QuickTime’s “quasi” video editor. If you drag a video file from finder to a video opened in QT player, you can stitch them together. No limit to how many videos you do this with. I found it out by accident… 😅
@@BrandonButch I have missed your latest videos because of the TH-cam change eliminating the sort subscriptions A-Z on YT app for TV. From my research it’s only affecting those who watch on TVs. Their recent change to the tv app sorting by “Relevant” is horrible. Their relevant makes zero sense. It’s not most watched, not newest… just some totally random sort. Mac, iPad, iPhone apps as well as thru Safari still have the option for A-Z but on Roku YT app… it’s gone. Maybe let your contact with YT know this could lead to fewer views… I can’t believe they did this.
Just finished the video and first of all I am saving this for later and second of all I have never felt so clueless about features like this video has shown me, since I usually know at least a few, but here everything was pretty much new! Brandon you are the only one I can trust with new hidden features and trick videos - Thank you so so much-This is Life changing!
sidenote: don't sleep on @4:42 techniques; this is single-handedly one of the best ways to manage your text/paragraphs etc if you do a lot of emailing. it's weird to get used to at first, but once your muscle memory catches on, you can really cruise thru some typing 👌
This is amazing information. Having used a Mac for over 10 years there is still so much to learn. But there is so much complexity on holding down all sorts of keys, and having to remember what combination of keys does what. Unless one is a full time professional user, how do people remember more than the odd one or two commands? Fascinating video. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite videos, Brandon! I will go back to this time and time again until I memorize this stuff. Thanks for the great work that you do.
one of my absolute FAV shortcuts for YT is hitting 1-9 to go 10-90% of the video, and 0 takes you to the beginning. i use this the most when I'm on say, 15+ min videos to decide if I want to actually take the time to sit down and watch it. great way to get a 'real feel' for some content before committing to it, YT is soo full of garbage these days with diabolical editing, utilizing 1-9 is a quick way to get premise of a video before committing to it great vid! good reminder for some things I forgot about and others I had no idea, thanks m8!
Wow !! I Rarely save You tube videos but this one is superb. Now top of the list. Great Job Brandon. I will have to watch this numerous times as there are just so many excellent tips and all genuinely useful. Thank You.
Woo just learned the most useful tip : Command + Arrow down it gets your directly to the end of the text… that’s the magic trick I needed so much, finally no more need to scroll non stop down to reach the end of a long text/doc/notes. That will save me so much time. When you work on multiples long text files at that same time because on Notes if I go from one file to the other it never saves that I was at the bottom just before on the previous file… it always reopen a note file at the top. 😮 🎉Thanks.
Wth man, I've never seen a video with so many tips and tricks I never knew about. Gave me a different perspective on how customizable MacOS really is. Thanks for the video!
More TH-cam tips: SHIFT > and < SHIFT Those change the speed of the playback. Very handy. Also, with TH-cam press the one through nine buttons to instantly jump to: 10%, 20%…..90% of the way through the video. Amazing.
Thanks for this video! I just purchased my first MacBook. I went with the 14” MacBook Pro M4 Pro chip. It’s surely different from the windows based systems 😅
Fantastic! Thank you! Very small nitpick - "Hide" applies to an application, not a window - so by pressing Cmd-H you hide every window of that application.
Man, I thought I've seen all the `shortcuts` videos, but even I learned a few: I didn't know about the double-right click for the picture'n'picture for videos (even works for other browsers that are not Safari) & pinning applications/folders to the top of Finder -- those stood out to me here so far.
Thanks for these great tips. I found several new ones that I didn't know about. As an added (bonus) tip to your segment on re-sizing/positioning windows, instead of clicking on the menu "Windows" and then clicking "move and resize", you can just hover the mouse over the green control button in the upper left of the window and will be offered the same settings.
you can hold the option key and adjust keyboard backlight to open keyboard settings on older macbooks that still have the backlight adjust keys in the keyboard
nice videoooo, but can u tell me how did u get the ambient sensors as widgets in your desktop, im using a HomePod mini for temps sensors but I can't figure out how to do it
Thanks a lot! Just subbed! :) I have a question about Safari & TH-cam. When I watch media on Safari, Apple's "Now Playing" on menu bar gives me the option 10 seconds forward/rewind. This is very hand as I've assigned a keybind to watch tutorials and work at the same time. However, when I switch to other browsers, this is not possible. I only get Previous/Next. Is there a way to change this or a third party software? Or is it just Apple and Safari's API and won't work with other browsers?
1) Is there any way to select a text from a hyperlink? In Windows, you can hold the Alt key and select the text, but I don’t know how to do that in macOS. 2) Is there any way to switch Input Source only for an active app instead of system-wide way? Thank you for the video!
I’m running Sequoia 15.1.1 and I can’t find how to add weather to the menu bar - when I go to the menu bar section of control center it doesn’t show weather at all. :( is there another way to add it?
Thank you! If you're asking for one like per new feature, we should request an update from TH-cam. In the current version, I can't set 15 likes in one go. Also, thank you for the informative video. Have you considered adding a TL;DR for this video? It would be great for a quick recap!
For some reason, when I create a keyboard shortcut for "Quarters", it still doesn't show up in the menu and it doesn't work. I tried multiple shortcuts.
Brandon, I have been a Mac user for a very long time and I am also a subscriber. I was really skeptical on the unfortunately click-baity title as it’s come to be, and your first couple lines sounded like the same “everybody knows this stuff” videos others have complained about in the comments. When you said give me an upvote if one of these tips was something you didn’t know yet (paraphrasing), I said out loud “bet homie, but if there isn’t this video gets a downvote”. Wasn’t trying to be negative toward you, but I’d seen so many of these videos that were worthless before that it just elicited an eye roll. Tip number fucking one was something I’d never seen before. There were at least ten others I’d not known, or were at least such a minor inconvenience to actually learn how to do better that I’d not taken the time to research. Thank you so much for consistently delivering great content.
10y windows user, just switched back to Mac for the first time use in 10y. After having my device for 1week, I knew 38 of your things and the other two were totally not useful. Macs are so simple to use...
*What's a non-obvious Mac feature that you use daily?*

