In China, Devastator is translated as Da Li Shen (lit: Great Strength Deity), which is also the translation for Hercules the mythological hero. I guess someone in China saw the bio about Devastator's incredible strength and decided to go with it. Edit: oh yeah, a great 3rd party name was XTB's Klaatu aka Cosmos; Klaatu being the alien being from The Day The Earth Stood Still.
My favorites are the current Fans Toys Constructicon team, which is being named after famous architects, and one of the versions of Mirage that Newage did called Lamont Cranston, which is the name of main character in The Shadow.
I always thought Fanstoys Scoria was a clever name. Scoria: The slag or dross that remains after the smelting of metal from an ore. Slag: Stony waste matter separated from metals during the smelting or refining of ore.
Probably my favorite 3rd party name of all time is Magic Square Light of Freedom. Its so perfect and so Optimus, it could just be his actual sub-title in the actual show. Light of Peace as well, but it doesn't sound as dope and doesn't roll off the tongue as well, it lacks a bit of oomph
My favorite is Fantastic Model Hero, a simple but great name for a prime. Fansproject Sigma-L has to make the worst list it is just awful but aged kind of well through slang

I call Sludge "Stomp" way more often than Sludge.
Honestly, Sludge is a terrible name, and doesn't even have much of anything to do with him.
