Megumi probably knows now more than anyone what a monster sukuna is, he probably even understands that sukuna is toying with everyone and maybe that adds even more to he's unwillingness to fight. Imagine being a little kid infront of a huge ass grizzly bear that just casually slaughtered your family including the one guy you had put all hopes on, and everyone outside the fence is telling you to run towards them and you'll survive and this bear is looking at you and you're looking back at it, in that moment only you and the bear know how hopeless your situation is given the circumstances, the bear knows you're going to die and you know it too but the friend telling you to fight for your life doesn't even understand the situation you're in because he casually caged that bear when he was put infront of it so he doesn't understand only you do. That is what Megumi is going through and unlike Yuji he can't fight back, and it's very inclined with Megumi. He seems like he's a calculated guy and he's not very optimistic so a situation like this is hopeless

the fact that megumi rejected being saved by yuji in that moment should seal his characters fate... at least from a narrative standpoint... in order for the character arc to be completed imo he either will need to sacrifice himself to defeat sukuna in order to redeem his character or he will instead be taken to the extremes of nihilism and after the heros somehow manage to defeat sukuna, he will become the new villain and attempt to activate the merger, completing his character arc by rejecting redemption altogether... "you either die the hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" type of thing... personally i think there's more foreshadowing and setup that hints toward the villain arc direction given his dad was not just a villain but was also THE villain that gave gojo his awakening AND killed tengens vessel allowing for kenjakus plan for the merger to become possible in the first place, plus megumi has always been mental blocked by his altruistic side and only ever tastes his full potential when embracing a selfish and more degenerate mindset, not to mention his character is clearly inspired by sasuke from naruto which followed a similar villain arc, ect... and i personally think that this direction for the story and the character are the most interesting and make the most sense narratively

Megumi's main weakness and shortcoming will always be his lack of self-preservation, but most importantly, pride. It is pride in one's self that helps push us to get out of dark times, to strike back when wronged, but Megumi has always been missing this quality, a quality that is key to success
megumi used to be my favorite character, but once he gave up he gave up on everyone else. megumi could have stopped sukuna, but he chose to do nothing

The biggest ace in the sleeve Megumi now has is his domain expansion. He saw himself kill his sister, got bathed in evil and even hit by infinite void four times to stretch out the agony into infinity. His soul by now is pure darkness and I wouldn't be surprised that by the time the fight stretches into the night his domain would eat Sukuna's whole and take him into the cursed dimention between dream and reality where Megumi could literally control every single aspect of that domain and even create a different reality for himself.
The chance for that to happen though, would need to come from Yuji changing his soul with that of Megumi and possibly fighting Sukuna in his innate domain.
Also what really sets Megumi's CT apart from Gojo's is not only Mahoraga, but rather the domain. Gojo's domain seems to resemble Buddha or enlightenment as it is void like when reaching nirvana, while Megumi's seems to stem from the root of all Jujutsu and is the darkness itself, thus inherently making it a stronger barrier technique if all else is equal, hinting for the ten shadow bearer's potential to be the strongest domain user.
last one as a barrierless domain it seems the user still has to set up a center where the domain operates from, but Megumi could use his soul since for one he should be aware of it by now and two it seems really poetic as if the darkness from his soul is spreading to eat the whole world.

I believe Gojo deliberately held him back during his "training" knowing that Megumi is potentially more powerful. Gojo is a narcissist and underhanded. I wouldn't be surprised if he did it partly out of spite for Toji (temporarily) killing him.

It is going to take someone Megumi thinks is dead to come back for Megumi to snap out of this.
Megumi is the only one who has not met Gojo's expectations yet. It would be nice if Gojo came back just to be there for Megumi and to show him not all is lost. I really want to see the peak of the 10S and only Megumi can do that. Sukuna may have shown us the potential of the 10S or Mahoraga to be exact but Megumi will be the one to show us the completed 10S and DE.
I have always said that Yuji has Sukuna's physical strength whereas Megumi has his battle IQ. They NEED each other in this fight.
Sukuna's downfall is him underestimating the main cast. Most of the damage he has taken would not have happened if he took them seriously and stopped playing with his food. Sukuna is wayyyy too confident.

Obviously literally megumi was destined for darkness and headed towards possession but is that his true self? I would like to think of him as good in some way. But anyone that wields harmony (mahoraga) as a weapon is someone that eats god which is the idea of the merger or is evil. Using good will and holiness as manipulation is wrong. it seems like people don't understand the basics of writing... it's obvious that Megumi is in the same position as Yuji was in Shibuya, but no one there complained when Todo came to convince him, Yuji will be to Megumi what Todo was for him in Shibuya, and mark these words, the one who will kill Sukuna will be Megumi, perhaps with his complete domain, wasted character there, wasted character here, you deserve Gege to rush the manga, because you are the first to not have patience...
I was mad for a time because the characters plan worked and he fumbled it. But then I recalled literally everything that happened to him up until this point and realized… yeah I’d probably be hurt beyond repair to.
Literally two different scenarios.
1. Yuji was actually in the heat of the moment and literally didn’t have time to process Nobara’s death. Megumi literally had a whole month to process Tsumiki death.
2. Yuji not willing to fight Mahito doesn’t mean the end of the world bc Mahito is not even a special grade. Sukuna would end all of humanity if the gang don’t use their only opportunity to stop him.
So yes I can complain that Megumi selling the gang but also give Yuji a slap in the back for the predicament he was in 🤨

It might just be brain rot getting to me but is there even a point in saving Megumi? I was thinking they could transfer his soul information into a cursed corpse to make him into an independent cursed corpse like Panda, but that’s not rlly a satisfying fate for him 😭. Unless they got something else planned, their only other option is to kill Sukuna and leave Megumi to rot from the injuries his body suffered.
