A fantastic series of programs. I am trying to build a small out-and-back model railway depicting a real railway in Sweden, about half the size of YV.
I have always enjoyed research, and trying my hardest to find as much data as possible about this operation.
Also since my late father was an architect and I have all his drawings saved,, this series has touched many strings within me in all its aspects.
Thank you Jack and John for the great enjoyment.

Jack takes his love for prototype modeling 10 steps further than I think I ever will, but I love watching what is possible if you really want to go get it. I really enjoy watching how Jack goes about creating these masterpieces and then love getting to see the final piece. I will definitely be watching for the finished crane.

Once again another class act program. I never fail to learn something watching Jack explain how he works. Looking forward to more on the crane.

Passion for what he's doing, knowledge about how to do it, and generosity for wanting to share it with the world! It's my privilege to be able to bring this series to the public!

This gives me inspiration to model the GP7u in my channel profile pic. This will be my first kitbash/modification ever.

Thank you so much for sharing your passion for scale modeling. I enjoyed viewing all the MoW units. Your use of research and the many tools utilized to finely detail each unit is beyond inspiring. I have yet to try a brass model and I look forward to trying a new method. Seems I've become somewhat complacent in my use of materials in which I model with. As always your videos help me to broaden out my approach to recreating prototypical trains and their associated equipment. Hope you do a follow up video on the outcome of the printed parts and the completion of the crane unit. I so appreciate all the effort that not only went into your wonderful models but also that of all the videos with detailed reasonings regarding decisions within your builds.

I was listening and learning about these cars as I am constructing my layout. Good information and I may watch again to take in any material I missed which I could use in building any projects. ..thanks

Lovely project! My future project set in 1950s Adirondacks division during the dying days of logging will require some very custom made items, and this is a great inspiration. Looking forward to the next episode.

I could watch Jack all day, just love these videos. I really liked the photo of the car with the junk stored on the truss rods. I wonder if Jack will add that stuff on the model.

I’m interested in what you’re doing that is very cool
I’m into O scale myself and I’m a designer and draw in 3d
What kind of printer and software do you use if you don’t mind me asking

I wonder if the 02 bunk car rooftop detail, is a cyclone type vent for fresh air?

Totally agree with all the comments below. You have such a wealth of info to give and it is greatly appreciated. What 3d sketch program do you use and do you have a link for items on shapeways? Thanks in advance!

Troy...I am using SketchUp which is a free program but very hard to find on their website. Go to my website at www.yosemitevalleyrr.com and my email address is at the bottom of the pages. Email me and I can answer your questions in more detail. There is also notes fora clinic that I give on 3D drawing and such on my website under the Clinics tab...

Photogrammetry is the science and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and the environment through the process of recording, measuring, and interpreting, for example, photographic images. There are many variants of photogrammetry. One example is the extraction of three-dimensional measurements from two-dimensional data (i.e. images); for example, the distance between two points that lie on a plane parallel to the photographic image plane can be determined by measuring their distance on the image, if the scale of the image is known. Other measurements not directly measured from the image can also be determined.

What!? You didn't have all the pulleys and pulley shafts done separately so the crane can be fully operational?! 😶... Ha! Seriously, that's about the most prototypical old steam crane ever, short of the real thing - which is gone. I sure hope those steam rods print. If not, just make them up separate and fit them in.
BTW, all those models you've done are magnificent. They should end up in a museum collection (in 50 years or so-😁).

Fear not, that's already in the works - the parts he was waiting for arrived the very day after we recorded this episode, and they worked!

Tom...I Googled that printer and it appears to be a home 3D printer for about $300. I have a friend who has a $3,000 3D printer and he has a success rate of only75%. Shapeways prints my files on a $100,000 printer. I don't think that I have yet even $300 on 3D prints since my first 3D order in 2013...

yvfan Greetings, you replied you’ve spent around $300 with shapeways over the years. I’ve not used shapeways yet. Do they charge customers significantly less to purchase a print of a file the customer submits, than they do for someone else to purchase a print based on that same item?
As an example, seeing that they would charge me $120 for the box car 602 frame and $182 for the oil house breezeway quickly pushes past $300. Those are from Jack’s Yosemite-Models shapeways page.
Jack and TSG, Your videos are fantastic, thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills.
