ERIS Parfums: incredible first impressions w/ 3 perfumes: Green Spell, Mxxx, Night Flower

- In this week's Savor Salvage Scent video, I gush about my first impressions with 3 fragrances from the niche perfume house, ERIS Parfums. This house was founded in 2016 by Barbara Herman, a perfume collector and (among other things!) the author of the book "Scent and Subversion" (my next read; can't wait!). Big thanks to my friends Lynn + Kelly for generously sharing their decants. I am sure to purchase my own bottles soon!

Every time I look for review on a perfume/house I’m interested in, I land on your channel! Your reviews are so helpful, thank you! Night flower is intoxicating !!!! Thanks to you, I also discovered Bint al Sudan and I love it. It is so refreshing to hear about a variety of scent , some less known. Fabulous channel.

yay! yay! yay! so happy that you liked night flower. I thought it might jive with your nose sensibilities. I love the house so much. so unique. get your nose on their belle de jour. when I got my sample pack that one had leaked and all I had to go on was the last remnants floating on the cardboard (it was like licking the ice cream bowl to get the last last drops). yes, your reaction of 'whaaaaat' is so spot on for all of these....oh and yes her book is awesome. there's a great long intro section and then it becomes a listing/mini reviews of all of the old world gems. I was first turned on to her by the interview she did with persolaise last fall. check it out if you haven't already. I find it inspiring how she picked up her life and moved to new orleans to write that book. I'm sure you've heard of it but mandy aftel's essence and alchemy is of course also a good read.
Kelly, I’m so grateful foe the decants you sent me, including this beautiful gem. I love your analogy to licking the bowl, and I can’t wait to try more of the ERIS scents (I’m thinking I may buy a sample set for my bday). Though I love perfume books, I haven’t read either that you suggested. I will start the Herman book (so excited!) this week and the other later this summer. Hope you are well!

They are honestly a little out of my price range but here’s the cool thing. I think they are worth it! I often spray expensive designer fragrances and think... ho-hum. But these, from this marvelous niche house, are quality + Gorgeous. The book author and founder of the house also oversees the incredible website “Yesterday’s Perfumes.” Gosh I just love learning!!
@@savorsalvagescent2300 Yup! I totally get what you’re saying. Regarding the book I discovered it a few years ago at one of my local antique shops. It was just for display on top of a counter that had dozens of mini perfumes and jewelry. It’s a beautiful book and knew immediately that I would get it but for some reason forgot. Thanks Amy!

Antoine Lie and Barbara Herman must have some incredible chemistry between them for him to bottle her visions so beautifully.

@@savorsalvagescent2300 if you haven’t already, check out the Persolaise interview with Antoine Lie. And try to find a bottle of Girl. It’s cheap, the concoction isnt boring…I like it a lot, but the bottle is great . I just enjoy holding it in my hand..it’s really a nice flacon. I think you’ll like it a lot.

@@savorsalvagescent2300 the artwork is done by KAWS ( I didn’t know who he was till I googled him. ) and is embedded into the glass.
Re:Eris…if you buy the sample set, that amount is returned to you as a voucher towards the purchase of a full bottle. I love that she does that. They’re all great in different ways.

I have never heard about Eris perfumes but it sounds really inspiring :)
Just today I have learnt from another youtuber about Meleg handcrafted perfumes from Canada that sounded so interesting.
There is definitely a place for perfumery art and perfumes made from high quality ingredients.
I have no knowledge about good books in the perfume area, it would be great to hear about ones you recommend:)
There was actually a very good one, not about perfumes but somehow connected with perfume world that impressed me. It was a historical fantasy novel by Patrick Suskind called Perfume:Story of a Murderer, that later had a film adaptation.
I do not remember a movie much but the book was just great.
@Katarenza - I can recommend Neil Chapman's, Perfume: In Search Of Your Signature Scent. It's well written, not pretentious and the chapters are divided by fragrance notes.

I bought Nightflower, went to the car and smelled the Mxxx that was on my hand, and went right back into the store and bought that one too! I don’t like Green Spell though, too green for me.
