In the Cold War, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty was the voice of counterpropaganda in the Soviet bloc.
With constant interference and sabotage by the Russians, the fight to inform Eastern Europe was carried out from Portugal.
More specifically, from RARET, in the small village of Glória in Ribatejo.
One of the most powerful shortwave broadcasting centers in the world, initially funded by the CIA, operated discreetly for 45 years.
Victim of its own success, RARET closed with the end of the Cold War, but Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty never stopped working. History repeats itself. Now the information war is carried out on the Internet and social networks.
Censored in Russia, dissident journalists work at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty headquarters in Prague, Czech Republic, to continue to inform Russians and counter propaganda in Russia.
