      Haha, yeah, that double loop is a layout we have never seen before! I'd love to know the reasoning behind it. Usually, I don't have trouble staying oriented inside of a mine, but this one really turned us around... Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Cool mine that one! Looks like a Cornish mine for sure, low narrow tunnels that I know too well. Nice to see some equipment left behind to look at, that winze looked far too inviting to just bung a rope down! :) Great video! Shame Frank has stopped exploring, is Paul still up for trips with you and Chuck?

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, yeah, I thought you might feel at home in those cramped, narrow tunnels. Yes, I believe Paul is still keen on going on trips, but the only problem is that he is way out of the way (about a drive of eight hours from where Chuck and I are based). We still would like to swing down and pick him up for an adventure when we can though...

    At 12:41, are the rocks and piece of wood on the floor purposefully shaped into an arrow, do you think?

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never noticed that before... Yes, I'm sure that's what that was.

    Great video Friend, have you ever tried to bring metal detecting to one of those mines? Greetings from Italy.
    Fausto.

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Fausto. No, I haven't brought a metal detector. My brother is really into metal detecting and is hoping to come visit some nearby ghost towns soon with his metal detector, but I don't know enough about metal detecting yet to be able to find anything interesting. Ha, plus I am already hauling around gear that weighs too much for exploring the abandoned mines! Thanks for watching.

    They sometimes had very short miners like the Welsh or Cornish.

    There are, apparently, 'dwarf castles' ( ANCIENT rock dwellings/shelters) dug out in the same incomprehensibly miniature fashion in various parts of the world. I just learned this myself, over on you tube newearth channel. Great video btw which I missed til now. Anyway, Thank you for your dangerous but exciting missions -from UK.

    ok the first time someone bumped their head it was amusing the 2nd , 3rd & 4th time it started getting funny by the end of the explore I was lmao :):):) Strange mine given the low height, irregular width and the way it seemed to snake around going nowhere. all that for one open stope. I'm more inclined to believe it may have been dug by the munchkins following the yellow brick road

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was a very strange mine! I'm inclined to agree with your Munchkins theory.

      I'm afraid Frank is still retired. This was filmed prior to his retirement.

      He didn't entirely close the door on going out still from time to time. So, hopefully, this isn't the very last mining video with Frank in it (I had no idea of the significance when I was filming it).

    Great video as always.. So at the risk of being a total thickie I have to ask the question
    What is the difference between a mine with no ore shoots and one with ..obviously this mine didn't have any but did have a labyrinth of loads of small tunnels all over the place..does this mean they were truly following a ore vein and no need to go up ..or is it just a different kind of mining ..as in do different ores and minerals require different methods ..sorry for being uneducated

    Brothers of the mine rejoice! Swing, swing, swing with me. Raise your pick and raise your voice! Sing, sing, sing with me. Down and down into the deep, who knows what we'll find beneath? Diamonds, rubies, gold and more! Hidden in the mountain store!

    • @TVRExploring

      If you go to the right every time you come to a fork in a labyrinth (like a complex underground mine), you can't get lost. Keep going right and if you get confused, turn around and go to the left at every fork on the way out. It will take you right back to where you started.

    Please don't ever chew gum while filming. It is very annoying. Keep the cool videos coming. Thx!

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, yeah, it is annoying... I didn't realize how much the camera would pick that up. Don't worry, I haven't done that since noticing it when I was editing the video.

  • @Ebeckenator

    Dwarf's? probably Coolies.. Aka Chinese Miners...

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even the coolies must have been short then because I would estimate that most sections of that mine were around four feet (or less) high... I didn't see any sign of tracks at this mine. So, that's another point in favor of coolies (or dwarfs) lugging ore and waste rock out by wheelbarrow or buckets.

    • @Ebeckenator
      @Ebeckenator 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The neatly stacked gobbing is another clue.. Coolies were meretricious in stacking waste rock..

      LOL, the abacus scene would have been great!

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, unfortunately, I could find almost nothing at all on the history of this mine in order to be able to confirm that other than the fact that silver was mined here and that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1937.

  • @ADITADDICTS

    That was a shit load of rat shit at the end.

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      McBride, that was very well put. There was indeed a shitload of rat shit at the end and it was kind of shitty to be walking through all of that shit.

    Still-pressurized tanks, interesting! People have gotten taller over the years, a combination of better nutrition, better healthcare and maybe even people's preferences in reproductive partners! At least, I think tallness has been an upward trend, not actually sure!

    • @TVRExploring
      @TVRExploring  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have read many statistics about people getting taller and so I believe that you are correct for all of the reasons you outlined above... That said, some sections of this abandoned mine were no more than four feet high and so even for someone much shorter than us, that must have been uncomfortable. I'm 5'10 and so someone that really is tall would be absolutely miserable in those adits!
