards. Really enjoyed this Paris trip. Florida here we come! 👍

Gravity Group has a bit of a reputation for building rough rides
Now this really makes me sad Shawn, "Tonnerre de Zeus" was one of my favorite Woodies in Europe, have not ridden it since pre pandemic and began to worry when I found out Gravity Group was picked to do the re-track. I so wish they would have gone with GCI, they've had a lot of success reviving old CCI woodies and their new trans are awesome
It’s such a shame, a GCI re-track would of made this a spectacular ride still!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Look what they did with GhostRider, you've only known the coaster as a GCI, It was hard to ride as a CCI, I'm sure you've read reviews pre GCI. Imagine Tonnerre de Zeus with Millennium Flyer trains

I went to parc asterix when I was around 10-11. I'm 32 now. It's a memory that sticks with me because my dad took me and my brother. Love the channel Shawn. You seem like a really down to earth and normal dude. Happy coaster-ing!

I just visited this park late August and rode Zeus for the first time. I didn't think it was bad at all tbh. Very intense and fast paced ride. It however has no excuse to be as rough as it is now.

Great vlog as usual Shawn. I've always been curious how fellow riders react to your running commentary when you're vlogging on rides. Are they typically cool with it? Have you ever received any complaints or been asked to keep it down? Has anyone ever asked you not to show them on camera?
Thank you! Usually so, however I actually speak close to the camera so it’s not very loud for other riders on the attraction!

Thinking of going there in christmas, do you reckon the park will be very crouded? The plan is to have a one-day visit only, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to ride everything.
Usually it’s possible to be able to ride everything in a day!

We thought Zeus was running rough in May, thought I was in the minority coming off underwhelmed, definitely didn’t feel like it had been retracked with the trains shaking so much. Osiris however is probably the best invert in the world.
It’s such a shame. OzIris however is amazing!
Interesting park, have been passed this park on route to Gare Marne La Vallee-Chessy for Disneyland Resort Paris via Eurostar in the past & after once back from Paris have searched up on Google Maps, since seeing park on maps and now watching this vlog, always wanted to go & visit. Thinking maybe if next time I visit Disneyland Resort Paris, might consider with friends to visit this park alongside our Disney trip to see this park as it does look epic 100%. Hope Disneyland Paris in future build a new coaster or log flume type attraction like Splash Mountain as an attraction like that would be epic at Paris park, but a unique & different version. Maybe placed in either Frontierland? Adventureland or Fantasyland? Especially as main park hasn't actually had a new coaster built there in a long time & think now in my opinion one could be worth consideration for future? But good video, really enjoyed and look forward to next & future vlogs. 😀👍

9:11 - I'm not sure "only €8" is a good way of phrasing it. The Swarm backwards was free, so frankly charging that much is absurd. Still not as overpriced as Enzo though :P
I don’t think it’s too bad for an up-charge experience, however it’s not worth it due to how it rides unfortunately!

That Bar!!!!! I am scared of heights but I would so do that!!! Price for cocktail was best. Im so impressed with this trip. Bar in the sky....cages on the pirate ship....this trip was AWSOME!!! All it needed was charlotte. She would have freaked with some of those water rides. Thank you again for sharing with us👍💗

totally agree with you about Tonnere 2 zeus, them new trains have totally ruined it. its very shaky and uncomfortable now. it used to be amazing, now its just ok. terrible shame.

I was a big asterix fan as a kid in the 90s and had no idea there was a theme park!! I went to Paris in 2015 as well lol.
Also I go to theme parks once every couple of years. The fact you go every week makes me soooo jealous. Dream job!

Not at all, there’s plenty of staff that speak English!
I was going to go after my holiday in april but ended up going to thorpe park instead! Looks rlly good! Great vlog! Hopefully going next year tho for the new coaster!

Hi Shawn, 19:01 Here you mentioned about Spain. Next time you go to Spain, I recommend going to a theme park called Terra Mítica and its located in Benidorm. I went there a week ago when I was on holiday and I loved it.
Wish Alton Towers had more water rides.

It runs from the airport (CDG) to the park and back until after close! More information on the park website!

It’s very easy to get to with a bus from the airport and on ride filming is permitted with a chesty!

Gutted you didn’t enjoy Tonerre 2 Zeus! Doing it backwards a few months ago was one of my top coasters ever, I loved the way it ragged you around 😂 it even cracked my back, not a masochist I promise!

I do miss Transdemonium. An excellent darkride that this park now lacks. In the first years of it's opening it had speed shifts and amazing jumpscare's because of that. Paris from hell where the more you go further on the ride, the puppets become more demonic. I have no idea why they removed such a good ride.

I suggest watching a French channel for the pronunciation of Toutatis. It’s not a hard one for English speakers to say, but the sound of it is probably not going to be obvious until you hear it. The middle syllable doesn’t sound like ‘tar’…more like ‘tat’, without the final ‘t’.

I wonder what it is with the latest gen of wooden coasters made in the last 20 - 30 years? They can get incredibly rough tomthe point of being unrideable and many are being RMC'd or are being torn down altogether. And yet, woodies that are 60-70, even 10p years old can be butter smooth (as smooth as woodies can be). There are still a ton of PTC and Natiional Amusement Devices coasters that are top-tier. Seems in the US, woodies started going downhill (no pun intended) in the 70s. There are a few exceptions, but most built since then have been crap.

Amazing vlog Shawn however I can’t comment too much as firstly I never knew this park existed and secondly I’ve never visited anyway. Think the woody coaster looks awesome and some of those family coasters look awesome. As for that floating drinks bar up the tower, wow! That was high up. The park looks like it needs a good dark ride. Nice vlog👌😉

Hi Shawn. Sad news a lady has fallen to her death from a ride at the Klotti wildlife and leisure park in Klotten, Rhineland-Palatinate, at around 4.30pm on Saturday. They are trying to find the cause of the accident.
Very sad indeed. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this.
Do you count tonnerre 2 zeus as a new credit?
And I've also done both versions, and didn't like them tbh, tonnerre de zeus had to many lats and 2 zeus is to rough
I’d class them as two credits with the amount of work done
Timberliners are super lightweight, which is why they slow down quicker than ptc trains, they don’t carry their momentum as well. The lightness also leads to the trains riding rougher since every vibration in the track is picked up by the trains.

Gutted about Tonnerre 2 Zeus. Real shame loved it was one of the best coasters in Europe and now its just a one and done on a visit. The Timberliner trains are terrible, we should all be thankful the Voyage never went forward with them.

I`ve only been on one coaster backwards and that was El Diablo at Portaventura and I hated it (not that I`m a fan of that ride anyway). Looking at that coaster I agree t`s a prime candidate for a RMC makeover.
A wooden coaster backwards really should be a no go!

I went here my first year of high school I think 2003 i remember it so well. One of the best school trips you could of had £130 for the coach there and ticket for the park. I remember it so well because there was the first inverted rollercoaster I went on and I remember crapping my pants showing off because I was with the pals😂 good times and the water ride there I remember was awesome

Is stapling on Tonarre an issues? Timber at Walibi Rhone-Alps had this issue but my two rides on Oscar's Wacky Taxi back in June was as good as it was as good as it was when the ride was 1 and got some good airtime
Not really too bad on the stapling!
Leviathan will probably ride better since that is Gravity Group's own creation, although that won't have guests on it for another month and has been sitting there for a hot min like the SeaWorld coasters in the US did due to Covid

Thank you! The best thing to do is get the RER train from Disney to the airport. From there they have a shuttle bus for €10 return!
They've built another of these Hornet/Flight of Icarus type of coasters, it's called Typhoon and it's over in the Netherlands