the small increment volume tip also works for the brightness. You can small increment the luminosity.

This video is real, not like other ‘Tips everyone knows’ videos.
I just learned what felt like at least 10 new tips in the first two minutes what..🤯

Best use of 23 minutes! Outstanding work brother.

I love just dragging the folder to the iTerm app pinned in finder (shown at 11:40) to open the terminal instead of using cd.

Learned a lot! I can't believe I didn't know I could hit "enter" to rename a file! 🤯
Command + Tilde

I'm on the first tip and you've already blown my mind.
Thank you!
This is awesome, super helpful stuff.
Which app did you use to open the PDF and fill the signatures. I don’t see Adobe when you opened it.
I'm an advanced Mac user and there was exactly 1 new thing for me - the passwords menu bar. Still watched the whole video and enjoyed it!

have the black cursor always been bigger than white cursors ?
Oh my god 🤯🤯🤯 It's really amazing 🤩Thanks!
I'm like 5 minutes in and this is the best macOS tips video I've ever seen..
The volume 1/4 adjustment one is really nice. I woud add, in spotlight, command + enter will reveal the selected file/application in Finder.
That Writing Tools Compose keyboard shortcut will definitely be a lifesaver for me. Thanks, Brandon!

How do you go to the reader view on chrome?
it's Safari only

well that’s pretty good
Is there a way to zoom in & out for a individual app (eg. Safari) with a modify-key and scroll, instead of the entire screen?
I'm brand new to Mac I need to write these down In noted until I get more comfortable

you had me at #1
Brandon, which application do you use for screen recording is it QuickTime cause this is way too smooth
When is the Macbook Air M4 launching?
likely early next year

I DIDN’T KNOW THERE WAS PICTURE-IN-PICTURE ON MAC!!!! WHAT!!!!!
But some of them are TH-cam shortcuts, not the Mac ones.
I loved each every tip, thankyou we all appreciate your efforts and making the macOS experience more better.

How is it the year 2024 of our lord and there are still new Mac tips being discovered
Because it’s software that is still under active development.
