The name of the saint is St. Efstathios
What are the initial colours you use for the skin? I started trying to pain icons for fun. I tend to sketch them more, and use charcol. This is my first time painting one. I have started the skin, and it doesnt look that bad, I have added the dark tones, and then the light, but yours obviously look professional. Any types to get the skin colour? Mixing wise?
The first layer for the skin should be the darker tone of the face. Then after you paint eyes nose lips eyebrows, start paint the lighter tones. To make the first darker layer you may mix burnt sienna with little orange and little yellow ochre and white.
The lighter tones are more yellow than the first layer, so add in the first layer just a little orange, more yellow ochre and white.
what is the name of this saint?
Is it oil?
No. it is powder pigments, mixed with a special liquid acrylic material which looks like glue.
